My father was here for stroke rehab. It was a very positive experience. The nursing staff and therapy were excellent and any minor issues were taken care of right away. We started off with a roommate who liked the room too warm, and as soon as we mentioned it we got a new room that my father was very comfortable in. Everyone was very nice and they got the job done.

I wish Zero stars was an option. It should be criminal to call this place a care facility. The staff is some of the absolute WORST around! Completely inept and constantly lying about patient health. Neglecting patients and leaving them to sit in there own excrement for HOURS on end causing Stage 4 pressure ulcers. Really just despicable staffing. Our mother was NEVER the same after leaving AristaCare to "recover" from a broken femur. She also never walked again and is completely bed ridden at another INCREDIBLE facility. Avoid placing anyone you love in AristaCare in South Plainfield. The street would be a better choice. I wish we never would have stepped foot in that place.

The care at this facility is horrible. They leave patients sitting in their urine and feces for hours. There is such a lack of care for patients there. If you have a concern it’s takes hours to days for it to be addressed. By far one of the worst nursing homes/sub acute facilities I have ever been to.

Arista Care at Cedar Oaks need an overhaul from Administration to medical professionals and staff. There is a lack of empathy for the patients and a lot of the CNA's and nurses have an "Not my job" type of attitude. No one is able to answer questions. Simple questions such as who is caring for wounds. There is not enough competent CNA's and nursing staff to attend to the patients with Dementia. The night staff has been caught sleeping at the desk. There is no survellence cameras for the hallways. Staff are not watching residents to prevent incidents. I witnessed a CNA allow two residents to argue instead of de-escalating the situation she just laughed at the residents. They are not disposing of soiled diapers and linens properly. Therefore the place smells of urine and feces. They lost my Mom's dentures and then asked us to help them figure out why she is losing weight.

Please reconsider sending your loved ones here...a dear friend was brutally attacked by another patient and has succumbed to her injuries. The staff seems to be incompetent to deal with the degree of disabilities/illnesses of the patients. Who knows if cameras even work to record hallways, not to mention the signs all over that no pictures are allowed. Bruises that staff could never answer. Items constantly stolen from room. Way too many red flags. I hope the state looks into this place for the safety of others. Choosing a facility is already a hard decision for families but to have to die this way.

It’s almost been a month now since that passing of my grandmother. I am more at peace knowing she isn’t suffering anymore however, I am very disappointed that our experience at the facility in South Plainfield and it turned out in the end. When she was transferred from RWJ New Brunswick hospital on Labor Day weekend, there was no staff to greet or explain to us the process as this was our first experience at a nursing home. My grandmother needed a 6 week course of antibiotics for her infection. She was alert and talking that Friday afternoon. Saturday, when we visited she seemed very tired but was still responsive to us as we visited. By Sunday afternoon, she was slumped over and completely unresponsive. To know that the facility thought her appearance/condition was normal is disturbing. We are disappointed knowing that they never contacted us Saturday night letting us know she “refused” her medication as she was in no absolute condition to do so. Instead we were never called at all about this and when we visited Sunday afternoon, after taking one look at her we decided to rush her to the hospital. The unskilled nurse on duty didn’t want us to take her and told us we can zoom in the doctor on call since no doctor was onsite. I am thankful as a family that we didn’t wait as once at the hospital, we learned she had a stroke. A week later she passed away after complications from that deadly situation. Aristacare of Cedar Oaks even had a rep who called us that Monday with no idea that my grandmother was no longer there and in their care. Their extreme negligence and lack of sense of urgency to an emergency situation is still something that troubles me. We hope in the future that you have trained nurses who are attentive and at-least one doctor on site to access emergency situations and at the very least have trained staff present to greet a family who brings their loved one to the facility. I would not recommend this facility. In addition to their unskilled staff, the facility itself needs a refresher as it’s very outdated.

Staff provides absoulte bare minimum of care. Minimal staff works on weekends. Management promises improvement but same problems reoccur. Sad...

I was there for rehab and care. While there were some glitches they were taken care of promptly and resolved. The food was much better than in the hospital. And the staff really nice and caring, I will come back to visit. As well as after my planned knee replacement. I like this place!

I had a knee replacement and they are great. The service and amenities are good. They have movie night, beauty salon, manicures, and much more. The staff has great morale, and it shows in how well they care for everyone. It was a great experience in all and I would recommend Cedar Oaks

I was at cedar oaks for sub acute rehab this is not my first time here and if I ever need a place to go CO is my first choice. The staff is warm and nice always smiling, therapy makes you work so you can get better and home as soon as possible, and I also enjoyed the full activity program. I plan to visit the facility from home so I can meet and keep in touch with the staff and other friends at the facility. On memorial weekend we had a great BBQ. At the day of discharged one staff member said to me “you might be discharging as a patient but now you are part of the AristaCare family you are always invited to come and visit”

Aristacare at Cedar Oaks is an excellent facility. You can feel comfortable and confident having your loved ones recover there. A close relative of ours has been recovering in the sub-acute rehab wing for two months. We chose Cedar Oaks on short notice. We got lucky and we've been very pleased with both the healthcare services and helpful administration at Cedar Oaks. The healthcare staff is patient, competent and caring. Patients' families are often stressed and anxious following a medical emergency and can be oversensitive. Their only focus is their loved one while the Aristacare staff has to attend to dozens of patients. Patients themselves may not want to be at the facility but have to for medical reasons. Despite this, the Aristacare nurses, therapists, and health aides give a great level of care. Our questions were always heard and staff went above and beyond to address them best as they could. The management staff is very professional. They give you regular updates about patient progress through "debriefs". They will also work with you to help address your unique medical and insurance situation. Other things. Visiting loved ones is easy. This is a great facility for people from the Desi/South Asian community who want to feel like they're in a familiar environment (food, TV shows, language, etc.). The rooms are kept at a good temperature, not too cold or hot. People overall are upbeat and friendly, which is important in a setting like this. One area of complaint is coordination between nursing staff, doctors, and patients' families, which could use improvement. Nurses can only make changes or take action based on doctors' orders. But doctors are not always in tune with patient needs and conditions. Family and friends of the patient need to stay engaged and ask nurses to get the doctors more involved if they notice any strange or sudden changes (e.g. side effects to medication).

They have a very loving, caring staff. It is difficult to have to put a loved one in someone else's care if its not to be home then this is the place to be, They made this transition a lot less stressful. Thank you for everything that you do! I enjoyed siting in the day room and meeting others, as well as the fresh Buffet daily

This facility is a great place; the staffs are exceptional always smiling and waiting to assist. I received a lot of help from the director of patient services, Mr. Klein, who spent time to explain the Medicaid process and followed from beginning to end. The Social Workers was able to help me with all needs.

My mother was in Aristacare, it was pretty dated, but they had a lot of activities for the elderly, like Zumba, arts and crafts, nail painting, and a little bit of cooking. If the residents could walk and do things on their own, they were OK, but if they could not do things on their own, they sometimes sit them in wheelchairs all day, which was wrong. The rehabilitation they get on a daily basis is an hour long. We had incidents where she needed help and they took forever to take care of her. They're understaffed, especially on holidays, and there's some mismanagement. They need to renovate the place because they really look dated and the lighting is really dark. My mother hated the food since it's always the same menu and nothing was fresh.

I wouldn't send my worst enemy here! My mother was here for 2 weeks, and for hours she would sit in BM, 2 to sometimes 3 hours. Uncaring staff, lazy, looking on cell phones, sleeping. Food is horrible. Water is given from the sink. Staff is not clean also, my mother got VRE infection and c-diff. Staff doesn't wash hands going in or out of rooms. Orders that were placed by doctors weren't followed through with nurses or aids. My mothers health was declining here, I had her discharged and took her to ER right away and turns out my mother had fluid in her lungs, blood clots in his legs, and bed sores. I would give this facility NO stars.

The care is terrible. The nurses and techs are uncaring. My dad was there for 1 month and left with bed sores because they did not reposition him as necessary The therapy is not much better.. They do not allow anyone to watch and they do that for a reason, they do not do much with the patients except have them sit around. Terrible rehab. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Aristacare was a clean and well-maintained facility. My dad liked the physical therapy program, he did not have problems with that. But the overall delivery of the service was bad. They did not have enough nurses, nursing aides and health aides both during day and night. If you called them, it took around 30 minutes for them to respond. I would suggest they hire more staff and have prompt service.
