Both my mother, then later, my younger sister were admitted to the Independence House on Coddington in 2011, my mother with dementia and my sister with brain trauma injury and M.S. As a regular visitor to see them, I became well acquainted with the staff there. I sincerely appreciate all they did for both of them. They get to go on outings as well as visitations with a responsible adult about any time. My uncle, my mom's younger brother who visited there often also, is now in need of the same care. His wife, my aunt, and his daughter made this as a top choice for him to move to. Unfortunately, they were full upon the first inquiry but, within a couple of weeks, a vacancy came up and they jumped at it. The rates are at the bottom of the scale but, the service is top notch. My only concern from the past is that there was quite a turnover in caregivers at that time.

My mom is in the Independence House in Lincoln. It’s a good, clean place to stay. She is very comfortable there. There are 17 beds and very personalized attendants. They have an RN on-staff there all the time who is able to talk to a licensed practitioner. We found the best place for my mom. She has a nice apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, TV, rocker, and recliner in it. The staff is very accommodating and excellent. They have two activity directors there on-staff until 7 at night and two other people who take care of them in the evening. So, their activities are very good and include outings once a week. It is very well set up, and I am very impressed with it.

My husband is in Independence House. It is really a very nice and very friendly place. My husband is getting excellent care. The atmosphere is very friendly and almost home-like. The rooms are nice. I think the staff members are very dedicated. They are so friendly and caring. I think the food is OK. It is what it is. I have seen it and smelled it, and it smelled good. My husband says it is pretty good. I haven’t seen anything that they truly lack on yet, so I can’t say that they need to improve. Everything I have encountered so far has been good.
