The sense of community is strong. The nursing staff, CNA's, kitchen staff, front desk staff....everyone is very kind and makes a noticable effort to assist. The place is super clean and inviting. They offer a calendar of social events for their clients. The food is pretty good considering it is massed produced for a wide array of dietary needs. The menu options are vast. The nurses keep me updated on Dad's care by phone and in person. I am very pleased with Dad's care. Of course some disappoints happen; it's just the nature of being in a nursing home. But I feel confident leaving Dad alone there when I go away. I am confident he will get great care and they will keep me informed. i visit him a couple hours a day 5-6 times a week.

The independent living facilities are great! People are friendly, the activities are varied and accessible, and the staff are kind. I spent three weeks in The Pavilion SNF and advised my children that if I ever need that level of care to take me out of Croasdaile, put me in an apartment and hire private aides. There were 2 medication errors, no change of linens, and no schedule for when the PT or OT would show up. The wound nurse (who told the OT she would come to show her how to dress my wound for a shower) never appeared. When I voiced complaints, there were excuses made.

I went to Croasdaile Village to visit a friend and I liked that seniors who live there have their independence, but they can always have someone helping them out, as far as everyday living, maintenance, and anything they need. Everything is on campus. They take them to doctor's appointments, they have swimming pool access, health care services, and haircuts. The facility was very clean. The staff I met was very nice. My friend said the food was great.

Can’t believe how the rehab center has been treating my grandfather they have left him with a gash on his arm that was so bad the dressing had to be changed three times in a row, they left him in a wheelchair for four hours straight knowing he has sciatica and his legs and feet went numb he was in so much pain he was crying for help and nurses and aids just walked right past him!!!!!!! Don’t let your parents or grandparents come here they make it seem nice but the people are terrible!

I would give very high marks to Croasdaile Village. It's a Methodist facility. They are very helpful. During COVID, nobody was admitted to them ever. At the front gate, you were turned around. The residents were given their meals on trays. They weren't allowed into the dining room. I think they had one case of COVID and that was with an employee that was going in and out, but none among the residents. I have a friend that lives there and you check in and out at the front gate. They don't let you in the front gate unless you give them the name of a resident that you're picking up, where you're going, and even now that things have eased up, the guard at the front gate takes your temperature physically with a thermometer pointed at your forehead. I've eaten in their dining room frequently. My friend invites her other friends to come and have dinner with her. Even though they don't serve wine there, she always brings wine and the people in the dining room pour it for her as if they're serving our table, even though that's not something they usually do. They have terrific activities. I've gone there for movie night. She has a beautiful room. She was in independent living, and she's now in the memory care unit. She's now in hospice and the hospice is right there in their own medical facility. Croasdaile Village has houses, cottages, apartments, assisted living, memory care, and hospital care. They have a trained nursing medical facility and hospice care if you need it. The important thing is they are a not-for-profit. People are not making money on that facility. They have an 8 to a10 year waiting list and I'm putting myself on it. My friend was in the memory care unit and I took her one night to a concert in another town and we didn't get back until 11:30 or 12:00. You're not allowed in that unit. I've never been in that unit, but when I rang the bell for them to come and admit her, four attendants came running. They were happy to get her back. It was like they were waiting for her to come home and I was so pleased with that. They weren't looking for her because she was checked out to me and they know me, but they all came to the door to welcome her home. It was so funny to see. They have great transportation to concerts and sporting events and things like that, too. They've just redone it. They redo it every three or four years and they have torn down one older building, and they're putting in a brand new facility there because they couldn't keep renovating it. To make it new, they had to build a new building, so they did that. They are constantly renovating. It looks like you're walking into a Miami Beach Hotel, but it's still homey and friendly. The attendants there know everybody. Even when she would walk down the halls and pass one of the aides, the aides would say hi. They get greeted by name. The staff knows everybody's name. The food is good. It's like institutional food, but actually, some of the food was very good. It's a cafeteria line and you can choose what you want. They have a beautiful lake. If you walk around it, it's 2.5 miles and I would walk that with my friend. There's an outside activity, walking, exercise, and that kind of thing.

My mother is in Croasdaile Village, and she says it is excellent. I have never seen her room, but she says it is perfect. The food is excellent, and the staff is excellent. It is Covid right now, so there are not many activities at all; but when they do have them, she likes what they do. They have an exercise room, and she exercises two or three times a week. They have a hair salon over there. They have places to walk, and places to sit, all the conveniences that you need. There is a pond nearby, and they can walk around the pond. It is a perfect place for a senior, either independent or assisted because they have both. It tends to be expensive, but for people who have money it is perfect.

My Papa was in the Health Center here, The Pavilion, for rehab. He had a wonderful experience. He was well cared for, enjoyed the food, and my family was happy with his care. The staff responded to questions and were patient and caring.

Croasdaile Village is one of the most inviting, comfortable, friendly, and hospitable places we have visited - and we visited over 20 CCRC's in the last five years! Everyone is always smiling! I have personally witnessed housekeeping, security, and office personnel looking out for residents and offering assistance to those who looked like they might have been in need. My husband and I have made lifetime friendships at CV - joining them in their beautiful dining room as well as sharing club time with Laurie (the Chaplain) and other residents. We look forward to the time when our apartment will be right there and we can say goodbye to our long drive home. I almost forgot to mention the most beautiful renovation and additions! The facilities are fabulous and will offer us opportunities we could never believe possible! This next chapter of our lives will be fulfilling and rewarding and we look forward to it with joy in our hearts!

My tour of Croasdaile Village was well done, and they had all the information presented in slides. It's just too expensive for us. We visited the apartments and cottages. It was very nice, and the people seemed very happy there. There was a lot of activities. The menu looked fantastic. They had a library, craft room, and movies. It's continuing care, so you start off independent and then if you needed assistance, they provide additional care all the way. It was a fantastic place.

Croasdaile Village is wonderful. My parents have been residents for about 10 years, and they love it. The staff is very friendly and really helpful. They have exercise classes, and people who come and have academic lectures, and other academic classes that they have access to. They also have Bible study, a lot of evening programs, both musical and dramatic, and films that they enjoy. The food is very good. The price is really expensive, though.

Everything at Croasdaile Village was beautiful and well done, but it was very costly. They had really great activities, really nice landscaping, and wonderful workout room. The place was very well maintained, and they had great staff.

I've been to Croasdaile Village a lot because I have some friends who lived there. I've eaten there 6 to 8 times, and the food is pretty good. I liked their cottages a lot, they're very nice, and I would consider moving there. There's a lot of walking if you're staying in the main building, but the way the building was designed, you could get over the whole building without going outside, and that was a positive thing. It had more activities that would interest me, and it was less institutional. The residents seemed a lot happier. However, they didn't have an indoor pool.

Having had 2 family members at Croasdaile for many many years, we have experienced all facets of the Retirement community. As a retirement community, I found the facility to be very nice; however, as residents needs increased I became less thrilled with the care. This is a more recent thing in the last several years vs. the first 15+ years. My less than ideal experiences were more with the organization not the caregivers themselves who were always so kind. So many kind people. Towards the end of my last relative's life, I hired an additional caregiver to visit my relative every day because I did not feel my relative received appropriate attention. I am not local, so I used this person to be my eyes and ears. It was a significant additional cost on an already super expensive plan, but I am convinced, it was absolutely required. I had considered moving; however, thought that would be expensive and too disruptive to my relative. A final note, the most significant contributing factor to my relative's demise was an accident involving a motorized scooter. I do not know how often accidents occur; but as a valuable lesson learned, I would confirm policies, practices, and procedures for protecting residents from mixed-modes of transportation in the hallways. and meeting areas.

My friend was at Croasdaile many years after living in the Methodist Home. Her family moved out of town and the care changed when they visited seldom. My friend had a private caregiver who was wonderful to her and to me but she was fired. The family was unable to hire her back. The reason was that the caregiver spoke up about poor care. Another client was a spitter and demented. I saw her spit several feet across the room. It was shocking and no one seemed able to deal with the spitter. My friend's private caregiver complained and suddenly she was trespassed off the property. Perhaps odd tales like this are common in care places for the aged but it was very sad for my friend. Her hair was not washed often enough as when I visited it was oily and I had not seen it like that before. I'd say if the family visits regularly, you will be ok but if you live in Pennsylvania, find a place where you can make regular contact.

The staff at Croasdaile Village was very friendly and very nice. The food was excellent. The rooms were homey and clean. They had swimming and exercise facilities. It wasn't a gated community.

My parents were among the first residents at this facility. They are now in a situation where they need constant care and rehab. My family and I have been extremely disappointed with the attention and care that they have received. We have had to ask for even the most obvious needs to be met. Neither has had a haircut in the last two months, their nails are like talons, they are never taken outside. Etc etc. My siblings and I live in three corners of the country and have had to trust that the care is adequate. For the amount of money they have paid over the past 15 years and the contributions they have made to the community I and my sibs are greatly disappointed with Croasdaile Village.

Our experience at Croasdaile Village was nice. The community itself is nice and very large. The staff is great, and they have an abundance of personnel there. I didn’t get to see any rooms since they have a 3-year waiting list.

I look around to see Croasdaile Village. It is a large facility, and it's very good as well. I was able to see the food and the dining area, and they were fine. During my visit, everybody was friendly, and there weren't any issues.

Everything is fine until you need greater care. The Pavillion is horrible. The less your parent can care for themselves the less Croasdaile cares about meeting their needs. Independent living is fine, independent plus is just ok, rest is very poor. listen to the spiel but read the reviews!

Both my grandparents were there until their deaths I found it a very depressing place. My grandmother broke her hip twice within a span of months, the second time because something was left for her to stumble on during her rehabilitation. Her bed had a pressure pad so if she got out of bed at night someone would help her back, but it seemed to be ignored - on more than one occassion, she would be found on the floor in the morning. Their concept of "activity" was to roll everyone out into the hallway and let them drool on themselves. And when my grandmother was finally dying, my grandfather was not brought to her room, to be with her, when she died. My grandfather was more cognizant/mobile than my grandmother but not able to take of himself. They finally moved him from his apartment into the higher-care place when he was having trouble with his colostomy bag. Yet they didn't do anything different, the bag would be overflowing or whatever. Plenty of other examples, too numerous to mention, but I would never put another relative into this facility.

This is an exceptionally nice continuing care retirement community. There are "cottages" for those who wish more space, but there are a large number of apartments of various sizes that are conveniently located in the same building as all of the activities and services. My mother's mobility is limited, and she did not want to have to walk a long way to access the dining room or various activity rooms. The best feature of this facility were the residents. In the dining room they were laughing and talking - engaged in life. Other places that we had visited were virtually silent, with residents just putting food in their mouths. The also have a heated pool with a retractable roof and many exercise classes in the pool. People also were seen in the exercise room, the craft room, and involved in various activities. Many places had those rooms, but they were always empty.

Croasdaile Village is a lovely community with nicely kept grounds and facilities. The entire facility is handicap accessible, and it takes great care to meet all of its clients needs. The community offers options for all levels of care from independent apartments through full-time nursing care. The staff is very helpful and responsive to both their clients and their families. The staff refer to the residents as Mr., Mrs. or Dr. which denotes the level of respect and dignity that the elderly deserve. My grandmother initially moved into an assisted living apartment at Croasdaile. Here she was able to retain a sense of independence; there were book clubs and social events for her to attend. She could cook for herself, but there was also a dining hall where she could enjoy meals with her friends. As her health declined, she gradually became unable to take of herself, and she stepped down into a nursing home type setting with more supervision but still a measure of independence. Eventually, my grandmother suffered from dementia and she was non-verbal for the last four years of her life; at this point, we moved her into the unit with full-time nursing facilities. The staff took great care of feeding, bathing, and caring for her. We really appreciate all that Croasdaile did for my grandmother in the last years of her life.

This is such a beautiful community. They offer several different levels of care and service. This really benefits people who may start off only needing very little assistance and then later in life they are able to get much more assistance if need be. This kind of flexibility is good because it will make people want to live there long term. They have different activities and events, regular church services and excellent meals. The staff is quiet but quick and friendly. The facilities are absolutely stunning. The outside areas are always well kept and beautiful. The indoor spaces are always clean and the staff is more than accommodating. When we planned to have my Aunt's funeral there, they were so helpful with the family. We had help organizing the refreshments and taking care of funeral arrangements. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It is a top notch facility and offers many accommodations for different kinds of needs.

The administrative staff member who showed us the assisted living facility was pleasant and informative. The facility is essentially a studio-apartment opening onto a broad hall-wat, an activity room and dining room. They gave us a printed current weekly schedule for the resident's activities. We visited a lady in her unit.We were a little surprised that we were able to have such an up-close visit with little preparation. The facility seemed well staffed and has an excellent reputation. We met random residents also who lived in the non-assisted parts of the facility (it is a CCRC). They were highly complimentary of the community, its facility and staff. In our current healthy status, it was hard to imagine being content living there, but it seemed that it would be a perfectly good choice if one physically or mentally needed it.

Croasdaile Retirement Center is a wonderful facility. One of the things that sets it apart, are it's upscale buildings and beautiful scenery. It has a nice rural feel with sidewalks winding through trees and around ponds. It is surrounded by beautiful homes and there is a golf course near by. The Croasdaile Farms area, where Croasdaile Retirement is located, has well kept sidewalks as well as walking trails. The grounds are well manicured and you feel as if you are at an upscale apartment complex rather than a retirement community. They have wonderful, restaurant grade food and regularly invite the community for gatherings where they offer meals. Definitely not a cafeteria feeling when dining here. They also offer many community sponsored events where the public is invited to the grounds. One example of this is an antique car show that was just held. Things like this give residents the opportunity to feel that they are participating with the community if they otherwise would not be able to. The staff is helpful and courteous, offering me directions when I visit. The location is perfect because there are museums, golf courses, bowling, and shopping all nearby for those able to participate and the center offers transportation. Another reason this is such a great place, and possibly the most important of all, is it's location when it comes to available doctors and medical facilities. Duke and Durham Regional Hospitals are right down the road, as well as Independence Medical Park and Duke Urgent Care and Triangle Orthopaedics. All in all, a wonderful place. The only drawback that I can think of is the cost. I don't know exact figures, but my understanding is that the place is quite expensive. I guess when you consider the amenities, it is understandable, but still, most people would not be able to afford this place.

Don't go here. My mother-in-law and father-in-law are at the Pavilion. The overall nursing home ratings give Croasdaile Village a fairly good rating. They say there are few skin tears at the Pavilion, that there are few bed sores, few people lose weight, etc., etc. That's not the truth. Weight loss, skin tears, bed sores are simply not reported to the nursing home board. That's what makes the Pavilion look good. I've seen the chart for my in-laws and their problems aren't even listed in their files...and therefore aren't reported to the board.

My father is here in the Pavilion. We're not very happy with Croasdaile. Although their staff/resident ratio is good on paper, we can never find anyone to help my father. They're either eating in the activity room or outside smoking. It has gotten better in the past six months, but the level of caring is missing. The staff doesn't really care about the patients. They can stay wet or messy when they're incontinent. If they don't want to eat right away, then they don't get to eat all all. Nobody comes back to feed them. The attitude is "well, too bad. They had a chance." I overheard one nursing assistant say to another one "I just wish these family members would go away and leave us alone." Unfortunately, rather than welcoming an occasional suggestion from family, they resent it. All in all, look elsewhere.

i really want to let everyone know that if your are thinking about retiring here,i hope you are very wealthy because once the money runs out you will be thrown to the side with the rest of them.they say they are non-profit but they should be because thats what they are all about its a shame they just bought a 130,000 dollar rv like transportation bus for the independent living residents only why is that it shou[d be for all their residents they all paid for it.As far as patient care its ok it could be better if they treated their staff a little better some of the department heads are very cruel and nasty to their staff and thats not good because we all know that happy staff means happy residents but of course thats croasdaile they make the rules as they go.they will tell you everything you would want to hear so that you can place your loved ones here, but once they are here its a whole new different ballgame.

Both my father and mother stay here. The place is fine for independent living. Once you move to assisted living quarters, it's okay, not great. The rooms in assisted living are tiny - the size of a motel room. DON'T go to the full-care facilty, the Pavilion!! If you parent becomes incontinent, they will stay wet and soiled for hours. Nobody will communicate directly to them (they treat them as if they were mindless objects -- believe me, I am there all the time so I know), and they will sit in their wheelchairs for hours on end. Nobody really gives a hoot about them. It's just a job to the caregivers.
