I have been in Immanuelle Fontenelle twice after surgery for my knee and hip. It was excellent then, but when I was in there not after surgery, I was treated like I was a five-year-old. Although the care was good, I didn’t care for people opening my door and walking in at night and saying, “I came in here to check your pants to see if they are wet.” It was very good food, and the best part of my stay was that I had a physical therapist that brought her therapy dog. The dog and I played catch out in the hall and that was our therapy that morning. She and the dog helped me a whole lot.

Alegent Health Immanuel Fontenelle Home was a hospital room in what felt like a hospital, so it felt very sterile and non-human. You can’t have your own furniture because the room is so incredibly small. You can’t even sit in your room because there’s no room for a chair. They require you to have the hospital beds that go up and down, so you can’t even have your own bed. I don’t think mom would be comfortable there at all. The employees seemed nice. They have something on the order of 26 nurses or care people during the daytime and 24 during the night time. Mom has some likes and dislikes, and she likes things done a certain way. We would have to tell 50 people all mom’s likes and dislikes in order to have them all understand and that would be a pain.

My husband was at Immanuel Fontenelle for a while. They were very good, and it was very clean. The food was mediocre. They did have a center circle that was completely enclosed where I could take him outside, and that was nice. The therapists were very kind, and they got my husband going quite well; they helped to strengthen him.
