Our experience having my husband at Maryville Enhanced Assisted Living Center has been fine. The living atmosphere of the community is very good and the staff is very caring. His room is very clean and well kept. They have activities, trivia, and they play games. I have to say that everything there is really good and I'm pleased with the place.

About Maryville Adult Home, Inc in Huntington, New York
Welcome to Maryville Assisted Living Facility and Memory Care
Locally Owned and Operated Community
Maryville Enhanced Assisted Living is located in a residential area in Huntington, NY. We are a very small (32 resident) homey facility that provides a very high level of care with aging in place opportunities. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/swallowing therapy, special diets and diabetic care are some of the services that we provide. In addition, the independent wing located in our facility can also accommodate a younger population (70-80 year old's) in our ALR section at a reduced rate . As the resident's needs increase, they can transition into the Enhanced division at the facility for a minimal cost increase.
Since 1970 Maryville Assisted Living Center has been providing care to the members of our Community. As you tour our facility, the dedication of our interdisciplinary team is evident. Whether a resident comes to Maryville for a short term rehabilitation or a long term stay, each resident and their family becomes a part of the “Maryville Family”.
When you realize that your elderly loved on can no longer live alone at home, the choices can be overwhelming. But when you focus on what is truly important, the decision becomes a lot easier.
At Maryville, we have over three decades of experience helping families like yours ease their loved ones’ transitions to a new way of living. We know that above all, you want your loved one to be happy and involved, living in a comfortable, cheerful and homelike environment together with his or her peers.
When you enter Maryville, you will immediately feel at home. You will be delighted with our comfortable accommodations and warm atmosphere, impressed by our professional staff and -most important of all- happy to speak with our very contented residents.
You see, at Maryville, our mission is two-fold, but its also simple: we want to provide a real “home” for our residents, a nurturing, comfortable and family-like environment; we also want to offer peace of mind to their families.

Message from the owner Sandy Spielman
As a fellow health-care provider, you and I share many ideas about what should constitute a healthy, comfortable and nurturing environment for the frail elderly. First and foremost, a home for the elderly should feel just like "home". It should be spotlessly clean, scrupulously maintained and comfortably furnished. Staff should be professional yet caring and compassionate. The atmosphere should be warm and intimate, and all residents should feel that they are important members of their new "family".
We also share and understanding of the difficulties that face family members of the elderly. We know that role reversal is often a painful but necessary passage of life, which requires a major adjustment from all concerned.
But all it takes is just one visit to Maryville to allay all concerns. Prospective residents immediately respond to our warm welcome and homelike atmosphere; family members are delighted with our comfortable accommodations our professional staff and our happy residents who reflect so many different aspects of long-term care. Satisfied families and contented residents - that's the Maryville way and has been for over thirty years.

I like that Maryville Adult Home was small and clean, and there's a lot of staff for the residents. The residents didn't seem particularly engaged, but there wasn't a lot of space, so there wasn't a lot for them to do. The rooms were fine. The whole place was like a really big house, which you think would be nice and cozy except that there's nowhere for them to go. They can either be in the dining room or one small common area or their room. There's nowhere to walk. There's not a lot going on to engage them. Everyone was kind of always in the same space on top of each other. This did not feel at all like assisted living. All the residents there seemed way beyond assisted living. The person who gave us the tour was nice, maybe a little loud, but maybe that's because she's talking to people who can't hear all that. I saw the food and it didn't look great, but a lot of it was pureed. They have an activities person five days a week, plus Saturdays every other week. We didn't see any activities though. There's this one common room and I'm not sure with all the chairs in there what they do.

Maryville should not be considered for any individual. This rating should be negative stars.. The staff are kind, not sufficiently trained. The rooms are sad and in our opinion not up to code. Inadequately trained supervisory staff. The owner is certainly present and aware of the conditions. She, in our opinion, cares only about the monthly check. We can attest to that. Maryville Enhanced Assisted Living is not by any means enhanced or assisted.

Maryville Adult Home is very nice and clean. The rooms are clean and neat. The people are very friendly there. I just felt that it wouldn't have been a good setting for my father-in-law because I think it's more for people who are less able to do things. When I walked in around 3 or 4 o'clock, everybody was sitting in one room on couches, and I know my father-in-law would have wanted to either be in his room or he would have wanted more freedom than having to be altogether all the time. If there were more areas for them to move around and go to different areas at different times at their own willing instead of mandatorily being in one room at a time, I think that would have been better. The staff seemed very nice. The residents were well attended.

Maryville Adult Home is a small, enhanced living community for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. They also take in hospice patients. It's like a very large house, and it takes in just about 28 patients with two patients sharing each room. The staff only consists of aides, there's not a nurse on the premises 24/7, and it's only during the day. There's a certain amount of staff member for everybody. They kind of rotate, so they know all of the patients. There are staff members who really feel for the patients, and there are also those who don't really like the job and are just there for the money. They have a chef on the premises and the food is usually very good. They could cut up the food a little better, rather than expecting the elderly people to cut up the big chunks of meat themselves. They also have some good activities every day for the seniors there. They told my mom that she needs to stay in her wheelchair, but there isn't enough room for her to move her wheelchair around.

A place you can truly call a "home away from home". My mother is blessed to be surrounded by lovely staff and their professionalism. The house is homey, the food is fresh and the care superb!!

Wow! I was blown away. The food was homemade, tasty and fresh. My mother in law just loved it. What really blew me away was the staff - how her wish was their command! I could not believe a place like this actually existed in my backyard!! Rose Huntington Bay, NY

I really would discourage people going to Maryville in Huntington. The staff was very lovely, but I believed that there were probably not enough of them, and I didn’t think they were adequately trained. The owner could promise you everything, but I felt that there was not enough attention to the patients. The girls that were looking after the patients were very good, but they were short-staffed, and some of them could use some more training.

When my aunt could no longer live on her own, we were in a rush to find a place. The hospital's social worker helped. Maryville had a bed. Sandy -- the owner -- met us and was very welcoming. My aunt has been there since April. It's the best thing that has happened. The place is very clean, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and there's entertainment. It's small, so everyone is attentive.

It is a pleasure to give a review for this facility with approximately 30 years of experience providing PT home care services at various home residences, ACLD/adult homes, and numerous assisted living facilities. Maryville is by far superior in every aspect. It is a well organized and managed facility providing exceptional and consistent level of care to all the residents. The staff provide an extermely safe and caring environment. The facility offers extensive medical and recreational services. This facility raises the bar level high for exceptional services.

At the end of 2011 my Uncle was unable to care for himself at the basic levels and needed help. This facility is not a hospital or Medicare nursing home. He needed help, not a hospital bed. This facility is for seniors that are in decline, but still have a life ahead of them and family members who don't want to forget or lock them away. It is a small group home providing assisted living needs. My initial meeting and tour of the facility went well. The grounds and interior are pristine. I had visited other Nursing and Assisted living facilities before make the decision to admit my Uncle. He enjoyed a beneficial transition period. After 30 days he was well satisfied with the care, daily activity help, activities and rooming arrangements. He spent almost three years in the facility and I credit their care for making his remaining years/months/days comfortable. During that time and as he went into further decline the staff provided additional help as he required. Sandy and her staff are truly caring individuals. I had confidence that my uncle was being well cared for. The staff at Maryville have been with the company for many years. I recognize that a good work environment translates into retention of good employees and subsequently into the caring individuals necessary to provide quality care. My family were and still are pleased with the decision to have my uncle cared for at Maryville Adult Home.

I have been a resident at Maryville since 2002. I have been kept out of the hospital during this time because they take very good care of all the residents. My brother visits weekly and is always happy when he sees me. Please call Sandy and bring your loved one here.

Excellent! Maryville has been my mom's home for the last 7 years and I feel that she has never looked so good. Home cooked meals, managed medication and daily activities has given me my mom back.

My sister has been a resident at Maryville since 2010. She came to Maryville after a bad fall at a large AL community. She was in rehab for 3 months. She got better at Maryville faster than at the rehab because of the good physical therapy, good nutritious meals, and medication management. Maryville should expand their beds so more people could get this unique level of care.

I called Maryville when I was referred to it by the rehab center for a member of my family. I found them very capable, easy to deal with and the care was excellent and made my family member very comfortable. Barbara K.
