I visited this facility

I went to look at Sunrise of Henderson. The appearance was very pleasing to the eye. The location was very convenient for local shops, and just for travel, it's close to highway access. The facility is not brand new anymore, but they're keeping it up nicely. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Everything was very clean. There was a pleasant smell in the air. The atmosphere seemed active, busy, and friendly.

I visited this facility

Sunrise of Henderson was nice. The memory care facility seemed very light and bright. It was very welcoming. The staff seemed very concerned about the care of the residents who were living there. They were very friendly and professional. The residents seemed to be enjoying a sit-down, workout session with weights, which I found interesting because usually a lot of people would not attend those, but it was a filled class, so I thought that was very good. They have all the meals included. They take them on trips and then they have different programs scheduled for different games as well as outings. They have an outdoor courtyard and they also have a city park right adjacent to their courtyard area, which they're able to use.

Sunrise of Henderson was very nice. I liked it very much, but they did not have a private room available. I loved the grounds; I thought the grounds were gorgeous. They had the same kind of activities. Everyone that I toured with was very nice, very helpful, and answered any questions. They were quite lovely. The dining area was nice, but I didn't sample the food. They have beautiful outdoor facilities. My sister is an avid gardener, so I thought she would enjoy that. They are backed up to a park that they could visit. It was very bright and cheerful inside the facility, so I thought that was nice.

I visited this facility

I toured Sunrise of Henderson. It is a beautiful place. It looks like a high-end casino on The Strip. It looks like they have very active community members. It's a really good place. The rooms were spacious. The layout was nice. I think it's a great place for high-mobility people. For low-mobility people, it may be somewhat isolating the way the rooms are set up like hotel rooms. I didn't try their food, but they had a nice open kitchen for everyone. It looks like they spent a lot of time preparing the meals and had a nice table layout. They showed me their activities. They had bingo. The staff seemed very friendly.

I visited this facility

I toured Sunrise of Henderson. I didn't feel the same kind of caring for the residents. The residents were just kind of sitting around, and I didn't see any activities. The dining area was small. Parking was ridiculous; there was no parking. The staff who gave the tour said she had grown up through the ranks, and was promoted to community relations director. She was very nice. The facility was one long hallway into the rooms, but then the rooms were small. They seemed to have kept it very nice.

My mother is living in Sunrise of Henderson. The community is very nice, and her experience there has been very enriched. She's having a good time. The staff is very good and very helpful. Her room is nice, clean, and has a good view of the part behind the house. They do exercises, they have group activities, they do bingo, they're currently having a luau, and they have good social activities. The staff works well, and she likes the food. The socialization has been real good. She's in memory care.

Provider Response

Hi Harold, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Henderson and the dedicated care givers and team members. Our residents are part of the Sunrise family and we take enormous pride in having the privilege to take care of them.

I visited this facility

Sunrise of Henderson is amazing. It's way out of my price range, unfortunately, but it's a beautiful facility. Their memory care is quite a large building and it's set in a very lovely setting. Their memory care is on the third floor, it's very secure. They have shared rooms and private rooms, though they didn't have a private room available right now, these things change constantly. The facility itself is just gorgeous, it's just beautifully done and incredibly clean and it's a very nice facility. It's a bit expensive but just nice. The food, their activities calendar are crazy, they've got so much stuff going on. I think part of that is because they also do assisted living, so they keep these folks busy if they want to be busy, which is great. In the memory care unit, they do a lot of stuff specific to that group of people, just to keep their hands busy. They do paintings and they bring in petting zoos and stuff. It's quite well done and very impressive. Their menu is very diverse, and they accommodate any needs that you may have. They do the whole food and snacks thing, and their common areas are very nice, their dining area was very nice, and easy access to the way the building is set up. The rooms are kind of all-around and all of the common areas are in the center, which is kind of neat. And the elevators are behind closed doors, so no one's near an elevator, that's very secure. It was impressive. The staff knows what they're doing.

Sunrise of Henderson was OK. Of all of the assisted living areas we looked at, it's the smaller one. It met all the needs of an assisted living though, just that my parents weren't ready for that type of care. The staff was very polite and informative too. There weren't very many amenities, but they have a community room where they play games, puzzles, and a little courtyard outside if you want to go out. The location was not bad. The dining area was neat and clean and the menu had different varieties on it, but one of my parents only likes to eat meat and there were not very many meat options. They had a lot of chicken and fish, but not much beef.

I visited this facility

Sunrise of Henderson was very nice inside. They kind of have an old-time scene. It had an old Mexican scene like something you would see in the movies like arched doorways and everything. It was very dimly lit. The rugs had stains on them. We felt there was an odor to the place. We only met the tour guide. She couldn't answer all the questions because she was the activities director. The facilities were not impressive at all. There's no pool. They have movies in their activity center, but some of them have separate what they're calling movie theaters.

Sunrise of Henderson is very good. They have wanderers going into my mom's room, but not as many as the other place's memory care. The staff is very good. They're excellent. It's very good value for the money. They have board games and sing-alongs. My mom had a physical therapist come in twice a week. The food is not that great. They would always give my mom sugary drinks, things like Tang or lemonade premix; we just wanted her to have water. Even though she was on a cardiac diet, they said all the diets are the same. They didn't really limit anything, except for the salt.

My impression of Sunrise of Henderson was beautiful, very warm, very inviting, and very clean. It was just a homey feeling. The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful. You could tell she liked what she was doing, and she was very informative. She was engaging my parents in the conversation and asking them questions and wanting what their feedback was. She was very good. We looked at both the one- and the two-bedroom. They were fine. It's still kind of a shock where you live and then when you walk into a place where you have to downsize. It was very nice. We liked that it was more of the central heating air type of facility. It was very nice and very welcoming. The staff gave us examples of how some people had their places set up and what they did. They had a little dog there that was at the front door when we got there and he just kind of set the tone for the whole thing. It made you smile all the way through. It was nice that they were getting ready to go out on a little tour and some of the people were in the van. We saw the dining room, the bistro area, and the hair place. It was nice. I loved the backyard where the raised beds were, and it was just very nice.

I visited this facility

I went to Sunrise of Henderson in January last year. The assisted living had a restaurant where you can go, sit down and order your food. They had a game room and a kitchen so the residents could cook. You can also schedule it to have your family come in, if you wanted to have a meal with your family, there's an area that you could do that. You could also bring the family to the restaurant. They also had a little garden in the back. We really liked that the parking lot backs up to a park, there's access to the park through a gate just behind the facility, so that's why we're looking at that one, it would really be good for my mother to be that close that she could just walk around the park. They do laundry services for you, or the residents could shoulder it themselves. The memory care is upstairs, and I went up there and just looked around a little bit, so I don't know much about that one. It's nice, it's an older facility, and I think they've been there for maybe 15 years, but it's well cared for, it's kept up.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Mom was a resident in Memory care for 2.5 years. It is in a nice neighborhood, convenient location, it was close to a park that we would walk my mom over to weekly. First year was good, then it slowly started getting bad until we were forced to move her. We noticed mom's hair was messy, she was stinky like she hadnt been showered, teeth and breath were bad - seemed like teeth werent being brushed, constant issues with unkempt clothing, missing socks, general hygiene not maintained. When she started she was able to go to the bathroom on her own, just needed prompts to the bathroom. She had a few accidents and instead of regularly taking her to the bathroom they threw diapers on her and forced her incontinence. We had multiple meetings and discussions and still had issues. We would show up and staff would be sitting watching TV or just hanging in the kitchen. Very rarely would see activities going on. There were some really great staff, Maria, for instance. But most staff were unmotivated to put the love and care in that is necessary for these seniors with memory care issues. They also weren't aware where mom was half the time. We would call or show up and it took 15+ minutes to find her. She would be wandering in someone else's room, or one time she was in the community bathroom with another resident and had gotten completely soaked. Then we would get calls about bruises/cuts on moms arm. Found out other residents were bullying mom. They blamed mom. Wanted to drug her up; when we refused, they told us they needed to charge us much more to provide for her safety. We ended up moving mom to a smaller facility.

Sunrise of Henderson was beautiful, and it's one of the best ones. Although in terms of pricing they couldn't give you a set price, so you really don't know what the price is going to be every month. The rooms were nice. They also had double rooms but the double rooms did not have a dividing wall which I didn't like, it was more like a hospital double room. They said you could put something in-between them, but there was nothing. The amenities was excellent, they have everything you could need. They had all the games and they had a full schedule of things the residents could do every if they want to do it. They don't just sit around, they keep them busy and out of the rooms. The atmosphere of the place is great and the staff members were good.

Sunrise of Henderson was my first choice, but the price was just $1,500 more than what she was going to be paying. This would be the Ritz-Carlton of senior living. It is really a fancy place, but the price per month and none of us have enough money to donate for mom’s thing. She had a budget of like $3,500, and this place was going to be closer to $3,900 a month; that is just too much money. But it is a beautiful place. The staff was all very attentive, they answered all my questions, and they spent time with me. We toured rooms, we saw the restaurant, and people were eating and enjoying. If you got the money, I would go there.

My mom is in a studio apartment at Sunrise of Henderson. Their rooms are small, but it has a homey atmosphere. The place is very well kept up and more appealing to me than the other place she was in, although it is a little tired-looking and the carpets are worn out. The place is reasonably priced, and they take good care of her. The staff gets you involved in their activities.

The staff of Sunrise of Henderson seem very committed to their job and very caring. They let me set up his room and everything because he was in the hospital, and they didn't charge until he came into the facility, which was really nice. The people were just really nice. What's really good is there are all levels, from unassisted to assisted to a memory unit; that's the reason we picked them. The food was very good. They have snacks available for them 24 hours a day, like sandwiches and that kind of stuff, and their dining hall is very nice. Their way of handling and taking them around was very good.

We choose Sunrise. The facility seems clean. It is pleasant, and they have a good ratio of caregivers per patients. So far, the staff did very nicely. I have no complaints. We cannot afford a single, so my son is in a shared room, but he does not have a roommate yet. The other room is empty. It is a small bedroom with a little common area for like a little table that sits three or something. My son is happy with the food. They have chair aerobics, balloon volleyball, and Wii bowling. They have bingo every day. They do have trips, but I do not know if they have done any of it because of the weather being so hot. They go to the store and stuff like that.

I am now living in Sunrise of Henderson. I think the staff people are very friendly and very nice. They want to help you out in any way they can, and they have. It has just been a good experience. The dining area is very nice. It is always good food, and I actually gained a few pounds. The rooms are too small here. It is most convenient for anybody coming to visit me. They'd take me -- we would go on the bus, and if I am in my wheelchair, we go all over the grounds, so there is not a problem.

We went to the Sunrise of Henderson and the employees were a little bit standoffish. The facility itself was very nice, and the room that would have been approachable, money-wise, for us was a 10-10; it was very small, very tight. From what we saw, the dining room was nice, but it did not have the flexibility of hours for lunches and dinners; they only had one sitting, and that was it for all three -- one for lunch, one for breakfast, and so on.  The off-hours for Sunrise weren't as elaborate as to what you could have if you missed the meal. From my impression, the facility looked very clean, and it was also a newer building.

I visited Sunrise of Henderson, but it's all booked up. The coordinator was very caring, and it was a good tour. It was a very beautiful facility. The dining room was exquisite. I did appreciate the higher level of care, but their memory care unit was a little unusual for me. There was a secured unit where you could only get access through an elevator. It was on the second floor where everybody had memory care problems. It was a little bit too close quarters, which I felt was a little detrimental. They didn't have a whole lot of getting around. There wasn't much room for them to walk, and there was nowhere to go outside.

The people at Sunrise were very nice and friendly, both the people that worked there and the people that lived there. They had a nice looking building. The room had a minor kitchen with a microwave, a refrigerator, and sink. The only thing I didn't like about the place was the apartments that they had available were not suitable because I had two birds and one of the room faced a wall, and one was facing the parking lot where you would never see people, and my birds liked to look out the window. However, the food was good. The place was very clean, and everyone was very friendly.

"How come you didn't bring her," you know and I say "Oh my goodness." The rooms were very nice and very clean. It seemed like the people that needed to be attended to were attended to. I had nothing bad to say about them, and I really hated it when I sat down with the director and they said that she didn't qualify.

I like Sunrise, as the people who live there seemed very active. The facility was nice, and they had a resident dog and a resident cat, which I thought was nice. The culture of the building was very positive; there is nobody sitting in the corner staring vacantly out the window. Everybody seemed to be happy and engaged. The architecture is nice, and the colors and the carpeting looked well cared for. The dining facilities looked more like a restaurant than a cafeteria. The staff is very attentive, and they called everybody by name; when passing by the people they would made a point to have eye contact and say hi. In the memory care, there was resident who was pretty out of it and it seems like she probably runs a script all day long. They were all very patient with her. There are several hospitals nearby, and Henderson is a very nice town.

Sunrise of Henderson was nice, neat and clean, but their rooms were not as big and they didn't have anything available for a single person. The environment was homey but it wasn't a large facility. However, everything that they had there was nicely done. The people were very knowledgeable and friendly. They even have a dog there and he was so cute. He sat out there by the reception desk like he was going to greet everyone that came in. They have transportation service, which is very nice. I think it fits the needs nicely of the residents. Their menu was appropriate but it wasn't as flexible. We didn't like that. There wasn't anything wrong with it; it was just that the other facility had a better selection.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I was extremely pleased with Sunrise of Henderson. They have a friendly and welcoming staff who are very well trained. They develop a friendly and caring relationship with their residents and provide a wonderful environment for them. Many community events are planned and run by the staff. This provides the residents with a wonderful opportunity to socialize and get out and about. The mood of my grandparents has noticeably improved since they moved in. They participate in daily community events both at the home itself and around the greater Las Vegas area. The facility itself is beautiful and modern. The accommodations are spacious and clean with a wonderful view of the desert and the mountains outside Henderson, with a beautiful view of Las Vegas at night. I would recommend Sunrise over any of the previous assisted living facilities I have visited in the past. Sunrise seems to take pride in their work and the well being of their residents.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My experience has been great thus far. I normally visit this facility about 3-4 times a week. Every time I visit the staff are very friendly and professional. The facility is well kept and is very clean. The person I know that resides here is still able to care for herself with minimal supervision. The times when I go visit the security is excellent and the staff makes sure to identify each and every person that comes in. The meals provided are excellent as well. The person I know really enjoys the activities provided along with all the amenities such as a movie theater, gym, music hall and library. The outside area is really clean and safe to go for a walk with the elder. There is also a beautiful park with a fountain and beautiful roses to sit and relax. Pets are not allowed but that is not a concern for most. They do allow children visitors of course supervised. During holidays they also provide a theme dinner or lunch where all residents can mingle and relax and have fun playing bingo or what not. Overall I would recommend this facility to anyone that needs someone to look over their love ones. The resident i speak of has been resided there for over 3 years now.
