Mom is at Granville House. I like it. It's a nice place and it's all friendly. It's like a family environment. Mom likes it a lot, too. I like that they have church services and stuff where she can go and have activities. They interact with them very well. She has a shared room. It's like a one-bedroom with two separate beds, their own closet, and a shared bathroom. The staff is good. They help her with washing her clothes, and they do the hair and nails. I would recommend their service. It's a nice and clean facility. They do activities with them. They take them walking outside to those that can walk, and make sure they get the exercise they need.

The website paints a wonderful picture of the facility but none of it is true. Especially in the Memory Care Unit. They are understaffed and not properly trained on dealing with Dementia and Alzheimer’s patient. Especially the night crew. When the on call Dr should have been called, the incompetent staff called a Med Tech for advice on what to do. They were told to just watch her. This wasn’t done either. My mom died that night. Laundry basket full of clothes covered in vomit. Aspirated on her own vomit. They would call me or send her to the hospital when she would sundown at night, but neither one of these things happened the night she died. I met with director for information on what exactly happened and was told she was going to meet with them and get back to me. I never heard another word from her!

I visited Granville House and got a nice, private tour because it's run by a daughter of a neighbor of ours. In a short time, I got to see quite a bit, and it was very nice. They have some interesting things. Most facilities charge you extra for this and that, but this particular facility makes one charge and that's it. I liked it because should my husband keep deteriorating rapidly, I could get a space easily without having to wait six months.
