Upon my initial visit to The Chelsea on behalf of my aunt, who was in the late stages of dementia, I was struck by the facility's appealing aesthetics. I had a scheduled meeting with Francesca, responsible for handling new residents' admissions. During our tour, Francesca made numerous commitments regarding the services my aunt would receive, including memory assistance, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and more. She even assured us that residents could customize their shower frequency, which seemed like a great benefit. However, Francesca's initial enthusiasm resembled that of a car salesman, and regrettably, once my aunt was settled, any form of communication or follow-up from her end ceased. My aunt moved into The Chelsea in April 2023, and as of November 2023, we are in the process of moving her out. If I were to rename this establishment, "False Promises" would be fitting. While the facility's aesthetics are indeed impressive, that's where the positive aspects end. Shockingly, I was never informed that my aunt had ceased receiving physical therapy and occupational therapy months ago. Every time I visited, I found her in unsanitary conditions, often sitting in soiled clothing and emitting a strong urine odor. During my last visit, she had a black eye, and the staff couldn't provide an explanation for what had transpired. The facility's communication is abysmal. It was only through my insistence that they tested for a previously undiagnosed UTI during my last visit. I have never once had the opportunity to speak with a doctor. The only two individuals who exhibited any helpfulness were Monique and Sheila. On the other hand, Britney, the social worker, merely appeared to be busy with no tangible results, and Diane, the administrator, pretended to listen but failed to address the ongoing issues. My aunt's bed linens remained soiled with urine and blood for an entire week, despite my bringing this issue to Diane's attention. She assured me it would be resolved, but when I followed up later in the day, no changes had been made. Why would anyone willingly pay this facility $15,000 per month when they can't even meet basic needs? I had requested my aunt to be showered 3-4 times a week, but she was only receiving two showers weekly. I implore you to steer clear of this place. The staff's lack of care and empathy for the patients is evident. I personally witnessed an aide harassing a resident over a piece of chocolate. If they display such behavior in front of family members, one can only imagine what transpires behind closed doors. I am profoundly disappointed in the quality of care my loved one received at this facility.

I went to The Chelsea at Greenburgh. It was a good tour experience. The staff was nice, but I don't know how it would be once you moved in. They were very honest with me. I saw the woman that was doing the laundry. I met the woman that gave me the guided tour. I saw the woman that was conducting the Scrabble games. The rooms were very nice. The menu was very good. I didn't try the food, but they gave me a nice gift package of their homemade tomato sauce and pasta when I left. I saw they were having a Scrabble activity, and they had another game that was going on. I visited their arts room where the senior citizens do ceramics. I saw their outside barbecue area, which was nice. They also had cocktails in the evening.

The memory care unit is unequipped and unwilling to care for manifestations of dementia such as some non-aggressive inappropriateness. Apply only if you loved one is quiet or timid. Lack of transparency from staff. They left us in the lurch a few days before my husband's planned discharge from rehab. They had assessed him 3 weeks earlier and had concerns they never shared with us. We had put down a deposit (refundable), picked out the room and furnishings and packed up his things at home. We were completely blindsided.

The Chelsea at Greenburgh was very light, bright, and had a great positive atmosphere. I thought the director who took us on the tour was also very knowledgeable and very energetic. The way it was decorated really promoted a sense of well-being. Many places that I visited were very dark with dark wood, dark paint, and looked kind of sad and depressing. This was in very good spirit. They have lots of activities too and a calendar each month. There's arts and crafts, movie nights, karaoke, and transportation to places that you'd like to go. It was all good. The menu also looked good. There was a good variety.

The Chelsea at Greenburgh was beautiful, but since it's brand new, there were not many people in there at the time -- around twenty residents -- and I thought it was very, very expensive. It looks like a five-star building and feels like a luxury resort. I saw the assisted living side and the memory care side in one building, and the staff seemed nice.
