Laurelton village in comparison to other facilities is head and shoulders above the rest. The staff from the top of the house down for the most part is exceptional. If for some reason you have to be their don’t be surprised when one or more of the admin staff stop to check on how things are going.cleanliness is an obsession with laurelton someone always seems to be moping or dusting. The food is not five star Michelin but it is very good and you will probably enjoy it since you selected it from the menu. You don’t like the menu selections for the day the kitchen will prepare something more to your likening. Don’t try surf and turf I tried ain’t happening. The nursing staff and aides were really good and attentive. Don’t be afraid to ask a question you will get a professional and courteous response. On the down side the some not all but some of the weekend staff could use the same values and work ethics as their day shift colleagues. The rooms were not suites in Borgata but.they were clean and comfortable. We were there recuperating from COVID so we didn’t participate in any activities.

I understand now why Laurelton is rated only one star by Medicare as opposed to most in the area that are rated five stars. After one day I was trying desperately to get her out of there and it only got worse after day one. Nurse was giving injections without swabbing/cleaning area first or afterwards and she was bleeding all over her clothes each time. Day two she started getting very painful stomach pains with watery stool. They did not manage her pain so she was in constant terrible pain. They did not test the stool for two days despite saying they would. She got a terrible bleeding rash on third day that was not treated until I asked for something, which even then was not administered properly or at all. Finally I was able to get her back to hospital. She came to hospital dehydrated, with untreated UTI (which apparently they had found but didn't treat her) and the infection C-Diff which is very contagious and a terrible intestinal infection. The nurses also would lie to me saying she didn't have watery stool and that she ate when the CNAs would contradict and tell me differently. They apparently also never told the hospital Administrator anything as anything I would tell her she would ask for a lot of details and names of nurses etc. I think they are protecting their jobs. Also, there was little to no outside activity with patients so they lingered in their rooms throughout the day, unless they had a problem with them and then they would sit them by their desk to watch them. One day a patient was yelling for help for several minutes and I finally got up when the yelling didn't stop. When I got in the room the patient said the other patient couldn't breathe and I could hear her wheezing. I asked someone to get the nurse and finally she came up the hallway mumbling that the patient isn't ready for her breathing treatment for an hour. Really!! What good is it if she's dead by then. Same bad nurse as indicated earlier. If you care about your relative - do not admit them there. It is very hard to move once they are admitted. It took a lot of calls to her oncologist and surgeon and I had to pay over 400 for the ambulance.

The nursing facility I went to was Laurelton in Brick because my mom was in rehab there and they happened to have a nursing home attached to it. All I did one day was put her in the wheelchair whilst she was in the rehab and we walked through the doors and she said this isn’t as nice as where I am. But they are a wonderful rehab center. She has been in many, but I would say this is the cleanest and most professional place. I’m very happy with the people. If and when she leaves the hospital -- the next few days I’m hoping -- I already told the social worker I want her to go back to Laurelton and they’re setting that up. For the rehab center I would give them a 5. People were not as active, but they tried to get them out and doing little things, they play cards, and mom loves the therapy. She went twice a day, and they were good. My mother has been in a lot of different places. There are things she can’t do -- she knows she can’t do them -- and is still happy to be there and the help couldn’t have been better; that’s a positive thing. They just came in and loved her up, and she likes that. The experience for her -- and for all of us -- was wonderful. I would definitely recommend the facility.

My mother has been in the Star Unit for the past 5 months and is currently still receiving treatment. I would say that her care is average. Some days it is amazing and other days it is sub-par. It appears that their biggest problem is being understaffed. I really think that if there were more people working things would run much better and be more consistent. There are several truly exceptional staff members that provide phenomenal care. However, there are also some care givers that are awful, unprofessional, and rude. We literally cringe when these staffers are assigned to "care" for my mom. When she gets the other care givers we rejoice! Overall, her care is average- not terrible, but definitely not wonderful.

My mother-in-law is a resident here and in the Alzheimer's wing. She has been there a year. I find this facility well run, clean and the patients are fairly well attended to. Some days I feel they are understaffed. Most days everyone seems dressed and clean. There are daily activities for the patients. My husband tries to vary his hours of visiting and seems happy with the care his mom is receiving.

My mom came here because she couldn't live alone anymore. Her heart wasn't strong enough. But she still has a sense of humor and she still enjoys making friends and staying active. They will keep you busy here! There are plenty of activities. There's always something fun and interesting happening here! One time when I visited in July of 2011 they were having summer barbecues, famous visiting musicians, and tons of parties. Everyone here is very generous and caring for one another. It's almost as if they are all a team. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They sacrifice a lot to make this facility run smoothly. My favorite time here ever was exactly last year on 4th of July. I was visiting my mom since she doesn't get to see me often being in and out of Army deployments. But they had a huge firework show and it was incredible and I'll never forget the smile she had on her face because she loves fireworks.
