I visited Hope Mills Retirement Center 12/9/19 at about 11:00 am. I have guardianship of my 69 year old aunt , and am looking for a residence to place her in. The facility looks as though it needs modernization. It has window units in the rooms. When I inquired of the staff about taking a tour, I was asked my aunt’s age. I was told the facility does not accept any residents under the age of 85. Since the facility evidently is a family run organization, obviously blatant discrimination is the practice. At the very least, age discrimination is blatantly exercised. I kindly departed the premises upon being told that by the employee.

I have visited Home Mills Retirement Center in the past and was very impressed. The staff has very little turnover. As I recall there are ladies that have been working there for 20 years. Very clean and comfortable.

Hope Mills Retirement offered skilled care, assisted living, and memory care, but the patients seemed to be intermingled with one another. The place and rooms were old and outdated. You have to step up to get in the shower, and most elderly people can’t do that. I didn’t like it. The people seemed to get along. The caregivers were really nice, but it needed a lot of updating and looked like a nursing home. It was one of those places that when you walk in, you know you won’t like it.
