My father was at Sunrise of Dix Hills and they were fantastic. They had a bunch of activities. He never really participated, but he was just happy to be there. They were accommodating. They would go out of their way to help you with things, whether it was within the facility or even outside of the facility. The grounds were beautiful. It was like being home. It was just very nice. Sometimes they would have community things in their facility, like for Halloween they have a trunk or treat for the kids. If you have family they can come and do that. They had a craft fair that the families could come and do some shopping. If they had outside community programs within that facility at a certain date, they would post the date to let you know what was happening. They were great. I have no issues there. The food was amazing. However, it was expensive. I'm sad to leave, but we couldn't afford to stay.

We toured Sunrise of Dix Hills. I thought it was very good as far as I'm concerned. My mother-in-law at this moment stays in a room and it looks like the Sunrise facility was more likely to get her more involved, plus, it's $4,000 a month cheaper. We went out to all the rooms and spoke to the different people involved and saw all the facilities they had. They're fine. They're clean and bright and they have windows to the inside. So it looks like you have your own apartment. You can even have a cat and they have a cat that runs around there. We checked the dining area. They have an assortment of foods. Also, if for some reason you don't like any of the foods, they'll make you a basic hamburger, hot dog, or some basic food above and beyond what they're cooking. The staff was great.

I went to Sunrise of Dix Hills. The outside is perfect. The landscaping inside is clean. I checked and there was no offensive smell. It was clean. It was like walking into a hotel. The people that work there were very friendly and very helpful. They showed me the menus. The tours that can go on every week are different. They have a fresh cookie tray if you need it. If you don't like what they have on a menu for a particular day, you can have a hamburger or if that's all you survive on is hamburgers, that's no problem. Three meals a day and there's no set time. It's different from the way you have in your mind what a nursing home would be. The lady who took me on the tour answered all my questions. Everything I asked for, she either supplied it to me or found out and gave it to me even before I left the building. And if I had another question, sometimes I say, oh, geez, I should have said I needed to find this. She said just call and be answered.

Sunrise of Dix Hills was very nice. We only saw the admissions lady. She took a review of what my mom was like. Everybody seemed very interested and genuinely helpful. They made us feel comfortable. When we went on the tour, everything was clean and smelled nice. The people that we saw were engaged. It's not like people were sitting around in a hallway, like in a nursing home, ignored. They were extremely strict. Everybody gets a temperature check. The staff is tested once a week. Everybody, as far as I know, and we were told that it's 100% vaccination. It's a mandate there. If people have COVID, they're quarantined to their room, and the staff has full PPE and they're monitored closely. We toured a private and a semi-private room and they were lovely. Everything is pretty much neutral colors, clean and bright. You're able to bring in your own pictures and furniture if you want. All the rooms have their own little kitchenette. There were a couple of covered patios with rocking chairs and benches, and there were a couple of gardens outside. It was cold, so we didn't go outside, but when we walked in, we got to see what was going on around the building. We were in the memory ward. It was very clean.

I visited Sunrise of Dix Hills. It is a very pleasant facility but mostly geared toward assisted living, not dementia care. They are at the higher end of the pricing range. I'm sure some places specialize in dementia care. Some places have both dementia care and assisted living. My focus is on places that specialize in dementia care, or those that have figured out how to most effectively integrate the two types. When dementia care seems more like an afterthought, then it's not going to appeal to us. The facilities and location are a plus, pricing, and programming, a minus. It's a relatively new place. It was in good condition. It had a very nice, secured courtyard area for outdoor activities.

I visited the memory care at Sunrise of Dix Hills. I felt it was chaotic and noisy. They had pets there and I'm violently allergic to dogs and cats. Being ushered into an office where a cat sitting on the chair is not something that I wanted to get into. The person I met there was very, very nice. She was knowledgeable. I just did not like the place. She also said that some people there liked the food and some people hated the food. That didn't sound like a very good recommendation to me. The staff was friendly. But the ones taking care of the patients seemed more interested in cleaning up than talking to the patients. It was chaotic all around and that's not for everybody. I think they should do something about the craziness of their art and the noise. They have music going on which is noisy and chaotic for me.

We went to Sunrise of Dix Hills. We walked around the grounds outside and looked into the window of a vacant room and someone came out and spoke with us, and that was very well done. I have very good things to say about this community. They've been very helpful, forthcoming, and attentive. The room was appropriate for my aunt and uncle. It was good for the two of them to be there together. I did not go inside the building, but from the outside it looked very nice. The staff was very helpful and kind. It was not a bad experience at all. They know it's stressful and they know it's a lot to do, and they've been nothing but helpful. I saw the front porch where they had residents meeting with family members outdoors with masks on because they can't go inside.

Sunrise of Dix Hills was absolutely excellent. The people that we spoke with were just topnotch. They did have a myriad of activities. Every day they were doing something different. It was really impressive. The apartments were excellent as well. The layout was very good, especially the way they had it set up if you're going to have a roommate. It looked really good to me. It had a separate bedroom then a single shared room like a kitchenette. It was very nice. They had a beautiful menu, that part of it looked pretty good. The dining area was very nice, too. It was done very well. The building was older but it was in excellent condition. They have an exercise area, too.

We have decided on Sunrise of Dix Hills. We saw a double room, a two-bedroom, and two separate bedrooms with a shared suite and bathroom. We also saw a companion room with two rooms, and the junior suite. We were very pleased with the various activities that they offer. They also have some outings. I saw the activity room, the library, and the outside grounds for walking. They have a lot of anterooms down the hallways with little sofa chairs, coffee tables, and a larger TV. I saw some residents doing word games and there were crafts going on in another room. I was very pleased with all the amenities, including the medical services that they offer. There's a nurse practitioner and a physician.

My husband is in Sunrise. It seems nice and clean. People seem to do what they promise. It is a little more than an assisted living. It gives more services. The studio apartment is adequate. However, for the extra services, they charge quite a bit. It is very close to our house.

Sunrise of Dix Hills is very beautiful, very nice, homey, and modern. The people are extremely friendly and extremely helpful. It is a really nice touch that they have a dog and a cat that are both residents there. I really like that. My father would enjoy that, too. They have different sections for the memory impaired. It is almost like a big house, which I feel like my father would like.

Sunrise of Dix Hills had a very nice outdoor space. I met the administration people, and they seemed to be fine, lovely, and very caring. The apartments were spacious enough. They had a kitchenette with a nice refrigerator, counter space, and a sink. I chose a private studio for my mother. I observed it to be very secure; everyone is being paid attention to. I was greeted immediately upon coming in, they were aware of my appointment, and they directed me to the right place. Everything seemed to be organized.

I visited Sunrise and I thought their staff was professional and they had a lot of good information. I found the price was very high compared to all the other assisted living facilities I’ve visited. I thought it was way out of the price range; everything was a la carte. It’s a fairly modern facility. It was very homey and easy to navigate; there’s not a lot of ways to get lost because everything was centered around the center hall which I did like. I saw people exercising and I saw the movie room where everyone was sitting. The dining room was very nice. The living room was spacious, homey and opens to the rest of the units; it was kind of in the center and the rooms are off of the hallways and you could see the living area from some of the rooms. It was a clean place.

I was able to visit Sunrise of Dix Hills and the rooms were very nicely laid out. They were very accommodating to the residents with the belonging that they bring in. The environment is very thoughtful to the needs of the people that is living there. The residents looked engaged and some of them are participating in an exercise class and some were in the library so they were doing different activities.

I visited Sunrise, and I loved it. I thought it was beautiful, and the people were lovely. They went above and beyond in making me feel comfortable to have my parent there. There were absolutely wonderful. It just wasn't meeting my needs at that time. However, if at some point it would work and would be good for us, then that's where I would love my mom to be.

Mom moved at Sunrise of Dix Hills probably mid of November. The facility is clean, new, and beautiful. We chose that facility because the girl that runs that facility has really a big heart and she cares. She's really smart and she sold me on the place right away. The people that are out and about looked very happy. One of their tenants actually approached me and told me how much she enjoyed the facility. The food smelled good. They have a huge calendar of activities and they have them seven days a week. They provided mom all the supplies that she needs. They have a bus to drive them around if they want to go to places. They have possibly anything that you could want.

When my mother in law needed an assisted living facility that would accept residents who are in wheelchairs or choices were limited. In fact, Sunrise was the only one in our area that had the license to do so. In the end, we were very happy with them. They provide excellent care and she is actually doing much better cognitively then she did at her previous ALF.

They are extremely kind and courteous here. They treat my grandparents with respect and dignity and they always seem to be well taken care of. The people working at the reception desk always greet me and my parents by name when we go and visit and they always ask how we are. The building is beautifully decorated and is exceptionally clean. They have a very nice physical therapy center as well as a beauty salon for residents to get their hair and nails done. They also always have fruit and baked goods along with coffee, water, and juice out for residents and their visitors. It feels like an actual home, not a care center. The aids that help my grandma in the dementia unit seem to have extreme patience and are always kind to her even if she is being difficult about eating or doing something they need her to do. This place is absolutely wonderful and although it is a business like all other assisted living centers you never feel like it is. They are an assisted living center first, a business second.
