My parents will be moving into The Fountains of West County. The rooms that my parents picked were very nice. They had full-sized kitchens. They offered one- and two-bedroom units. It was a very beautiful facility. It's very well-kept. Everybody I met was happy and seemed great.

I went to The Fountains of West County. It's a very nice place. It's clean. It looks more like a hotel and you don't have to submit a large entrance fee, they charge by the month. You just pay your rent. They had quite a bit of activities and it just was up to date. The place was upbeat, and the rooms were nice. They had some new additions there. That probably would work out the best for my cousin. They had a swimming pool and an exercise room. One thing that she showed on the calendar was ladies on the go, which was pretty good for my cousin. A group of ladies just get together and the bus takes them wherever they want. They went to the museum, to restaurants, to the opera, so it's like quite an active group of ladies. She liked that part.

We like The Fountains of West County. They had independent, assisted and memory care. It was bright and cheery. The food was good, and they had a lot of amenities. It was very clean and very updated. It was slightly out of our price range, but it was a really nice facility. They had a swimming pool, a window of time they could have their meals, a pretty big menu to choose from, and they had more than one restaurant they could go to. They had nice patios and outdoor space, a spa, fitness area, and theater. The staff was really good.

The overall facility is very nice and offers a great apartment for Seniors looking for a retirement center. My mom moved in January 2019 and lived independent until her death in October. We were initially impressed with the facility, the activities, the offerings. The Fountains put a lot into marketing and making prospective residents feel very welcome. Unfortunately, after the move in period is over the residents become a number and are just a source of income to the management/owners. They profess to foster a caring community for our parents to live in, but the reality is the management lacks the compassion needed to continue to make residents & family feel like they are really important. When my mom passed away, we met with management and were told that they would set up a memorial for her so that other residents would know of her passing and would transport those that wanted to go to her funeral. We were also told a rep from The fountains would be at her funeral. Not only did none of these things happen but we never even received a sympathy card from the Fountains. While we were cleaning out moms apartment, Several of my moms friends stopped by and were visibly shaken by how the management treated them. They were so upset that they couldn’t come to her service.(The Fountains told them it was too far away) The reality is, if we had not been told by the Fountains that transportation would have been provided, we would have made sure her friends had a way to get to the service. Even a week after her death, there were some staff members that weren’t aware she had passed and we had to be the ones to inform them. Sadly, members of the management staff are severely lacking in compassion. The so called caring community they profess to have is only to get residents in the door and start paying for this facility. Sadly they left us with the impression that our loved ones are nothing more than an income source. Sadly this is the lasting impression I have of The Fountains and one that I feel strongly others are aware of.

The Fountains of West County was a lovely place, but the apartments were not very big, and they weren't upgraded. The food was good. The lady during the tour was lovely. They made you feel comfortable and welcomed, and they allow pets. The people were very nice. It looked pretty clean to me.

We visited a place called The Fountains (The Fountains of West County). The location is great. Everything about it is OK, but the 850-square foot room does not meet some of the criteria. For instance, we use a king-sized bed, and they can’t fit a king-sized bed in their master bedroom. The Fountains had a very good feel to it. The staff seemed to be very helpful. The food was very good. The service in the dining room, the people there were very nice and very friendly. In The Fountains, you didn’t get the feel that the residents were so infirmed that they were having problems. It was more leaning towards an assisted care. They have recently done some remodeling. I had not been there prior to the remodeling, but it has an interior like it is built on a square, so the rooms go around in a square. The interior rooms are all on the courtyard, and they have small balconies on that courtyard. The exterior rooms face other things. It was all great except the units are not large enough. The other issue for me would be the fact that there was no continuum of care. The positive is that there is no money upfront, so that’s very, very appealing.

The Fountains was very nice, but they were on a busy street. The elevator opened to the floor for memory care to where mom was going to go, there was a room for conversation. There were three large sofas with residents sitting there who were all almost incoherent and not interacting with one another. I was greeted by the feeling an institution by the way the residents were behaving. They were the most expensive, yet the residents were kind of zoned out and the rooms were older.

The Fountains was a beautiful facility and the people were very nice. But I’ve decided for the private care I want my mother to have, you’re not going to find it unless you pay massive amounts of money. Everything was nice, but a big deal for us was we didn't want a place where caregivers had to serve in the dining room. Caregivers were there to care, not to be waiters and waitresses and everything else that they made them do, which happens there. The dining area looked very nice.

I like the location, the basic structure and the size of The Fountains of West County. My dad's current state of health gives him the opportunity to be with some people who still have mobility like him. They have movie nights, bingos, casino nights and other events. They even bring in outside groups so they can play some games. The food is good although in small portions. But I guess people in that age don't eat much. However, it would be nice if they could probably go out to different other places.
