My mom lives in Flushing House. They have a lot of activities. She does not participate in most of them, but they are available to her. They have an in-caption TV. They have exercise on the TV, so she doesn't have to go down to the room that they're doing it in. She can just watch it on the TV in her own room. The flip side of that is the TV is constantly going out. It's attached to the antenna on the roof, and when the wind blows, she loses the channels. And sometimes it's not working. At this point, it hasn't been working for about three weeks since we had one big wind, and it knocked something off. The meals are very good. The dining hours are a little bit short. If you're not ready to eat at a certain time, you're going to miss the whole meal. I think the dining hours should be increased. Communication is iffy. Sometimes it's very good, sometimes it's not. For example, they put the week's menu in the slots outside of each person's room, but sometimes they forget to put menus in certain places. The whole third floor won't have a menu for the day, and without having a menu, we don't know what they're serving, and that can be a problem. Some of the people are outstandingly good. There are people we've spoken to who go out of their way to make sure that everybody has a pleasant time and that everything is correct. And if there is any kind of issue, they take care of it right away, even if it's not their responsibility. I would say that their staff are excellent. The rooms are beautiful. They're nicer than any of the other places I've seen. The building itself is on the old side, but it's very well kept up. My mother has a beautiful one-bedroom apartment. It's very spacious. It's very nice. Her doctor is located on the first floor, so she doesn't have to go out of the building to go to see her doctor. The food used to not be great, but they've gotten much better. They have a good variety of foods. If you don't want the featured menu, there are always certain choices that you can order. They don't do breakfast and they do brunch on Sunday instead of lunch. But you can go down for a continental lentil breakfast.

I had a friend who was at Flushing House for a long, long time, so I visited every week. I liked it because they had a medical area. The apartment was lovely. You could even get a one-bedroom or a studio. Every day, they had breakfast, dinner, and supper in the area downstairs where everybody came at the same time and everybody knew everybody. There was a theater in the building so you could go to the movies, and they had an exercise room. They had a room where they had entertainment. They had buses you could take if you wanted to go out of the area. The food was very, very good. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very attractive. The rooms were nice and clean. You could have food in your room if you wanted it. You could have it sent to you. That would be the kind of place I'd like to be. Everybody was so wonderful. They played cards, Bridge, and Pokeno. They cleaned every day. They cleaned the bathroom. They brought in different towels. They did the laundry and they brought it back. It was very, very good.

They are very nice and you can tell they really care about their residents. My Mother has been a resident for over 4 years. They offer lots of activities, doctor visits, hair salon, aide services. Highly recommend.

Flushing House was very nice and had nice rooms. It was clean and much cheaper. It's not like a hotel, but the 1-bedroom was lovely. The only downside was that the dining room was right off the main area. You see a lot of these older people with wheelchairs and walkers walking in. It just gave you a funny feeling, like it was an old age home. But the room was beautiful; it was very nice, and the staff is very nice.

Flushing House was an older building with very nice apartments. The one-bedroom was very large and had a walk-in shower and kitchenette. They had a home health agency, physical therapy, and occupational therapy available on-site at a cost per hour. We saw the whole building, and this was the only place my mom wanted to go to. They had a movie theater, a chapel, different activities, and a van that took the residents on trips. We saw people doing arts and crafts. They had a very nice music studio. We ate there, and the food was delicious.

Flushing house is located conveniently for us to visit my brother. The price was nice. They have activities, and doctors come to them periodically. The rooms are adequate. My brother seemed happy there.

My mom is in Flushing House and everything is fine. She’s a difficult woman to get along with and the staff is incredible and so patient. There are a lot of activities: all kinds of classes, outings, physical therapy. There is a doctor that’s on staff 3 times a week. We did have to arrange with someone to come in 3 times a week to help her with her laundry and help her with showers but I’m very pleased. It’s very well maintained, very clean, and they’re always updating things. They inspect the rooms to see if anything has to be changed or updated. They just did the whole lobby over again which I didn’t find anything wrong with in the beginning.

My mom is over at Flushing House. They have 24-hour security, three meals a day, and the food is fabulous. She has a studio apartment, and it is very nice. The people are very friendly. It is a 55 and older building but quite a few residents have walkers. The atmosphere is very friendly -- the people and the staff are very friendly. The place is very nice, and I would recommend it very highly. They have so many things going on like arts and crafts, and they have an exercise room, library, beauty parlor, bank, computer room and movie room where they show movies every day. They have bingo, cards -- they do everything. The doctors are there, so really, it is a community in itself. I like it very much and would suggest it to anybody. There is always something going on, which is what I like about it. The people are very busy over there.

My brother is at Flushing House last February, and he loves it there. He has adjusted very well. The staff is excellent, and the food is excellent as well. The place is dated, but it is kept very clean. They take care of my brother's needs, and they have emergency cords in their rooms; I like that. They have daily activities like they take them on trips on where they want to go. Their food is great as well.

I visited Flushing House’s premises, and everything was alright. We talked to some of the family members, and they just had enough to do. The facility was very clean and nice, and everything was well presented. There were no problems at all. We were there during the lunch hour, and the dining room looks OK. The place was safe and secured. What really impressed me was the proximity to public transportation.

Flushing House is a beautiful place. It's very big, and they have a gorgeous rooftop that has a beautiful view. The staff is so nice. If my mom had the money, I would put her there. I heard the food is really good. However, I guess the price could be cheaper because it was $2,500. It's a bit expensive, and my mother can't afford it. But I think the most selling point of that place is the beautiful view from the rooftop. You can sit up there and you see the sunset and sunrise. The dining area is like a restaurant. But they don't serve breakfast. For $2,500 a month, they should include breakfast. They only serve coffee and a donut. Elderly people need a real meal, especially first thing in the morning. It would be really good for them because it's just the most important meal of the day.

My folks both lived in this facility for 2 years. After my mom passed my dad moved in with my brother. While they lived in this facility they were treated with dignity and respect. They both enjoyed their time there.

My father is in Flushing House and so far so good. He is there for three weeks already, but he is happy. We have checked a couple of places, but Flushing House's location is perfect. Service is also good. We are happy with it.

The Flushing house seems like a great place, every time I visit my uncle he is in a fun mood and is always busy playing cards with his friends from the building. It wasn't always the case. I remember when he first moved in, he was quite anxious and uncertain about the whole thing. It took a couple of weeks for him to get settled in, but he made some friends and the staff took a liking to him. The amenities are fantastic and are reminiscent of a summer camp for the elderly. Of particular note is the pool and the large game room with the huge televisions. The game rooms are always crowded - but he says thats a good thing: "there is always something to do". All is all both he and I are very happy with the place. The food is so so in the taste department but generally very healthy. Good thing considering he is a diabetic.

My mom has been to Flushing house for quite sometime now. The staff is really nice and they are all terrific! They are very knowledgeable with regards to what they are doing. I am really satisfied. She made so many friends easily and she's really happy about it. Her room was really spacious and beautiful. This is a great place to live.

My friend is settled in Flushing House. It's a non profit. It has a regular meal. When the money runs out this flushing house will subsidize her and put her on community medicaid. She doesn't lose her room and she will stay in the same place. It's non profit that's why they could do it. So all the other facilities that we visited are all profit making. Also my friend is more mobile where she is. This place is close to church. She can actually walk to church any time she wants because she's very religious. I'm pretty sure she's in the right place.

Very nice and new; perfect for my 90's parents. They'd have 2 BRs, but think they are too young to move in now!
