I visited this facility

I toured Friendship Village Chesterfield. I love the property. It's absolutely beautiful. It's right next to Faust Park, and the Butterfly House is right there, and that's a wonderful attraction. The people that work there are amazing. Absolutely amazing. They're the kindest group. I've worked with a lot of people in real estate when I was in real estate, and I've also worked in other areas, and these people just exceed anybody I've met in a business relationship, so I'm really impressed. They're so kind, and they act like your family. And the facilities are so beautiful. I'm getting one of the smallest rooms. It's not a studio. It's a step up from there. What I like about them, when anybody moves out, they go in and gut that unit down to the studs, and everything is new, and then you have new appliances as well. The staff member who toured me was wonderful.

I visited this facility

We looked at Friendship Village Chesterfield, it was wonderful, but just too expensive for us right now. The staff that we met were very nice, they're very good. They had lots to offer the residents. They had a swimming pool, they had a theater, an events room, an exercise room, a fitness center, and an arts center. We only saw a 1-bedroom at the time because they didn't have a 2-bedroom available, and there was a two-year wait for a 2-bedroom. So I thought that was kind of ridiculous. The 2-bedroom was a little tight, it's a bit on the small side. Their landscaping was very nice.

Thanks very much for the review.

I visited this facility

It's been about two years since I visited Friendship Village Chesterfield, and the layout was very good. It's very attractive housing. I was there for my rehab about three or four years ago after my back surgery. The people that worked in the rehab did an excellent job. They were very caring, and they were all very, very nice and helpful. The food was terrific. I was looking for independent living and a total life care experience.

I like Friendship Village Chesterfield. It's a little bit more expensive and a little bit out of my range, but I like it. All the accommodations were lovely. People were starting to go out and visit. Relatives were starting to come in to visit also. It was a really nice place. The staff was great. It was the sales manager. She knew a couple of the residents, and she has been there for a while. She was the sales director, and she brought in her dog to work because they like dogs there. They had some beautiful places and a library. They had 2-bedrooms, 1-bedrooms, studios, and 1-bedroom and a nook. They were all pretty much standard.

I visited this facility

My parents are going to be moving into Friendship Village Chesterfield. I like the Lifecare Plan, where the monthly rate does not increase as they go up in different levels. They were very friendly, they answered all my questions very well, and I felt that the residents seemed happy, too. It just seemed like a very pleasant place. They have redone the skilled nursing and the assisted living, they have a new independent living, and there are lots of facilities, too. Also, they're offering discounts for the entrance fees and waiving different fees, so we felt it was more affordable for what you're getting. It's close to family, which is one of the reasons why we chose it. They have a good reputation in the community, too. I think it's in a good location, as it is near different stores and shops, and it's a familiar area for my dad and mom, so I think that's helpful. It's under construction a bit, and they're still building the chapel, but I feel like it will be nice once it's all finished.

I visited this facility

We've visited Friendship Village Chesterfield a couple of times. There's a lot of construction going, so there were temporary signs posted. But we had a good meal there. When we went again there to sign the contract, they said to stay on for dinner. We met people there from our church, and saw signs outside doors of people we know. It's a large place with several buildings that are connected by a hallway from one building to another. So you can go to another place without being cold outside. There are several apartment buildings. The business manager who took us around was very helpful and informative. They have like a meeting room or a lounging area with a pool table. There are places for the residents to get together, and meet for card games, or watch TV together. They have a monthly catalog or calendar that they hand out to everybody so they can see what's going on and when. Also, they furnish transportation to other places for people who want to schedule it. The staff there were very helpful. There are about 4 or 5 buildings and some are newer. We're going to have a 2-bedroom apartment, but we need assistance in cleaning the apartment and some meals. The living room at our apartment has a kitchen at the end of it, there's a stove, a dishwasher and cupboards, and living room. There's also a laundry that we can use with multiple people on the building uses. It's just down the hall from the apartment we looked.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Friendship Village is a nice physical plant, but I've had difficulty from them cooperating and giving me information about my mom. They can improve on giving the family of the person under their care more information in a cooperative way. They always fight me. Every time I want to know something, "Well, why do you need to know that?" They fight you all the time. In fact, they are hiding something, and they are afraid if you know too much, they are going to get in trouble. Everything is a secret down there. It is like, "Well, that is just the way we do it," and I don't like that. I ate there twice, and it was just adequate.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom is in Friendship Village. The room is spacious. It has a separate bedroom, a small kitchen, and a living room. It is much larger and more reasonably priced than anything else I looked at. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. My mom is very comfortable with them. They have a pretty extensive menu. They have a lot of very good activities. She can stay there for the rest of her life because they have a full continuum of care.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I always thought retirement would be a time to enjoy life, and, thanks to the Life-Care Program at Friendship Village Chesterfield, it is. We have felt "at home" here since our first day (7 years ago) and love our comfortable apartment, new friends, and many activities. There is truly "something for everyone" here.

I visited this facility

Friendship Village is a beautiful facility. They have the nicest apartment. It is also roomy. They got a beautiful dining room. The place is very contemporary. It's a lovely facility but it's very spread out. For independent living that's fine, but when you get down and need more care, you feel like you're in a hospital.

The staff at Friendship Village was excellent. The facility was very up-to-date and very comfortable looking. The rooms looked good and you can bring things if you want to personalize it. The grounds were very well taken care of and very attractive.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Friendship village is a nice facility however there are some drawbacks. The facility is adding condominiums around their retention pond/ manmade lake. It has a walking course it has card tables and exercise equipment on each floor. The place is great until critical care then it is only pretty good. Especially in this recession with social security drying up a bit retirement communities even non profit ones such as friendship village are being forced to start looking more at the money side of things. They are looking to expanding and adding many new condo type living units that are barely assisted living at all to make money through selling them as well as to insure clients that will fill spaces in the future when they cannot live on their own anymore. Because of this monetarily based focus the patients that need a lot of care such as my grandmother get ignored more than they should and are not given the care that I believe she should be receiving. Because of this my grandmother has had to pay for a private nurse to come in and make visits as well s to direct the staff to her aid as my grandmother isn't really able to fully articulate what she needs and she is too proud to ask for help. When she was in need of less assistance the facility was great for her. She exercised had a nice community of people she was friends with and the dining hall is actually quite good. I have been there for thanksgiving and eaten thanksgiving there a few times and have been pleasantly surprised. The staff are kind in general and I believe it is still a great place to live. They also have cheap rooms for rent when visiting your family members on premises in the building that come with an email in the dining hall. This is nice because you are right there with your family member. There was a time when my grandmother believed that some things were being stolen by employees from her room but I think it is likely more due to her poor health condition and aging memory. Because friendship village is a non profit it is much more catering towards the quality of life the patients receive rather than just get out as much money as possible. My great uncle Alvin when he was about to pass away was in a nursing home not nearly s nice as friendship village and he ended up being miserable the last year or so of his life which is quite tragic. If you live in this area friendship village is definitely a great option I do believe the waiting list is somewhat long however I am not sure. There is a small lake and it is right next to a giant arboretum. It is pretty close to Saint Louis but still generally away from the hustle and bustle.

I visited this facility

Overall, I was very impressed with the facility. It is a great place for my grandma to stay. At first she was hesitant, to say the least, about moving from her home of 45 years. But, after a while she came around to enjoying the staff and especially the other residents. From my perspective, the staff was very helpful and seemed to be doing what was need for my grandma. One time, my grandma remarked that it was wonderful having so many caring people to help with her daily tasks. Before she moved here, the family was primarily responsible for taking care of her. Now, this kind of service comes with a good sized price tag. But, I believe it is more than worth it. The neatest thing about the facilities is that everything she needs is on campus. She never really needs to leave the facility. She especially enjoys things such as the pool and social events. The facility itself was beautiful. Honestly, it's much better than my home. I'm really glad my grandma is staying here.

I visited this facility

Not only have I visited this facility, but my sister was a former employee at this facility. Friendship Village is nestled in a beautiful, park-like area in Chesterfield MO. Friendship Village has many amenities to offer its residents such as an indoor beauty salon, bowling alley, bank, and a magnificent dining area. Residents enjoy the friendly staff and the one on one attention they receive from their caregivers. The facility is large but very well laid out, thus making it easy to get around. Friendship Village offers excellent transportation service for the residents. Through this transportation system the residents can run errands, go to doctors appointments, and complete many other task that require transportation. Friendship Village is located in Chesterfield MO, an upscale suburb of St. Louis MO. Friendship Village truly lives up to its name. It is not just a community but a village that is made up of friends.

I visited this facility

While in our uncle's home town of Jefferson City , we stopped in on the spur of the moment to see the Friendship while searching for a place for our uncle to live in his golden years. We liked its proximity to St. Mary's Health Center "“ which is where our uncle receives his medical care. The staff was happy to show us around, despite the fact that we didn't have an appointment. The grounds around the main door were nicely kept, with flower beds and nicely manicured grass. The interior was inviting and we could smell fresh flowers. The décor was quite nice and fresh. This facility is considerably smaller than others we've seen "“ so the staff to patient ratio is high, which is nice. Nonetheless, the place is well tended and very nice for seniors who need a bit more care than those who can get around well enough by themselves and just need supervision. They did have things to do "“ like books delivered, games and visitors from around the community. The food we tried was good "“ but nothing outstanding. However, the overall vibe of the facility is more of a nursing home. Since we were looking for a more independent setup (at least, initially) "“ we decided that this wouldn't be a viable option for us.
