My mom just came out of rehab from Riverhead Care Center. The staff was very nice, the rooms were clean, and I had no complaints. She had her own room, which was by accident, and a lot of them were doubles. It was great for her, it was wonderful, the activities were fine, and everything was good. The food was plain, but maybe that was what they need. They had bingo, but she wasnt involved that much in the activities.

My mother stayed at this facility for 3 months after her stroke. For the most part the staff here is excellent. But since it is a for profit operation and they are very understaffed, and overworked. They in no way gave my mother any personal attention and every staff contact was a "Cameo" in and out. She had an iPad so I could see this on our 2x daily FaceTime connections. Every week they would make little mistakes that would be annoying and turn into big mistakes. She arrived there from Stony Brook hospital with a PEG feeding tube and Foley catheter. After a week or 2 she was eating 3 "hot" (cold) meals a day at which time they should have arranged for the PEG to be removed, they never did. The Foley catheter was also kept in so they had a easy (lazy) way to deal with her urination. This ultimately became an issue for us because she now has to relearn how to control her urination. The PT that she received was a short daily check the box routine. When we brought her home after 3 months he had almost 0 mobility. After 4 or 5 days at home we got her to about 30-40%. It was not in their best (financial) interest to get her mobile. The last straw was the staff not responding to a few emails regarding her progress as well as the removal of the 2 medical devices she was connected to. With her 100 day Medicare paid stay coming to an end it was an easy decision to have her discharged. The $480 daily rate that Acadia charges can easily offset/reduced by her living with her daughter and an health care professional aid coming in 5 hours/day. Not to mention far better PT and personal care.

Riverhead Care Center LLC was not so good, and I would never send anyone there. It was a good thing I was able to get my mom out of there, but they do a pretty good job as far as giving her the therapy. Everytime I would call her after the therapy, she would tell me she's in pain. And when I'd call the nurses' station to ask if she was given her painkiller before the therapy started, they'd tell me they forgot, but there were a couple of people who were nice to Mom.

HORRID! Heather, one of the social workers there discharged my loved one septic! This was because medicare only pays for 21 days of rehabilitation. So he came home, almost died, went back to the hospital by ambulance only 3 days later only for him to return so they could get paid for yet another 21 days. In the meantime had they done the paperwork correctly the first time everything would have been covered with secondary ins. by now. Here we are on the 21st day again, and we are not that stupid this time. Sepsis is a very serious thing, you can die from this, but again she told me flat out, not her problem.. Heather told me flat out his safety after 21 days is no longer her concern, and is just flat out being abusive with the power she has to upset him and really showing her inability to care for the elder aging population. They are not about health and keeping you well, they are about MONEY, and money only. I have also heard the CNA's verbally demine him while I was on the phone. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!

My dad has been living at Riverhead Care Center for almost 2 years now. This place has made a huge impact on his life. Having to move away from my mom was not easy on him but was necessary for his well being. With him being at Riverhead Care Center my mother and our family know that he is always taken care of with the utmost respect and kindness. My father has always been a very quiet person but ever since he became a resident of Riverhead Care Center he has become more out-going. He takes part in and enjoys all of the activities they offer to their residents. The staff there are remarkable, the place is kept clean and his room made comfortable. We never worry about him with his health because the doctors from the Kao group and the Nursing and PT staff keep a close eye on all of the residents they take care of. They have a beautiful outdoor patio for the residents to enjoy that is very pleasant during the summer time. They celebrate holidays, they have birthday parties and family day and a lot of other things for my family to come and enjoy with my dad. It keeps us close to him and shows us what a wonderful place he lives at. From the time my dad went to live at Riverhead Care Center we have had a positive and comfortable connection with the entire staff. My mother and my family are extremely grateful for Riverhead Care Center and highly recommend it to anyone who may be looking for a place for their loved one to live. Thank you Stan C.

While my Grandmother was having a heart attack, staff kept dismissing our concerns. They came in and told her to "calm down", "take a deep breath", etc. Even if it was "just a panic attack" like you stated, after 5-6 hours of not being able to breath or "CALM DOWN!", something should have bene done. It took my older sister on the phone who is an RN to get them to call an ambulance. This place is horrendous. I understand being understaffed, but the people here flat out neglected my Grandmother and her health. It is UNACCEPTABLE! The aides have no idea how to properly weigh her and asked me for help. After two weeks of being here, my sister and I requested to see the nurse as to why my Grandmother was not getting cream for her leg. The nurse said, "Why, what's wrong with her leg?" That should have been our first clue. My Grandmother has SEVERE cellulitis and if in two weeks, the nursing staff hadn't even once checked her leg...it's a scary thought. Disgraceful.

you will have a wonderful experience here. The staff genuinely cares this starts from house keeping straight up to the top. They treat your loved one as their own with dignity and respect. I highly recommend this place for short term rehabilitation and/or long term .

My mother in law is in the facility. She had a stroke and we weren't able to take care of her. She likes being there. She enjoys the activities they keep her busy all day long. She like the music and the parties the most. It's like having an extended family. It's the best setting for our situation

My mother has been at RCC for over 7 years. She is given very good care. The staff is caring and attentive. if there are questions I can get answers. If I have concerns the issues are addressed. I can sleep easy at night knowing my mother is being taken care of.

My husband was treated for end stage hospice care at this facility. I cannot express how pleased we were with the care and pleasantness he received. We as his family were treated with dignity as well as he was, Never waited for care or help. The staff and doctors were very knowledgeable and shared with us what ever information we needed. The rooms were very clean as well as the rest of the facility. I would highly recommend this facility. Hoping some day if I needed care that I could be accepted there.

My husband is a surgeon. He had a fall and broke his hip, his arm, and wrist in July. The rehab and nursing homes were very, very good. It’s an older facility, but it was kept very clean. The nursing care, the PT, and the OT were very, very good. It’s called Riverhead Care Center and I would definitely recommend it. It has one wing that’s rehab and 3 wings that are nursing home. They have lots of stuff. They have bingo, movies, and a guy that comes in and plays the piano. They had a lovely courtyard with bird feeders, bird houses, and a fountain. Very, very nice. We spent a fair amount of time out there. The food is not so good. It’s not horrible, but it’s institutional food. Other than that, we were very pleased.

The social worker moved my mother at Riverhead Care Center. The woman who cleaned and took care of the laundry and the people who feed my mother are very good. My mother loves the food there. She loves the room. She loves the decor. When it comes to me getting mom for a visit or take her for any doctor's appointment outside they really don't want to let me even when she is hemorrhaging. They take her to where they want to take her. They won't let me take her to a doctor. They wouldn't let me get to take her anywhere. I didn't get to see her for Thanksgiving. There were so many slight problems. It took me two weeks to keep asking if I could take her out and I had to have her practice getting in and out of the car which had to be signed off by a physical therapist which I did, but it was hard me to let them sign the papers for me to take out my mother every week. I would be calling to see if I can get them to sign and I got frustrated.
