The staff (nurses, therapists, aides, maintenance, housekeeping) is wonderful. It is an effectant, caring and kind group. The Social Work staff is very helpful. Town-house includes a woman who helps the residents take care of personal things and always goes above and beyond. Can't do without her.

This place is horrid. The nurses that are in direct care with the patients are lazy and careless. I am familiar with the staff on the first floor. They take shortcuts much to the detriment of patients. They are not cautious and someone that was healing became critically ill. Aides are doing colostomy care and do not know how to. My loved one did not make it because instead of getting proper care the nurses were letting the aides do their jobs. Because of this aides do not want to get patients out of bed. PT was minimal. I also spoke to the doctor about his prescriptions. The doctor did not want to get involved in nursing politics. SO he got worse. They also lied saying he was 60 pounds less than his actual weight when he arrived. If your loved one needs good clinical care this is not the place for you.

I was a patient in this facility for almost 4 months...The overnight crew were cruel..they came on and let the music blare...talked loud and acted like they were on a picnic and not a job. The roommates I had were bad off- one kept wetting herself and she got yelled her - no fault of hers she had dementia. The day crew worked hard but can tell some not so nice...I was told be careful how u speak to the aides - they're the ones that take care of you,,,I asked if it was a threat? AT the end of her shift she came over to be to be extra nice. Nobody should have to be in a facility ever - some have no choice...Sad place to be. Loseing 14 lbs in the time I was there says about the food....non-dairy on my menu - I kept getting food w/cheese - also no shell fish - crab cakes to me are shell fish. The OT staff was diligent and got me to where I am today independent for that I am grateful...PT was excellent too.....No place like home...The activities when allowed to do them were good...e rooms are 2 in a room..people that are residents are in rooms w/patient.something I didn't understand -

My wife's brother is a resident at Townhouse, since he has been there we are happy with the care he has been getting. We realize that it is a daunting task to take care of people that have major issues. However, they have kept him going and the support from the people there is outstanding. From Admin people as well as the Admission experience were great and the Social Services department has gone out of their way to connect us with him and his family outside of the country. Thank you all for taking good care of him! Vilma and Tony Z

My father was a patient at Town house nursing home in Uniondale, for a year and it was extremely a horrible experience and place to send your loved one to be there as a patient. Even though he had Alzheimer's and slight weakness when walking, he was able to walk with support. The care was very poor that the nursing staff did not assist him to get changed or even give him showers. Each day, we had to go wash and change him. Besides the poor care, the staff was nasty and mean when approached. The staff used to leave him on wheel chair day and night without putting him back in bed. This caused severe swelling in his legs ending up with edema and cellulitis. They never assisted him with feeding, which we as a family had to go and feed him every meal. If one day we couldn't make it, he was not fed. My father passed away in a year due to the poor care and abandonment from the nursing staff, which was complained to the nursing administration numerous times, without any results. I hope this helps anyone who is looking for choosing a place for assistance. This shouldn't be a place for an elderly to be cared and certainly not for Alzheimer's patients.

Im happy about the care, the cleanliness and the staff. The staff are good and friendly. When you need help, they come. They are punctual. The rehab is very good and encouraging. They make you work as much as possible to improve your condition. They always come for you everyday. The rehab is a big step. I know this is a matter of opinion but I feel food needs improvement.

I am a patient at Townhouse. Happy/unhappy to be leaving this Thursday. I was on a vent and trach in their respiratory unit. My stay was more than satisfactory due to the staff and their willingness to do what they could to get me better. From the Janitor to the doctors, everybody was more than accommodating to my needs. The trick is the staff is as good as you want them to be. They know what has to be done, you need to follow their lead. I would definitely recommend this facility to everyone.

I cant say enough good things about the care that my late wife received at the Townhouse. I cared for her at home for several years but when it became too much i searched for the best place I could find on Long island. The townhouse staff, the aides, the social workers, rehab team, nurses and doctor became more than staff, they became friends to both of us. I was there daily and we became family. Eventually my wife Eileen passed and even afterward I was moved that so many of the staff came to the wake and funeral. Incidentally during the time she was there, a good friend to her and so many others Monsignor Thomas H of LI's God Squad fame, was there as well. I am grateful for all that the team at the Townhouse did for us.,

My mother has been in Townhouse for two months now, and it was good. My mother has been here for rehab, and they have the best rehab facility I have been to. The rooms were nice and big, no complaint about it, but the food was horrible. And some of the nurses could have a bit of a temper, and the aides were very nasty. They were very rude to my mother. They didn’t have too much of entertainment. But the physical therapy department is very good. she is learning to walk on her own, and she is doing good because of the physical therapy department; she is now using her wheelchair and able to transfer. Hopefully, she will be out in a month.

This is a horrible place. My grandmother was there for less than 24 hours. There was no way I was going to let her stay. She was sent there from Winthrop University Hospital. The staff here never read he discharge file from the hospital. They removed bandages that were not supposed to be removed. They tried to put her in the shower when in the instructions it said no showering. She had to wait over 20 minutes for a nurse to come in to assist her to use the bathroom. No one came. She wound up having to call home, so I could call the nurses station to get someone to help. Still no one came. The place is dirty and dusty. They will tell you they are understaffed. Very few people are nice let alone helpful. If you care about your loved ones, do not sent them here. I repeat, DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE.

They don't care about your family member. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have handed my father's life in their dirty hands. My father was much much better when he was home and in our care. They medicaid all their patients, so they can't talk and say anything about what goes in that building, and how they treat them. Now I have to live with this bad guilt for sending my dear father, who all he did was working hard, and taking care of all of us. No matter what keep your family member at home with you, and under your care. You will feel great at the end.

Our 91 year mother had two strokes, a series of UTI infections, and was showing early signs of dementia. She needed to gain strength before going home, and have her medications stabilized. The PT and OT departments were warm, caring, friendly and hands on at all times with mom. TEC has an incredible caring and loving staff. Dr. Fermo and her staff on 3 South were exceptionally patient with our mom during the most difficult times. They care about the patient and your entire family which is unique. Dan Schaffer, the facility administrator, checks in on his patients and families on a regular basis. We were extremely impressed with the activities for all patients. Mom likes to stay busy and TEC provided many things to keep her active. The News review, Bingo, religious services, educational movies were some of her favorites. We went to China for Chinese New Year! They even served Chinese food! That was her favorite. The facility is spotless! The location is conveniently located near the Meadowbrook Parkway. The staff really cares about their patients. Take the time to meet them, you won't be disappointed.

My wife is battling to recover from 5-brain surgeries --- and a medically induced coma as the result of an infection incurred in a hospital . Transferred to Townhouse, she has shown incremental --- but remarkable improvement. The staff at Townhouse --- in its entirety --- is committed to having her emerge and recover. Nobody can tell how this nightmare will end --- but the work of the entire Townhouse team of caregivers --- Respiratory Therapists; RNs, LPNs, CNAs; OT/PT therapists; --- the members of the engineering and maintenance staff -- even security staff --- provide expert care and personalized contact that cannot be described. They are all professionals. But they give new meaning to the word CARE-givers.

Everyone at TownHouse from the transporters to the physical and occupational therapists work together to help my rehabilitation. Their enthusiasm and dedication to me was truly amazing. These people make TownHouse a great place for getting better.

My sister and I toured Townhouse Extended Care and loved it, but they have a very long waiting list. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. We happen to know a friend who’s been there and was happy.

The rehabilitation staff was good. I did have some current concerns regarding the nursing staff. I think they could be a little quicker in assessing changes in her condition. The facility is very clean. I had no problems with that. It was a very nice looking facility as well. The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were clean, so that was a plus. I think they can improve on their nursing communication with family members.

Sorry to say that I learned the hard way that this place does not care about their patients. From the person that runs the facility down to the caregivers. Left my mother in her soiled depends for over 2 hours and only changed her because I was yelling at them. They did not respond to the calls for help almost everyday. Good luck if you put someone there.

My friend was in Townhouse for a couple of weeks for rehab. He has a private room, it was very nice and they kept him close to the nurses' station. The daytime care was okay but the night time care looked like they could use more help. The food was okay but he did complain about the food. Some of the aides need a little more training.

My mom was staying here for 2 months now. So far everything was good. The place was clean and well kept. They have a nice atmosphere and a gardened patios. They have 2 dining areas and they served good food. The people were nice and staff were professional and caring. Everyone was taken care of. I'm glad that we chose this facility!

This place - everything from the environment to the guard to the nurses - was excellent. My grandmother lived in this nursing home for the last 5 years of her life, until she passed away last Thanksgiving. We would visit her every weekend, and she would always tell us how kind the nurses and other patients were.It was a very low-stress, carefree environment with nothing to worry about, because lots of people were available to help. Here's some specific details:STAFF: Professional and kind. Whenever we needed something, they would get it, and actually more often were proactive about washing, cleaning for patients.AMENITIES: Good. This place didn't focus on amenities, but the few it had were kept clean.FACILITIES: Very clean. All the bathrooms and any rooms we visited were always clean and nice smelling. I was almost surprised how consistently clean they were.I am glad my grandmother was there, and that she was under their care until she passed away.

As far as nursing homes go, Town House is livable, even pleasant. The atrium, where most of the visiting is done, is a lovely room with a lot of sunlight and a lot of open space. The mobile and sentient patients spend a lot of time here, as do their families and visiting friends. The rest of the facility is basically a hospital, which is to be expected, but still a bit depressing. The staff is extremely pleasant, and do their best to remember family members and friends of patients by name. They treat the patients with respect, and their patience is legendary. When my grandfather was living in Town House, the entire staff, as well as many of the other residents and their families, were very helpful in trying to get him up and about, even when he wasn't necessarily sure what was going on, or where he was.
