My father is at Care Free Living. I already knew about this place from before because my grandmother was there. It's a nice, large building, and it has a lot of open space with a lot of lights. The staff is very attentive. The place is very clean. Because of COVID-19, I had an opportunity to go to the laundry and some of the back areas when we were getting him set up, and it was very clean, even in those areas which no one sees. They have private rooms and shared rooms. He has been in quarantine, but I know they have activities with the people that are there. They have bingo, music, and different stuff like that for them. The building is kind of U-shaped, and in that U there is a big patio, an arbor back there, picnic tables, and things that they can put outside. Right now, they are still doing visits through the window. If your patient is really mobile, they could come outside and there's a big table between them, a barrier is up in the middle of the table, and you can talk to the patient that way. Foods is really good, too.

The lady that showed me around Care Free Living was a very nice person. She seemed like a caring person and was dedicated to her job. What I didn't like about it was that it was more confined, and looked like hallways. If I was put there, I would not feel comfortable being in those enclosed places the way it was laid out. So I was not impressed with that. It was spotless clean. I could see that they really tried to keep it very, very clean. They had an outdoor area that had a fountain, and that was pleasant. Other people could go out there and sit; that was nice. The staff was very sincere, cared, and took her work to heart. I think that the rooms themselves were fine, they were well kept, but I just didn't feel good about the building itself, the way that it was set up.

We were at Care Free Living. It was very homey plain, but the help was terrific. You couldn't ask for better people there. They're very caring people who care about the person and not just what they're doing. However, food was zero. Their menu will say cordon bleu, and I know what cordon bleu is, but I never had it where the chicken was all chopped up in little pieces, they didn't have ham or cheese, and it wasn't breaded or baked. It didn't even resemble cordon bleu. So often the menu said one thing but it turned out to be something that wasn't any similar to what's standard. The room was nice, but it was too small for two people. We had exercise and bingo. They read a book to us, but the person wasn't even gifted in expressing and it drove me nuts, so I didn't go. Activities were very limited. The price was extremely high. They had no transportation, so you had to get your own way to doctor's appointment. They also had no shopping trips, so you pay a taxi if you want to leave the property. It was just way too expensive.

We placed my mom into Carefree Assisted Living. The appearance is very good and clean. It's more at the intermediate care level, so it looks a little bit like a nursing facility rather than assisted living. Their response time is a little low. Their ratio is one to six. The dining area is clean. They do a good job feeding and taking care of my mom. The food is very good. She has been very pleased with it. She watches TV with them. Activities are good, but she hasn't really gotten involved in that. They have a hairstylist on Saturdays.

Carefree Living is a wonderful residence. The staff are caring and attentive, and the owners and involved in all aspects of the daily care of each resident. The staff and owners treat each resident like family. It is a locked facility so the residents are kept safe. The facility is clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend this facility.

I'm just lucky I found Carefree Assisted Living for my mom. It's a very good facility. They really have an at-home environment if they can. They have 48 residents, and their ratio is way above the state. The owners are always there, they're hands on as well. They are very caring and attentive. They have private and semi-private rooms. My mom is in a semi-private room, but the rooms were bigger than where she was at before. The bathrooms are Jack and Jill bathrooms, but they're very spacious. They organize and do the laundry, have activities like Bible study, arts and music, and groups come in. They always have the residents outside of their rooms, especially the ones that can be outside. There is food from scratch and water, tea or coffee is available as well.

My wife is in Carefree Living. It's one of the ones that are close to home and it's within 5 minutes of the house. I'm not exactly happy with it but they seem to take care of her well. They don't seem to have any activities for the people. My wife says it's going downhill. They're locked in. As far as I'm concerned, it isn't that big. They don't have that secure facility as far as I can see.
