I toured Haven Care Cottonwood more for its memory care. It has five residents. It's a home in a neighborhood. It is a secure place. It is still like a home in many ways. There's like a utility area where they do laundry, there is a kitchen, there's a living room where people hang out, and there's the backyard, which is very nice. And the residents all have rooms that would be equivalent to bedrooms. And so they're a little bit basic. Haven Care Cottonwood is probably better for someone who is farther down the line in terms of memory care needs, like more towards the late stage of dementia, but it's nice. I felt very welcome there, and it's very comfortable, but I was concerned about the staffing because there was only one staff member for those five people. If things were going wrong, that person would really be hard pressed to help everyone. And the facility needed some updating.

I toured Haven Care Cottonwood. It was a warm environment. It was like a house-living experience. The living room was nicely set up to remind you of home. They had a visitation area put to the side for families if they wanted to visit. Their rooms were decent, and they could decorate them how they wanted to. They had a very large shower restroom where they could go and they had an extra restroom for guests. The kitchen was small, but it was large enough, I think for a family of five, so the staff could cook. It just looked like they cooked a lot of home-cooked meals, which they did. I would like to smell the food cooking. I think that adds a lot of flavor to the community because my mom remembers that she loves it when food is cooking so they can smell food cooking, and then they get served and eat. They have their own bedroom so they can go lie down whenever they want. They have activities during the day. It met all my hopeful expectations from my mom because my mom is special to me. The young lady that I met, she's the administrator, Dimitria. She is dynamic. She just seems very knowledgeable. She seems very confident. She seems very kind and caring, and I just think that overall you see someone I would not mind interacting with because she just seemed to know what's going on. She even knows about the levels of care. Estella was a person who was there to take me on the tour, and she was just dynamic. She's got a lot of energy and is very positive, very kind, and very compassionate. She loves her work. She was telling me how much she enjoys her work, how she cares about the residents, and who she is.
