My Father came to Avenir after he broke his hip. He developed cognitive issues. The facility is beautiful the design is like a hotel the art work and furniture are lovely he used to say meet me at the club, it was the dining area, lol. The staff is exceptional, there were a couple care workers that I witnessed being “cranky”, but everyone that worked with my dad was amazing. They have Bingo daily and tons of music. He enjoyed that very much!!! He was there just under a year. It was exceptionally well run.

We found Avenir Memory Care for my mother, and she has moved in. They were great. My mother is a type 1 diabetic and needed insulin, so they worked with us to be able to get insulin there because that is an issue with memory care units. They can't give insulin. But they were perfectly up front. They worked with us to find somebody to could come in and give it on a daily basis. They were great with her. All these people have the patience of a saint. They kept telling her where she was, they assisted her, and they helped her with eating. I can't speak highly enough of them. When we went in, they sat down with us and asked, "What are her likes and dislikes? Is there anything she can't eat; anything she won't eat?" And then they adapted the menu to her needs. They have a morning get-together. They play bingo. They get them together for music. In the evening they try to get as many of them as they can into the TV room for a little while before they start getting them ready for bed. So they engage them in whatever it is they will do; if they just want to walk around, somebody will walk with them. But for the most part, they try to get them all out into the daily activity where they can interact with each other. It's ten minutes from home. She was only there for three weeks before she passed away, and they were wonderful.

My husband is in Avenir Memory Care. He was in a bad way when he got there and he couldn't talk, he didn't open his eyes for two weeks, and the staff there is wonderful. The head of nursing is a wonderful person. They helped him and he's come a long way. The facility is very good and very clean. I can look at a menu any day that I go there and I can eat there if I want to. The food is OK. They have a lot of rice, but it's OK. My husband is not very fussy, so he eats everything that they give him. They have a lot of people that come in and sing, and my husband loves to sing, so all the people that live in his pod are always asking him to sing at dinner or lunch or whatever, so he likes that. It's all-inclusive which is nice. I like that. They have one price and everybody pays that price. It's not different if you need more drugs or fewer drugs.

Avenir (Summerlin) was a very nice facility. They were listening to music, the rooms were very small, and they had no refrigerators in them. The staff was average. They had an enclosed outdoor area where you could sit, the dining area looked nice, and they had several dining areas. The whole facility was divided into four pods, each with a kitchen, tables, and chairs. It was nice and very intimate. It was very boring.

I like Avenir Memory Care at Summerlin (Summerlin Memory Care). It's clean and brand new. The staff is very attentive and seems to be very caring. It just seems like there's flexibility in how one wants their loved one managed. I like that a lot and I hope that doesn't change. It's convenient and close. Expense-wise, it's very reasonably-priced. It's not a point system but instead it's a flat fee and no surprises. My dad has already moved in and we're very satisfied. I feel lucky that I found them. There are plenty of rooms to choose from, but they're filling up fast. They're very responsive and I liked them a lot.

My mother is in Avenir at Summerlin. It is a brand new, clean place. They have what they call neighborhoods where they group each resident according to their level of needs. Not all memory care is the same, so as residents progress, they move to a different neighborhood with more people in the same condition as opposed to grouping them together. The rooms are nice. They're about average size for memory care. They're nice, new, and clean. They offer normal activities too. They have a kitchen area where they involve the residents in basic food crafts. They also have music activities and crafts. From what I have seen, the food looks pretty good, but there seems to be a lot of pasta dishes. The staff members are very good and very attentive. If you ask them to do something, they're right there doing it for you. Overall, the place is absolutely stellar. It is a new place, so everything is very clean and well laid-out. The price is a good rate too. We got locked into a founder's rate, so it will never change for the entire stay regardless of the level of care.
