My mom was a resident for just over a year. Her room was quite nice and a good size, just having to share the bath with one roommate was really good. Mom loved the large window looking out to the trees where she loved bird watching most days. Felt like the number of residents was just right. The staff seemed to really care about the residents and worked well with our family. Nothing is perfect but felt like they did a great job! During this trying time of Covid, the residents were isolated and that did cause much stress on Mom, as she couldn't get out, but the staff really went out of their way to help us have video calls with mom. They seem to do a good job taking care of so many in their individual rooms. Mom enjoyed having her hair done at the on site shop. She seem to really enjoy the game times and other activities. The little garden area outside was a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunshine in the spring and fall.

I liked Alamance House a lot. It was all in one building. When you first go in, one side was for assisted living and then the other side was for memory care. It was really clean and nice. I liked it. I liked the way it was laid out and the dining rooms looked nice. We looked at two different rooms, one semi-private (which was two separate rooms but it was the same bathroom) and then the companion suite (which was two people in a room, there's a partition in between the wall and they have the same bathroom). It's smaller but it was nice. They were having a meeting right then when we went in, but they had another lady to take us through and let us see everything. They knew the people and they were out of their room in the park. They have a place outback where they accompany you out there. They could grow flowers or have a little raised bed in there for vegetables or just something to do.

The biggest problem is medication not given and allowing it to run out. There are a couple of really good med techs but there are some that you wonder how they passed their test. It's a possibility they're lazy rather than incompetent. The only way to ensure your loved one is getting their medication is to stay on top of them and you still have to follow up because they'll tell you that's it's taken care of and it won't be. If you don't they could be going without an important medication for multiple days at the very least. Their selling point is the size of their rooms which are spacious and has it's own bathroom plus everything in eye view appears to be fairly clean. It doesn't have a strong smell of urine or feces which is good. If more of their staff could be competent it has the potential to be a 5 star facility. However I was gracious with my rating because to me medication is of the utmost importance in a facility and when staff allows medication to run out or just not give it that's a big problem and should be rated lower but I was trying to be fair about the amenities.

My sister is a resident at Alamance House... at first she was on the assisted living side and recieved minimal care at best I would bring her personal care product like soap, shampoo etc. And I would visit her atleast 2-3 times a week when I would visit she would be in the same clothes that I put on her from previous visit her shampoo, soap etc. Sat on the shelf and was never opened after 2-3 mos. I started taking time stamped video and taking photos of it and her condition There was a stain on the bed sheet everytime I visited so I also photographed that for 3 weeks in a row and finally had to ask for the bed to be changed so I filed a complaint and a meeting was held with a person in charge and head over assisted side and they told me my sister that has a TBI which causes her not to remember anything was digging in the dirty laundry to put the same clothes back on trying to convince me she was getting showers then covid 19 happened and I was unemployed at the time so I took her out because I knew what would happen if I wasn't able to see her or take her out for the day but eventually I returned to work and had to place her back in the facility so I requested she be placed on the memory care side which was more money $4200./mo. Thinking she would receive better care but nothing has changed i have reported this facility 3 times for the neglect and want to put her somewhere else but the next closes locked facility with memory care is in Greensboro N.C. also some of the staff are very rude so my advice to anyone would be do not put you relative, friend or whomever in this facility unless you hate them oh and I gave them 1 star because there's nothing lower

I visited a resident. We wanted to execute a healthcare power of attorney. I imagined elderly people need this. The staff was hateful nasty and threw me out because I wanted to execute this man's power of attorney. They called the police. I encourage everyone to avoid this facility like the plague. Staff seemed incompetent residents were sitting in the Hall drooling and I encourage everyone to pull their residents out if possible.

My husband is in Alamance House. They offer their own pharmacy and that's very helpful. The staff is friendly, and the nurses are nice and seem to be competent. They have a library and more than one place for sitting that had couches. Each person is allowed to have their own TV and even bring in a different bed if they want to. They have wide halls where the people can walk with their walkers or roll in their rolling chairs. They have a private room with a private bath, which costs more. His room is a private room with a shared bath. They had a guitarist come in for entertainment and some other people with instruments. They have a piano and anyone is allowed to play it. I had seen groups of women going out in their bus, and he played bingo the other day. They seem to encourage the people to be active. It's very close to the Alamance Medical Center, so it's convenient for the people to go to the doctors and hospitals in that area. It's not perfect, but it's a good place for people who need help. I haven't found anything that I object to. The facility is very well done. They have one area on one end of the building that is for memory care and the other areas are for assisted living. It's a long spread-out building all on one floor. They have several little porches that you can go out and sit and places where people can walk outside. Each room has a window. The floors are hardwood and it's an older building, but it's been kept up. I found them to be the most affordable for me.

Giving them one star is generous. My mother was there for one month and the list of things that were so far below even the lowest of standards is too long to put here. Within the first 24hours of being there my mother fell and they sent her to the ER, no one! NO ONE even called me...not that day and not the next....I called to check on her and a poor innocent CNA told me as a side comment. I am local and I would have and ALWAYS go to the ER with my mother...had I known. They ignored her requests to use the bathroom, my mother is wheelchair confined. I would go visit and there would be bags of soiled undergarments on the floor in her bathroom. Feces on the floor and liquid soap spilled one time. I asked them if someone could clean it up...I was there for 4 hours and not a sole showed to clean it. I ended up doing it myself. The staff left cigarettes on her night stand, her bed was unmade when I would visit. Her room spelled like urine. I have called the corporate office to express my concerns 7 times ( this is NOT an exaggeration) they have NEVER returned my call I left on their hotline. I left messages for the Executive Director and Regional Director. It saddens me that there is such little care and concern for the residents in this facility. It is evident to me now that this is a lack of good management. I would not put my worst enemy in this facility.

Never ever put your loved one in this facility. They are very understaffed and the food is absolutely not good enough to feed a poor dog dying. People line up to get their medications and they even loose the key to the medication box at times.

They said at the hospital that my husband needed to get into a facility, so they found this place for me that had an opening. The director came up to do an evaluation, and she thought he could work out for their memory care unit. It didn't work out, and he was there for only one week. They do not have a registered nurse. It is not required by law, but they are administering narcotics there. I did not feel comfortable with that situation where there is no registered nurse on staff. It was probably the medtech that basically administer the medication and looked after the patients. I don't think my husband got very good care there. Just in that one week, he had a trip to the emergency room. I was just not happy. They did not have the staff to handle his needs. My husband was in a semi-private room. It was just basic, because of course these are just dementia patients. I didn't think it was all that clean; it was OK. I just didn't think they have a very good care system there. I noticed they never washed his clothes the whole week he was there. The food was satisfactory. I didn't taste it myself, but he didn't seem to have a problem with it. I just think they need more qualified staff there. And they need to respond to the patients. They need to interact with them more and watch them more carefully.

My mother was in Alamance for a week. This is a new facility and it’s only two years old. They are very understaffed, I think they have too many patients for the staff to handle. The food looked like it was pretty good although she wasn’t eating much at that time. The facility looked very clean altogether.

Alamance House is wonderful. It's a homey place; it's clean. The staff is caring and kind and if they're not, they don't get to stay there. They didn't keep somebody with an attitude. I'm impressed with that because when you work with elderly, you have to be happy around them. The CNAs there and the medtechs are good. If you wheel yourself up to the desk and talk to them, they will respond to you and smile. The director is very good. They're really on top of things. The facility is only 1-year-old. It's beautiful. Mom has been there now since February and I am very impressed. They are really, really good to her and she is happy there. My mom is paralyzed on the left side so she doesn't have use of her left arm but she does participate in bingo and they have groups come to sing. They have preachers come to preach. The activity director does her nails on Friday. If you call a couple of hours before mealtime and just let them know so they can make an extra plate, you can eat with them. It's very reasonable. I do that from time to time and it is good food. I would recommend it.
