I did a tour of Cambridge House Assisted Living. The appearance was good, and it was clean. We visited on a Monday unannounced, at the beginning of the month. They're very busy, but it looks nice in there. The room looks nice. I was looking in the one where they had the shared room, and they had their own bathrooms. It was all clean and very cozy. The staff were helpful and friendly. When I went in there, they had three seniors who were sitting up in the entrance area with the activities person. They were playing balloon toss, where they had something like a fly swatter but in the shape of a hand. When I went in, the staff who accommodated me was really busy, she said "Just give me a minute, I'll take you on a tour." But 40 minutes later, I went up to somebody and said, "I think she forgot about me." and then she came out and apologized.

Cambridge House was very nice. My mom was there for three years before she passed away, and they did an excellent job with her. It’s a lock down facility, and most of the rooms are semi-private. They fix the meals for them, have indoor activities, and have a physician on staff that comes into the facility. They also have a lot of staff. We were very pleased with everything.

I like Cambridge House. It’s a really clean place. They’re real attentive, and they go above and beyond what I thought they would do like the doctors’ appointments. They provide service without any extra cost. My mother needed a wheelchair at one time because she had fallen and broke her hip. She’s off of it now; they have done really well with her. I haven’t tried the food. My mother is well aware of everything, and she is a very picky eater, but she said their food is great. They take them shopping and out to eat. They do bingo and crafts. They don’t have an exercise program. It’s one of the things I wasn’t crazy about because I thought she needed more exercise, but she is walking and doing better now. It is about 5 minutes from my house so I can go back and forth anytime I need to without it being an inconvenience.

I looked at Cambridge House and I thought they were less expensive than the other ones but then they only had twin beds and they had to share a room. They weren't like apartments and could only fit a few things in there. It seemed to be clean and well kept. They had pretty good staff. They were very nice.
