My husband and I moved into Elk Ridge Village Retirement Community in March. The minute we moved in, the residents and the staff have been exceptionally helpful. Various residents are extremely friendly. We liked it because of the size of the apartment. It's nice and comfortable and fits what we need. We have our lunch here in the afternoons, and usually enough to bring down what we have as snacks for supper. They were able to get us on the first floor, where we had a beautiful view of the lake. And we have a dog, so it's so handy to let her out the back. We're enjoying it. We've made a lot of friends here, and that's always important, to have friends and our families close by to this. So, it's just a perfect fit for us. They have exercise classes and they have games. In the mornings, there are some things you can do, exercise and such. But in the afternoon you don't have to be in your apartment very much if you don't want to. There's a lot of games always going on. They have a happy hour on Thursdays, and the first of the month is a cake for the month, whatever month it is, that's a cake for the birthdays. Then we have an ice cream social once a month. And so it's just a lot of things going on. We've not done a lot because we are just getting moved in and settled and we have had some sicknesses come up and kind of slow us down. But we're looking forward to being able to get out and join the games and things.

We absolutely loved Elk Ridge Village. They have been very welcoming to us and it’s in the area that we wanted my parents to be in. It just worked for the whole family so we are very pleased. They will be in the independent living and they will have a beautiful 2-bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. My mother has dementia, so we will eventually have to move her into the memory care unit which they have right there in the facility. It worked out great although they have not moved in yet but they are getting ready to move in hopefully within the next three or four weeks. The food was great. They have certain things you can choose each day, but if there’s something you don’t like they will make whatever you want. If you’re unable to make it down to the dining room, they will bring the meals to your room. They will do grocery shopping for you if you need it or they will provide transportation for you to go get groceries. They have 24-hour medical care, and they will be wearing medical alert around their necks. They have exercise rooms, church services, and everything you could possibly need.

Most helpers are helpful and willing to change if desired. Appreciate frequent request to pick up trash. Wish name tags were longer and easier to read.

The greeting group as well as the kitchen and dining room staff, the med-tech, the nurses, the maintenance crew and all other employees are polite, helpful and nice to have around. Quality is excellent.

I can only say good things about this group of cheerful and well qualified group of people. If you have questions they will find answers. I have yet to see any impatience with us older people from your staff. The young men and women wait staff are wonderful and the cook tries hard to please. I have been here six and a half months and have no regrets!

I have had four family members cared for at Elk Ridge assisted and independent living. Although this can be a difficult time for the family, the loving care that was and is still being given to them has been a huge blessing. The employees are family to us and the facility truly is home.

The apartments at Elk Ridge were very nice, bright, very cheery, and fine. They had an activity room. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but we thought it was very expensive and that the distance from the room to the dining room was too far.

As an independent living facility, I have found it to be above and beyond excellent. The management and staff are attentive, considerate, friendly and caring. The amenities are great for all. The new residents are welcomed and encouraged to take part in activities. Housekeeping, dining and maintenance are great. My husband passed last year after living here for 3 years. I would not consider any other residence.

My mom is at Elk Ridge Village. It seems to be working out really good for her needs. She is in assisted living, and it is working out better than I thought it would. She seems to like the food. She has a one-bedroom apartment. It seems like everyday they have something going on for activities. The staff is very nice. The grounds are maintained very nicely. My mom likes to go out and sit outside on a bench.

We are impressed with Elk Ridge. The room would be nice if it was a bit bigger, but it is OK. The food is not bad. It can be a little bit better. My mother-in-law and my father-in-law get tired of the food, but we eat there occasionally, and the food is fine. So, I guess you just kind of get tired of the same old, same old. They keep them active.
Provider Response
Thank you so much for your review. I am so happy that you are impressed with our community. We understand that food is a very big part of our resident's lives and we strive to always offer delicious entrees. If there are specific meal choices that your in-laws enjoy I would encourage them to share those with our Executive Chef. We are so glad to to hear that your in-laws are staying active at Elk Ridge. It is our goal to ensure that each of our residents loves the way they live.

Elk Ridge has provided my grandmother with a very positive and fulfilling living experience. I feel safe knowing that my grandmother is in the hands of the staff there. Each resident has an emergency call device that they wear as a necklace, but they are allowed to use it when ever they need assistance. My grandmother uses hers often when she needs to get out of a chair, and the nurses are always prompt to come help her. Elk Ridge also provides many activities for the residents, the activities that I am familiar with, are bingo, car rides, restaurant trips, church trips, and work outs. They also have a library and movie theater to keep them entertained. Their rooms are more like apartments than rooms, each has a bedroom, bath, and kitchenette. They are considerably spacious for an assisted living facility. I also am pleased with the meals that they feed my grandma. MY grandma has a hard time keeping on weight, and the meals they feed are not only good, but also nutritious, and vary a lot so she doesn't get bored. Overall I am most impressed with the staff, all who show genuine interest in the well being of the residents, even the teenagers who work there! They all know every resident by name, and go out of their way to converse with them. Overall, I couldn't recommend a better care facility in Omaha.

This facility is located in a west suburb of Nebraska. It is easy to get to, near Dodge Street, which is a main street. There is ample parking"”and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. It's a larger facility with independent living, assisted living"”and a dedicated and secure memory unit. The building is quite new and nice-looking, with many little inviting spots in the common areas that people use rather than opting to stay in their rooms. Respite care is available both in the assisted living unit (for $130 a day) and in memory care ($175 per day) based on availability. For some potential residents, this may be a good way to assess whether the place is a good fit for them. The director of nursing who was hired in the last year has already made specific improvements in the way information is shared and organized here. The memory care is exceptional. The memory care unit, which has 12 rooms for residents, includes a communal room with a piano and couches and tables. Most of the residents stay in the common areas, which are open and welcoming"”and appointed with an aquarium. The staff here is especially good at providing engaging activities"”some particularized to memory care residents, some a part of the assisted living unit. Residents are encouraged to be up and out, but individual needs and wishes are also respected. There has been very little staff turnover over the year. The food is very nice"”brought over from the main kitchen. There is an emphasis on fresh meat and seasonal produce and in meeting the wishes of individual residents. One of my clients, who has behavioral problems that often make him belligerent, is always treated with patience and respect. The caregiving staff is compassionate and skilled, and can accommodate nursing needs through death. The assisted living apartments are very large and nice"”including a kitchen, bedroom, large living room area and some with decks. People move in and feel like they have a home. The activities offered there are good and fitting"”and also quite varied and creative, including outings into the community. In fact, most residents seem to be social and active"”and to consider themselves part of a community. In part, this is due to the encouragement from the activities director, who really brings life to the place. The care in assisted living is also good. The staff is able to gear up and provide different levels of care as residents' needs change. There is also a fairly seamless transition between independent and assisted living here if needed. Staff members also work well and easily with outside care providers, and are open with family members in providing feedback. Elk Ridge is private pay"”although residents who have lived here two years before going on Medicaid can stay.
