I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister has moved into Poet's Walk Henderson. I like the friendliness of the staff there. I had several facilities that I liked, but this one has a bedroom large enough to accommodate my sister's furniture. She also did not want to go into a facility where she had to share a room, so that's why we chose Poet's Walk. I thought the grounds were clean. They had done a lot of things to engage the residents. They have a lot of the same activities everywhere where people are allowed to work on puzzles, where they have interactive memory games, and where they're encouraged to socialize with each other. I also like that this facility is dedicated only to memory care. I haven't tried the food, but my sister says it's not good, but she's a little picky. I saw her yesterday, and she said they have a new cook, and the food was better. One hesitation about going there was the food. But I think a lot of people who have dementia lose their sense of taste, but she has not.

Provider Response

Dear Susan, Thank you so much for the time you took to leave us a review. We do appreciate you sharing your experience with us and hope it helps others looking for memory care in Henderson, NV.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom went into Poets Walk before the pandemic. We were promised a lot and the residence did not get what they paid for. The room was ok but there were no activities to speak of and they stopped taking residence out in the community. They started out having a lot of activities but tht changed to very few activities. My mom was left in her room to sit and and watch TV. The staff were nice but not educated and did not know how to care for her. I not only had problems with the facility I had a hard time getting my refund from the company. We were told it takes 45 days to get our refund. It took 51 work days to get my mom's refund (over two months). After 45 days, I called daily and left messages but but nobody called me back. I finally talked to accounts payable after calling her two times the week before leaving messages and no return phone call. I got the money back because I was persistant and the last time I called and reached her she sent the money the next day. Poet's Walk is not worth the money. Your parent is not important and the money is the only thing that is important to them. Management and corporate both do not deal with the problems instead they pretend there is nothing wrong.

Provider Response

Dear Holly, Thank you for your feedback. We are saddened and disappointed with your experience and will share your feedback with our Quality Assurance Team.

My mother-in-law passed away at Poet's Walk in January 2022. She went unresponsive one day but the family was not notified until the next day, so my wife and her siblings who live out of state were not able to travel to be with her at her bedside to say their last good-byes in person. To add insult to injury, the credit due for the balance of January after she passed away has still not been refunded two and a half months later. There is no dispute about the amount to be refunded. We have left message after message but it is almost impossible to get anyone to call you back from Poet's Walk in Henderson or at the corporate office in New Jersey. When you do get ahold of someone they just pass the buck on to someone else. Very frustrating and very unprofessional. High turnover of personnel and lack of responsiveness sure makes it appear that the company is in trouble. I would not put anyone in their care now.

Provider Response

Dear Aric, We are so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and feel terrible about your recent experience. Please email us so we learn more.

My brother is currently in Poet's Walk Henderson. There's a new director, and the increase was very unexpected, especially since it's like almost 10 percent, which is incredibly high. I love this place, it's been four years since they opened. The whole facility is just memory care. Our experience has been wonderful. They are really remarkable during the COVID pandemic shutdown, not one resident and not one employee had COVID. They were so careful, and I would get daily emails on what was going on. They restricted visitations unless someone was sick or something like that, but you could Zoom in so you could do face-to-face on the computer and see your loved one every single day. We got notifications on how everything was going and what they were doing. Anything I had to drop off, they had a whole set up outside the building so that we could drop it off and then someone would come out and say, "OK, who's this for?" And I would tell them that it's for my brother, and they'd immediately sanitize everything and bring it inside the building. The food was wonderful. It's kind of a large building, they have several dining rooms. The staff is wonderful, they have an incredible staff that's been there for years. The only reason I would move him is because of my financial situation. He's had Social Security, and he only brings in so much money. So it's challenging in this kind of a situation when they have to be in memory care, because it's very expensive. Otherwise, I wouldn't even consider moving him, because he's very happy with them. The doctors come in and they make sure they engage him. Before the pandemic, they had outings and stuff. My brother's not really big on that, but they would always try. So they've been wonderful. He's in a single room with a very large bathroom. It's all very secure for handicap residents, so he just walks into the shower, and then he has a large closet, and then his bed is in there, and he has the TV in there, and a dresser. It's a very spacious room, very pleasant, and he can lock the door. They all have keys of course, the staff does. They have motion sensors in case, God forbid, there's a fall or something, they have all of that in the bathroom, and in the room itself. So they're pretty on top of things. They also have shared rooms, and those rooms are larger, obviously, because two people are in them. And typically there's like a half wall separating the two patients, so there's a bit of privacy. It's not completely opened, and then they would share a bathroom and share the room. Most of the residents are older than my brother, and it's unusual to have someone that young with Alzheimer's. Their facilit is very clean and they have a lovely common area. To get into the facility, you have to be buzzed into the lobby, and then buzzed into the actual facility, so they're very secure. They have several courtyards that are secure courtyards, so folks can go outside when the weather is accommodating. It's just lovely with trees and things. They have a common area where if a patient or resident wants some snacks, they can go there, whether it's something to drink or they want some fruit or a little snack, they've got that covered. They really are very well organized. I went on their website and their website tells me that a private room now begins at $6,300, and that is really high for the area.

My husband's been at Poet's Walk Henderson. It was a rather long drive for me, it takes over two hours, but I did research on a bunch of other places and this one is topnotch. The staff is excellent, the care is excellent. They have been doing all kinds of programs and they have an RN who is there every day. I wanted nothing but the best for my husband, the best care, so that's why I chose this facility. It was far for me to drive, but he gets excellent care there, so I was very impressed. I'm impressed with the facility, I'm impressed with the care and the staff. He has Alzheimer's and he's in memory care. His room is very clean, his shower is right in his room, it's in a sliding door, and it's an open shower. It's clean and he's got a closet, a TV that I took with me to him, he's got a window, but of course he can't open it, it only opens just so far and that's it. Everything's nice. He likes the food, he never complains, he can go anytime and get a snack. Three meals a day, good and nutritious meals, and snacks in between if you want it. If he gets hungry and wants a snack he can go up and they'll give him ice cream or whatever's in there. I can't say enough about the place, it's really the best there is around. The staff, he calls them the "green people" because they all wear green, they are very good, very kind, and very patient with him. From what I've seen it's really good.

From day one we have always been put at ease that our loved one is being taken care of properly. Our loved one is happy and content in these surroundings. Before Covid they took the residents on outings which our loved one has thoroughly enjoyed whether it was to go eat or go to an event or touring. Our loved one's room is plenty spacious, airy, well lit and comfortable. We furnished it with a double bed, 2 night stands, a dresser, a love seat, a chair, and a table with 2 chairs. It is kept clean along with the bedding and clothes. It has a private bathroom as well. We highly recommend Poet's Walk. Any concerns are met with a caring attitude and dealt with immediately. There is also salon services which our loved one enjoys.

My wife is in Poet's Walk Henderson and it's been a good experience. The staff is very caring and very professional. The apartments are large, airy, and safe. The dining area is spotless. The administrators are very competent. It's a first-class facility. You get what you pay for. It's a little pricier than the others, but it's more well run. They have activities, the food is quite good, and they take them out on tours. They're kept busy. It's strictly for memory care.

Provider Response

Poet's Walk Henderson is beautiful, but it's very expensive. They're very nice to deal with, and the manager even went to California with me to get my friend. They're very cooperative. If you have any issues, you can tell them how you want things done and they do it. The activities are wonderful. She was hospitalized and they even visited her at the hospital. They're hands-on. They're excellent, but the price is a little high.

I chose Poet’s Walk Henderson, A Spring Hills because of the location. And the staff bent over backwards to get me in there. They even sent a doctor over to my house, because my doctor wouldn't sign the papers to do the physical and history. Three people showed up, there was the nurse, the doctor and the lady that gets you in the community. They also locked the price for 2 years, so the pricing is also really good compared to other places. It's not cheap, but they're willing to negotiate a little bit. My mother is in a single room which is a large room, for the price of the double room at another community we went to. It had a nice bathroom, and it's very up-to-date. They also have sensors they put on the bed of the patients so they can tell when they get out at night, and none of the other places do that. They have a lot of activities, they have music, games, and they read to them, they have exercises in the mornings and afternoons, and special programs. My mom has been there for several weeks, and they're doing a really good job and their staff is pretty good.

My mother is moving to Poet's Walk Henderson. It was so wonderful how the manager was kind to the old people. He took four pages of notes asking questions about my mother, like he truly cared. It was a warm, loving place that's convenient and nothing fancy. The room is small but very clean, with room for a bed, chair, TV, average-size closet, a nice bathroom, and a private tub. The price is comparable to everybody else, and it's a flat fee. I think I made the right choice.

Beautiful facillty, caring staff, that ONLY serves the cognitively impaired. No Assited Living with Dementia patients behind closed doors. The ENTIRE faculty is for them to walk, remain active, socialize or do what they please. Everyone has a private apartment that is personalized. It is a warm, caring place and as an RN with many years of “nursing home” experience i am comfortable leaving my Mom there. Forget what you think you know about Long-Term Care and check out Poet’s Walk in Henderson.

A Poets Walk is a dream come true in memory care facilities. We just moved our mom there from a lovely assisted living facility. We all realized mom was needing more care but after 7 years at the other place it was not something we were looking forward to but the staff are amazing and after 48 hours of nervous hovering my siblings and I kissed mom good night and left her knowing that she really is in good hands! The facility is immaculately clean, invitingly arranged with many different, inviting areas to sit and interact along "Main Street" as well as a cleverly designed circuit with a secure inner court yard that allows for safe walks. Residents rooms are spacious and well laid out. And, the staff there are so good it is hard to believe that they are real! They are patient, kind, loving and remarkably talented at knowing how to manage whatever comes along. The manager, Mark, has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help get mom (and our family) settled and comfortable with the move, I feel that I should single out and name the other staff but each one of them has been remarkable- so instead, let me just say- hugs to each and every one of you- and from the bottom of our hearts- thank you- A Poets Walk and each of you are truly a God-send. If you are looking for a place for your loved one - I recommend it without hesitation!

My sister has only been at Poet's Walk Henderson for a week now. I like the place because it's for memory care only and they are not behind another door separate from other people with different levels of care. One thing I really like is she has her own room which is kept very clean. I am very impressed with the people there, they are very caring. They have painting classes, get-togethers, and musical entertainment. I had a very fantastic experience with the first person I got in touch with. She arranged everything, gave us exactly what we needed, and helped me find some furniture. She was really great. The place is very clean and very welcoming. The residents inside can walk around freely. They have an ice cream store and a store where they can pick up things.

Our family couldn't be more pleased with Poets Walk. Our mother has been in two different memory care facilities in Henderson and having her at Poets Walk now, we know she will get the loving care she needs. The staff is absolutely amazing and cares about the well being of their residents. The court yards, residents rooms, ice cream parlor, dining rooms, along with all the activities they offer are exceptional. You cannot go wrong placing your loved one here, truly a blessing to know that your family member will be taken care of.

Poet's Walk was very nice and brand new. The people and rooms were very nice. They had a great memory care program and don't keep the memory care patients locked down. They had a restaurant and an ice cream parlor. Whatever the residents want, they get.

This brand-new memory care facility is cheery, open and beautifully furnished. The administration and staff are empathetic, caring, giving and considerate of both resident and family. My brother-in-law was placed in Poets Walk by my sister the 5th of December - the first day it was officially in operation. It was necessary to move him from another memory care facility because they were understaffed and unable to offer him either freedom of movement or a program that could keep him engaged in activities he enjoys. Poets Walk offers everything you could wish for to your loved one. Do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful home where everyone treats you and your loved one like family before you decide on any other placement. We live 39 miles away and the peace of mind we feel is well worth the drive. Truthfully we look forward to each and every visit. When one of the staff members told him how pleased they were to welcome him there, our Al responded, "I've always lived here."

Poets Walk is a new memory care facility opening officially Monday Dec 5th. My husband was in a memory care that couldn't meet his needs. I'm moving him into Poets Walk. It's a beautiful place, the staff is caring, compassionate, and constant activities and they gear them to each residents interests. The facility has colored coded hallways, so residents can recognize their rooms. The hallways go around the circumference of entire building so residents can roam. There is a large community room with sitting areas activity tables, ice cream parlor, bistro, store, aviary. 2 inside courtyards, and a dining room, large courtyard patio, with fountain, benches and garden on each side of the facility. 24 hr nurse on duty, sensors on the beds, and motions sensors in the rooms, toilets to flag any changes in the residents routine or health. I wish Poets Walk had been open the first time I had to place my husband, My heart is at ease now, I 've found my Al's forever home. Check into this, I'm paying $600 less a month than where my husband was.
