Brightmore of South Charlotte was beautiful. The rooms were lovely. I looked at one of the smaller rooms, but I felt like it was spacious. They looked like they were brand-new rooms. I love the shower. It was like a big zero entry shower. If someone were in a wheelchair, they could get into it. The facilities were beautiful. They had a card room, a billiard room, a kitchen room, and an all-purpose room where they showed movies. They had a designated exercise room for exercise classes. They had a physical trainer that was complimentary. I don't know how often you were allowed to go in there, but there was a woman who was getting one-on-one exercise class. The staff was wonderful. The dining facility was beautiful and the menu looked nice. The only problem I had with it is that it seemed like the yearly increases were high. They were less expensive though than the other place (which gave you two meals a day). This place gave you pretty much just one meal a day.

We like Brightmore of South Charlotte very well. It has a high monthly fee but not an entry fee. It's very nice. It has a nice variety of apartments. It's small. They have about 170 residents. We had food there, and it was very good. They've got a very good staff. They've got bridge games and card games. They've got a swimming pool, fitness center, and sewing area. They've got a pool room, a library, and several eating facilities including what they call a pub. It's very nice. The food we had there was excellent, but the place was a little bit older.

Brightmore of South Charlotte had independent living with assisted living wing, but my father said it was too big and too fancy. It was just too much for him. He didn't feel at home there. I love the place. I thought that's where he was going until he visited and said, "I don't feel at home here." The rooms had a full kitchen, which at the time is what we were looking for, and that's what he had wanted. Their setup was nice as far as they had an emergency button in the bathroom that he had to push every day and if he didn't push it between 6:00 in the morning and 10:00 at night, they would come looking for him. It was a newer kind of place. We looked at independent living at the time. That's what we were aiming for, but quickly it became clearer that he was going to need to go into assisted living. The staff during the tour was great, answered all my questions upfront, took us around, showed us everything, and let me come back several times to visit and on short notice, too. We did not do a meal, but they gave us a chef-produced dessert when we got there. They had a little box of cookies or something, and we did get to taste that. They told me that we could come back. They were having some kind of function and said even though dad wasn't there yet, we were welcome to come to that gathering they were having. I liked it. The room had a full kitchen, so it had a microwave, a stove oven, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator. They had an indoor saltwater pool.

We are very satisfied with Brightmore of South Charlotte. I liked the living accommodations, the staff, the activities, and our apartment having more space than other locations. There's exercise, movies, concerts, church services, special events, and so many different activities. We don't have to invest a lot of upfront money, since it's a monthly basis. There's a pool and activities room too.

Brightmore of South Charlotte was excellent. If I had to pick one, I would pick them. It's clean, it's beautiful, the apartments are wonderful, from what people say the food is very good, and they have a lot of activities. The staff we met were very nice. We had hors d'oeuvres with them one evening.

Overall a very quality independent living experience in the Charlotte/South Charlotte area. Great area with with plenty of stores and places close by. Both the facilities and the apartment were very nice and still felt brand new. They had great physical fitness areas and a pool for the residents. The man in charge of the physical fitness activities was extremely helpful and kind. The rest of the staff that I met were all very nice and helpful as well. The food was just OK. I didn't partake but got the feeling from multiple residents in conversation that there could definitely be improvements. While I was visiting, there was a very cool looking party being thrown in the ball room area for the residents. The daily activities, events, and outside trips were, by far, my relative's favorite part about this community. They, and their friends who lived there with them, couldn't stop raving about the activities staff. I would definitely recommend this community to others.

A nice residence but if you or your family member want any kind of creative outlet this is not the place! Most places have regular craft projects and painting classes. In all fairness, they do have someone that comes in to teach a painting class about once a month, sometimes twice, but it is not included in you monthly fee, you have to pay extra. The program director is simply not interested in it, despite all the research and evidence that provides older adults with multiple benefits.

Brightmore is very lovely. It's very nice, new, and clean, but it's already filled. The staff was very informative and very friendly. Everybody was friendly. You can have your house cleaned once a week. They have patios, but the apartments are not spacious. The only thing I didn't like about it, truthfully, is that the pool isn't open all day long. It is only open at certain times. If the lifesaver is there, you can go in, but when the lifesaver isn't there, you can't. However, in the morning they have classes.

The biggest problem with Brightmore of south Charlotte, without a doubt is the lack of a fully competent and professional food service staff that is well managed. This fact has been accurately confirmed by a large number of residents complaints, and by the experience of my own Mother. I am an executive businessman who has traveled to 20 countries and eaten in countless restaurants, and I went there to eat and had a bad experience right off the bat. At Brightmore, the restaurant service is contracted out to a 3rd party provider. Residents have a meal /food plan amount deducted automatically from their accounts, therefore the food and meals are paid for no matter what. Contrast this to a regular restaurant where you go in, sit down, order, eat and if the food and/or service is not to up to par, one can complain to management and demand some sort of consideration. When the food service is contracted out as it is in Brightmore to a 3rd party that is going to be paid every month no matter what, if the food or service is unsatisfactory, and there are complaints it is too easy to simply dismiss such complaints. There is little incentive to strive to please every customer. This is the root of the problem at Brightmore.

We moved into Brightmore of South Charlotte. The food is OK. The apartment is medium sized. It’s satisfactory. There's something going on every day and an exercise room program.

I had a nice visit at Brightmore. It was a very nice, smaller place. I thought seriously about it, but then I opted for another place. The staff was very pleasant. I saw a couple of the apartments that were almost what I wanted. They had one opening up in a month, but it was too fast for me because I have a home to sell. They had a pool, a gym, and trips that they take all of the time. It’s very much like the other places I've seen. They have a number of good facilities and activities, and it’s very new, so it’s just like moving into a new building.

The rooms at Brightmore looked very nice, and brand new. They have a pool, and a gym. I know two women who lives there. I don’t know them personally. They’re in a club that I belong to. These people drive, they can get out, and do things. They’re not confined there. The dining area was very nice.

I like Brightmore of South Charlotte. It’s very nice but it’s a little too expensive. The cleanliness is excellent because it’s in a more upscale community. The staff was very friendly.

Brightmore is a little isolated. You can't walk anywhere from there. I met one staff member, and she showed me around. The rooms were very nice with enough space, but none of the rooms I saw were furnished.

Brightmore has a wide range of different units, and they don't require a large deposit. The minimum age is 62 years old, and you have to be independent. They do have assisted living, nursing care, and memory care if you want to progress in that direction. The rooms and apartments are very nice. I went to the tour, and I've seen the ones in the category of the size I'm interested in. They are all very nice, and the kitchens are fully equipped. They have restaurants, and they provide you one meal a day. It is very nice because they have three different dining rooms. They have a dining room, an elegant dining room in case you want to bring in guest, and then a coffee shop. They have everything like a swimming pool, exercise machines, and a library.
