My mother is at Carolina Meadows. Their food is excellent and nutritious. They have fresh dishes and it's very diverse. It's one of the highlights of their program, that have a very good diet. The rooms are all very nice. What happens is you start in a house. When my dad died and mom got Parkinson's, we moved her into an apartment in assisted living. Then when her Parkinson's got so bad, we moved her into the skilled nursing facility downstairs. The houses are very nice. They are duplexes and you don't have any care (but you might have individual home health care). Then the assisted living apartments are one-bedroom apartments and they're very nice, too. They have a cafeteria where you eat your three meals a day. Then the skilled facilities are one room where you don't have to share. Maintenance is good. The staff is all very generous, very caring, and very thorough. They know a lot about geriatrics.

I am a resident of Carolina Meadows. I moved into this little apartment, and it's fine, but I wish it was bigger. I wish I had two bedrooms. I've been here a little bit now and it's OK. I feel like I'm in jail sometimes. I feel like they overdo it with caution. Maybe all places do that. They have all kinds of things. They always have movies and they have concerts. I play bridge. I don't really participate much in social affairs, although I could.

Carolina Meadows is very attentive to its people. Like if you don't open your refrigerator during the day, they're going to come to check on you, that kind of thing. They have ways to come check on you. My friend fell in her apartment, and they came and helped her. They're very attentive and very tuned into their residents. They care very well for their people. My friend had her own apartment, but she went to the hospital. When she's come home from the hospital, they would put her in the little hospital section, the nursing home part. When she was ready to come back to her apartment, they took her back to her apartment. She lived there until she died. She lived in the independent living part, and she never ended up in the other section. They're very attentive. The people all looked great. They get to come out of their apartments. If they can drive, they drive. If they don't drive, they still have activities. They have weekly meetings in each building. They have a nine-hole golf course on their property. It's a high-end place, They have independent cottages, too. They were a little more expensive, but they're beautiful. I met some of the staff. They care and they're on top of stuff. The food is very good. It's all handmade. The bread is handmade. They got a lot of activities. I've seen the parking lot, and I've seen the apartments. They're clean and spacious. They have a little storage facility, so if you are downsizing from your home and you move in there and you have just a few extra things that you don't need to store in your apartment, they have a small storage facility like locker-type things that you can put some extra stuff in. Most of the facilities that I saw did not have that, so that was a nice convenience. They're animal friendly, too. You can have a little cat or dog there.

My parents lived at Carolina Meadows for many years. It was the best retirement decision that they could have made. They lived in a large Villa for years, and then transitioned to the Fairways and finally, to the Pines. The environment was perfect for them. The other residents were similar to my parents: successful in business, worldly and very social. The atmosphere was very friendly; not stuffy at all. The food was outstanding. For years, I would meet my parents every Thursday there for lunch, and it was a real treat. The food was that good. Many family holiday meals were enjoyed at the dining room. Their Villa was perfect for them. Spacious, it was a high-quality build, and maintenance was always friendly and very responsive whenever something needed attention or fixing. I think that the best and most impressive part of Carolina Meadows is the staff. As they aged and depended on the staff more at each transition, my parents received amazing care. My sister and I became more involved as time went by. We made many unannounced visits, and at no time did we ever observe anything but excellent care for Mom and Dad. If you are on the fence about committing to this place, just do it! Like my parents, I think that you will discover that it will be the best retirement decision that you can make.

Carolina Meadows is an elegant and well-developed community with lots of facilities. They have four excellent restaurants, a club bar, a tennis court, and a golf course. It is the best one I have seen. It is as though it is a small country club resort. Everything about it is first class. The staff members are very cordial, very nice, and well-trained. I had eaten dinner there twice and the food was excellent. It was good as any restaurant.

One of the best facilities in the area. Extremely caring staff, beautiful grounds, excellent activities programs. This facility has everything a person could want or need.

I have been a resident of this fine community for seven years, and I welcome the opportunity to review it for interested retirees and their families. I truly believe that this facility is one of the best in the Southeast. It has a beautiful 160 acre campus, gracious and spacious villas and apartments, in addition to a beautifully decorated Assisted Living facility which offers apartments for singles or couples, and a nursing facility with excellent medical care for those who need skilled nursing. The food is outstanding, and the dining room immaculate, decorated charmingly and providing a lovely atmosphere for leisurely dining. The wellness program is outstandingl with many exercise classes, a large and well equipped fitness center, and a skilled and friendly staff. This not-for -profit community is owned by the residents, who take a very active role in program and committees. But the major joy of everyday life here is this: the residents themselves who are mostly highly educated, very sociable, and active in the community. There are varied and high-level cultural activities, including lectures, concerts, discussions and classes. All in all, the residents feel incredibly grateful to be living their later years in this wonderful community.
