I toured Everest Assisted Living. The facility was excellent. I liked that facility, but it was out of my reach for cost. It seems to me they had things going on. The director was very energetic. The staff were really supportive. It was very homey. They had a nice backyard. The woman was cooking food when I got there. She prepares food early in the week on certain occasions, and then they warm them up. So in a sense, they're kind of freshly prepared. She was cooking some meatballs, something or others, and she was busy doing that and packaging them up. I thought that was kind of cool.

Everest Assisted Living knew I was coming for a tour, so you're going to be on your best behavior and whatnot. But the people were friendly and very cordial. It was a great place. The residents were just getting their day started, so I didn't see anything going on. But I did see a calendar of what was up and what they usually do when the activity director is done bringing them in and so on.

The first choice I had was Everest Assisted Living because that was a wonderful, wonderful place. That's the choice I made, and I was going to put my mother there before she had her stroke. I was already in the process of filling out paperwork and stuff to put her there. When I walked in, and just taking the tour, I felt like I was back home. It was just amazing. At the time, there was only three residents, but they were all sitting at the table and eating. The atmosphere was just amazing. Everybody was happy. It was just like a home environment. A lot of these people that have problems with dementia or Alzheimer's, just being in a home environment, I think, is important for them. It makes them feel good and not in an area in a room somewhere where they forget about you and stuff. Also, they allow you either to furnish the room or they can furnish it for you. The staff who took me around was amazing. She explained everything, she showed me everything, and she kept in contact with me. At the time, she was baking cookies, and so I had a cookie. They were homemade and they were made with good ingredients and not processed ingredients. There was an outdoor space, the backyard. There's plenty of space for them to walk and to do whatever they need to do. One of the things that really interested me was that the staff has exercise machines for the people in the house, so they can either exercise inside or they can go outside and walk or just sit around or whatever. It was very accommodating.

I would highly rate Everest Assisted Living. It was a pretty good size, a pretty large home for the number of residents and there was plenty of space. The kitchen and meal facilities were quite nice in that place. That was sort of my second choice among all the places I looked at. It was very nice. They had 24-hour availability of supervisors and nursing care. They were a little bit inexperienced; they were younger nurses. The person who gave the tour was very good. Their facility was very good.
