I visited with my sister who has Dementia. I was pleasantly greeted by the front desk who was Very helpful. The place was Very Clean and the people I encountered were Kind and Pleasant. The Floors were clean and there were no unusual odors. My sister was well dressed and her hair was groomed. The food was acceptable to each Patient. The staff who worked where they were eating were Very Kind and Caring. My sisters room was Very Clean and her bed was made with clean sheets. I left feel that my sister was in the Best of hands. Thank You to All The staff who put their Hearts and Souls in Caring for these Patients. God Bless!

I visited my 78 yr old Mom and was very uncomfortable as I walked past the nurses station hearing the staff loudly complain about the patients and mocked them! I thought...how ignorant to do in front of family walking by! My Mom was ready to walk out, because of how nasty the staff was. They served her coffee with sugar and cream and said they had no stirrers or spoons! She ordered fish; they gave her a cold hamburger! I had to call to get them to give her the food she ordered; they were going to let her starve! They are not attentive to the patients; it's like they hate their job and the patients. All these things a nd more happened on the very first day! Don't send your loved one here!

I moved my Mother from another facility to Aristocare At Whiting. Unfortunately, she was already on Hospice Care, but moving her was the best decision I made. Her last weeks were spent surrounded by tender and compassionate caregivers who made her feel special. I can not thank the staff and VNA enough for their kindness toward my mother and toward me during my visits. I only wish I had moved her there sooner.

Staff is nasty and does not return phone calls. They do not care about your loved ones here. Do not send them there.

Greetings….. I just wanted to make a few comments about my Mom`s stay at Aristacare in Whiting. Although there`s no place like home I need to say that overall, The Aristacare staff, including the social workers, doctors, nurses, aides, and rehab instructors were all great to my Mom and myself. All were courteous, informative, polite, caring, and never in a rush. Phone calls were answered promptly. When she left, they even made sure that anyone who was in on their shift that day could say good-bye to her. So you can see it was a very positive experience for my Mom. From my Mom and I, we say thank you.

My best friend was sent there after a hospital stay to rehab from surgery. Right from day one and every day after the food was served cold every meal, every day, ( Health Department Violation ). No warming tray carts are anywhere to be found in the building and at times the food would sit outside the room 20-30 minutes or more before being served, and on some rare occasions the food was reheated in the microwave, most times not, which also worsened the quality and temperature. Food choices not desired were constantly ignored and were none the less served day after day. Complaints and concerns to the Chef, Kitchen Staff, and Servers were unheeded or ignored and the phone number of the Dietary Head was withheld to prevent further discussion on the matter. My friend was also not provided a calendar of activities, events and resident council meetings and could get no information from the staff, calls to the administrator went unanswered or ignored. He was also billed for services that are fully covered under Medicare for the first 20 days of a rehab stay. Inspection reports are not readily available to warn of the deficiencies at this facility. DO NOT COME HERE.

I was a resident of Aristacare Whiting for several weeks and was very satisfied with the care. Of course one always encounters a few bad apples but the few were outweighed by the many who gave smiles and daily encouragement. Therapies were consistently good. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone needing care.

I could not be happier with the care my father received. The staff was extremely attentive and within 24 hours the Executive Director introduced himself to us and even gave us his cellphone number in case there were any issues that needed to be addressed. In addition to the great care, they even offered take in food every week, which gave my dad something to look forward to. Therapy was beyond amazing! The entire staff helped my Dad get back on his feet! I couldn't recommend AristaCare at Whiting more!

My wife spent 35 days here for stroke rehab. PT and OT therapists were great. Speech therapist was pretty useless. Therapy wise a very good. Staffing at the facility was poor. Always waiting when we rang the call bell. Staffers complaining all the time. They tried but failed to accommodate my wife's dietary needs. I did not feel good about this part of her stay.

My father was here for over 2 years. He was a diabetic, and was given 2 desserts each at lunch and dinner-ice cream, cake, sherbet and cookies. They were not sugar free. I would beg them to not give him desserts, but they wouldn't stop. When they moved him upstairs, his blood sugar doubled to 400,..He loved to eat, so would eat whatever they gave him, and was able to eat and drink on his own. He was getting physical therapy at my request about 2 times a week, and was a great checker player, too. But when he was upstairs, he was left in his bed 21 hours a day! He was a voracious eater, and greatly enjoyed visits from family, eating and going outside. Suddenly he was recommended to be denied all water, food and medication. Hospice stepped in to make this happen, and as he lay there with lips parched and bloody with thirst, he was administered morphine so he was unable to beg for water! He died of thirst after 6 long days and nights of unimaginable, slow torment. I would not recommend this place, for man or beast. Thank God we have laws protecting animals, wish we had laws protecting the elderly.

After reading the reviews online specifically this site I was a little hesitant when my mom decided to go there. My mom went there because of their cardiac program and her doctor went there but before she left the hospital, not the best experience, I toured with the current lighting I was very happy with what I saw. The rules are tastefully decorated and they had clean carpet in the hallway's. I expected to bring a 4 x 4 after I read about the potholes but I did not see one during my whole moms stay there. Clearly they just read on the parking lot because they have a gorgeous pond with beautiful flowers that my mom truly enjoyed, even a few docs to add to the scenery. The CNA's and nurses jumped her every need and therapy was through the roof awesome. I could not ask for more I rate this place five out of five

This place is awful. carpet in the halls, who knows what germs are growing there. My mom had to sit in feces for over an hour because they are short staffed all the time. She can go to the bathroom, problem is when she calls for assistance they take way too long to attend to her simple needs. Do not put your loved one there

Terrible place, the road leading into the home is filled with huge potholes and they won't fix them. The downstairs is kept better then upstairs. Downstairs ( short term) has more nurses and aids. Upstairs ( long term) is horrible. Patients are sitting alone in wheelchairs in the hallways unattended for hours. They are always saying they are short staffed. The call buttons in the entire place was broken for almost 2 months. I have seen patients sitting in dirty wet diapers, the aids don't care all they care about is going out to smoke cigarettes. The food is horrible, the only positive is the therapists. They are kind and caring. On a scale of one to ten this place is a ONE.

We chose Aristacare in Whiting for my parents because we liked it. We like the people there. We like the environment in general. Their rooms are gorgeous. They're newly redone and they're very nice. So far I don't see anything that needs to be improved on.

The Food is not prepared well and my Mom is allergic to seafood and received fish twice, if I wasn't there to catch it I may not have her here now. She also was dehydrated and not sent to the hospital, there are many things wrong with this care center In my opinion the worst is that they just don't care...a simple thing to point out. the hall ways are carpeted and LOOK nice ( so the families thing it is a nice place) HOWEVER they are not user friendly and a lot of patients I see there cant wheel themselves out of their room because of this. Also think of the elderly that can walk and what gets into those carpets when they have accidents in the hallway...They had construction there and did NOT block off the area exposing patients to construction dust and when you are elderly and have breathing problems this is a HUGE problem.
