I toured New Glen Oaks Nursing Home. It's very old and very dated. The hallways look dirty. I wasn't impressed at all. The staff was friendly. She was very nice.

Resident here for 2 1/2 months. Younger than majority, I came realized how difficult it was to provide satisfactory services to a population that ranged 30 years difference and untold illnesses. But, somehow they managed in a caring and respectable manner. They tend to your room's cleaning and hygiene early and often. They make it a point to know everybody's name and to address them by it. Not having another Nursing Home to judge it by. They deserve 5 stars. Cannot possibly please everybody w/ the residents food restrictions.

This facility should not have a 5 star rating but instead should have at least a 6 star rating. The building and furnishings are old but the care is far more than anyone can expect from any nursing facility. My wife was there for about a little over a month and the staff cared for her as they would for their own mother. They kept her very clean, patiently hand fed her when she was unable to feed herself, and assured she was safe throughout the night, constantly checking on her and taking every physical precaution necessary to insure a safe restful sleep. When she passed away our entire family surrounded her along with the aids and nurses that took care of her. There wasn't a dry eye among us including the staff. I met the owner and am convinced that he is the reason for the quality of care that they deliver. If ever I know of anyone needing these type of services I would highly recommend The New Glen Oaks Nursing Home for outstanding care and compassion. This might be one of the best of it's kind in the country.

My husband’s mother is currently in New Glen Oaks Nursing Home. The staff has been very good. You can go basically any time you want; they just ask that you come after 10:00 a.m., but if you really wanted to go in before that, you could. They have been very responsive. She is very ill right now and getting palliative care. It is an old facility, nothing fancy, but it is close to home, and we’ve been happy with the care that she has received. They have day activities and a recreation room.

I knew nothing of this facility before my Mom was admitted. She was a patient there for 3 months and was very well taken care of. The staff especially the aides were fantastic. She was admitted there after a 2 month stay at a local hospital. She was extremely deconditioned and had many decubiti. The staff at New Glen Oaks cleared up her skin . The rehab department strengthened her muscles and tried their best to get her walking . I was very happy with her care there.
