My mother is in a home now called Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing Home. So far, it's been a good experience. They take good care of her and she's comfortable there. Her room is comfortable and the staff are very caring. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. The residents sit around and congregate. They seem to enjoy each other, and the staff members seem to be on top of things. I haven't tasted their food, but my mother is not happy with the food. She said the food doesn't taste good. Most of the time they eat in their room. The dining area is a big open room, and then on the side they have where they serve the meal. For activities they have games like bingo. They have several games, and they have a TV in the area where they congregate. They have cats that interact with some of the residents.

STAY AWAY!!!!! My mom was there for rehab after she fell. I found most of the nurses rude most of the staff unhelpful and in general a very unpleasant experience for my mom and those who visited. She was there for rehabilitation and I was told that she could walk with her walker and some assistance. When she came home my mother wasn’t able to go two step’s without two people helping her. She never had a walker in her room, we weren’t shown how to bring her to the bathroom or how to help her with her walker. She was always in a wheelchair and I’m doubtful that she was given therapy at all. If it wasn’t for my 96 year old dad going everyday from 11-7 to make sure she ate I think she would have dropped even more weight then her already skinny frame could have handled. She is now home and I was told a nurse would come the next day. I was never called and had to make many phone calls to finally get an answer about this. The nuns are not welcoming and the staff are not caring. There were no activities for them the rooms were a disgrace the food was disgusting. I base this on a experience from another rehab that my mom was in a year ago where she came home walking. Stay far away from this place.

My mother is a current long term resident and I would like to applaud the professional expertise and caring respect from the Social Work department extended to my mother. They engaged, encouraged and supported her during her difficult transition from independence to being cared for by others with compassion. The patient rooms are immaculate and the entire staff displays patience and reassurance. We are very Thankful for my mothers admission and recommend Ozanam Hall in every aspect and level of care. The Medicaid consulting team and Finance office have all been there to answer our many questions as we navigate this new road. Thank you to the Carmelite Mission and their administrator for providing dignity, compassion and skilled care to their residents.

Ozanam Hall is a very caring and loving facility. They do their utmost in providing personal attention and diligence to every resident. Everyone is dedicated, loyal, and willing to help in any way possible. I highly recommend this facility. My parent is currently at Ozanam and receives top notch care and respect. Home is clean, staff are excellent and professional, and the Administration is attentive and welcoming. They are in constant communication with the Resident's appointed family member and are active in providing "FaceTime or Duo".

We are all living in a crazy world right now. After 4 weeks of this pandemic, nursing homes are under attack because they don't have enough supplies and staff. NO ONE has enough of either right now. I, like so many other family member, are losing it because we haven't seen our loved one in so many weeks! I also know, however, that everything humanly possible is being done to protect my mother and all of the residents of Ozanam Hall. I know that the staff and the nuns are working like crazy to keep the virus from spreading. My siblings and I talk to our Mom every day and have done some FaceTime calls. I just want everyone there to know how much I appreciate their hard work and dedication. They, just like the doctors and nurses that we see every night on TV, are putting their health and lives at risk.... just by going to work! You are all in my thoughts and prayers every minute of the day. I think of all the wonderful people who keep that building running.... Peggy in the 8th floor dining room, who always has a smile on her face and says a kind word to every resident as they enter the dining room. Anna, in housekeeping, who goes out of her way each day to talk to the residents ... all while doing her difficult job to keep that place immaculate. The CNA's.... Sharon, Ammaprete, Eve, Donna.... and all of the others on the 8th floor....you are all wonderful and I pray for your safety and the safety of your families. The nurses.... we will forever be in your debt. Shirley.... the head nurse.... knows every detail about every resident on her floor.... handles every detail with a smile and complete professionalism. Thank you and again, please know that the families support you, miss you and pray for you. XOXOX

Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing was very nice-looking. It was very modern. We're actually looking to put my aunt there. The staff was extremely helpful. We had a very nice tour. They have dining facilities on every floor. They also have a chapel on site, which is important to my aunt.

My elderly parent went here for rehab after falling last year. It was cleaner than the other rehabs I inspected. The aides were all very warm and caring towards my parent. The furnishings are very old fashioned in the rooms and TVs could use an upgrade as the one in his room did not work a lot. The food was okay. The activities were sufficient. Some things were stolen from his room while he slept and the administrators and security did nothing to find the perpetrator despite the ability to view security. Very unnerving that the elderly were vulnerable in their own rooms. The rehab, however, was excelleant.

The nursing assistants are ok. Some are helpful others don't want to be bothered. The administration.was cold and unkind. I expected more from the sisters that run the facility. If your family member has to go to the hospital for any reason, and they are admitted the facility charges a 500 dollar a night fee for holding a residents room. I was shocked by the fee and that such a display of greed would come from the nuns who run this home for the aged. The food is adequate and the rehab is sub-par. There are hardly any activities and when you walk onto the floor to visit your loved one expact to see a lot of elderly sleeping in their wheel chairs.

My mother is in Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing. The staff is helpful, and it's clean, but the care isn't as good as I thought it would be. The food is not very good. The dining area is fine, clean, and orderly. They have a lot of activities for the residents.

When I first came into Ozanam, the place was immaculate, and the staff was very helpful. They have security and information right at the front desk. They have an activities director, so there's movie and music activities. There are a lot of Catholics living there, so they have a mass. I saw a few activities, which I thought were very nice.

My uncle was at Ozanam Hall of Queens for years. It was a wonderful place. They had wonderful staff, great recreation, and good food. People were well taken of. My husband could not go there because he was too young. The food was pretty good. No one there complained. My uncle always ate in his room because he always had visitors at dinner time, so he did not go to the dining room quite often, but it was very nice, big, spacious, and bright. The recreation was great. They had different bands or groups come in and play for them every Sunday. Entertainment and activities were great. Security and safety was very good. There was always somebody there. I do not think they should improve on anything. Everything was pretty good there.

Three of us from our family went on the weekly scheduled tour of this large facility in Western Queens. It has both short term and long term care. It had a high staff to patient ratio. Although it was a somewhat older building, it was in good condition and very clean. We observed the staff being respectful of the residents and the residents themselves seemed very comfortable at home in Ozanam. We were impressed by the number and variety of activities available for the residents. It is run by the Carmelite Sisters and their compassion was evident wherever we went. If and when the time comes for our mom to need a full time nursing care facility, Ozanam Hall is at the top of our list.

Most staff were helpful and genuinely wanted to help the older folks. However, there were some members that clearly did not want to be there and that quite frankly ruined the atmosphere. They did not treat the residents with respect. They disregarded the residents requests. Other than that, it was an awesome place to volunteer and I loved being part of the activities group that organized activities for the residents. We played bingo, had tea parties, watched movies, and it was really fun. It was awesome seeing the smile on the resident's faces when we had the activities.
