Select Senior Living seemed like an older facility, but very kept up and very nice. The rooms were very spacious. The staff was very nice, very knowledgeable, and pleasant.

Select Senior Living had a nice dining area and a nice apartment. The lobby was nice and clean. The lady didn't know we were coming, but she took care of us and showed us around, so that was very nice. She had the other people in front, so we just waited and we were very happy with it. They were very accommodating. The courtyard was really nice. It was in the middle of the building, so it was pretty secure. I was happy with it. The lady did a very good job. The apartment I saw was very accommodating. For one single person I thought it was great, but Mom was looking for her own washer and dryer.

I visited Select Senior Living of Coon Rapids. The staff was very nice, just walking through the door, there was a receptionist there. I could see residents walking around and talking. The person who gave us the tour, her name's Patty, she's very informative and knows everything about the place. She knows her staff very well, including the head nurse. Their apartments were also very nice, they even have a nice balcony with a little gas fireplace and a full kitchen. I saw a 2-bedroom 2-bath, which is awesome for my parents. There's enough space, adequate storage space, closets, and everything. We like that aside from assisted living, they have the option of memory care too. They're in the middle of renovating their hallway floors and stuff, but the one floor that was done looked very nice and clean. The one thing that was maybe an issue for my parents, is the apartment style. There are long hallways to get to the elevator, to go up to the third floor where they're going to be. So they have to take the elevator down and walk quite a ways to the cafeteria. For them, it's going to be an adjustment. That would be the only thing, otherwise, I like the place.

We did a tour of Select Senior Living. It was very thorough, the tour. They were able to show us both a studio and a one-bedroom, and that was helpful. They explained a little bit about the facility and did a good job with that. My father was with me, and he really felt comfortable. He is in a wheelchair, so the one-bedroom has a short little hallway, and that was more difficult for someone in a wheelchair. But the studios are more open with a separate bathroom, and that was a better fit for him. We did not even think to taste any food. It was lunchtime, but the person was helpful, cheerful, and knowledgeable, so that's good. The staff briefly mentioned some things. My father was more interested in the ability to go outside. He smoked cigars once a day, so he wanted to make sure there was a place he could go outside to have that, and that he could come and go as he wished because he's not in memory care. It was nice, it's a smaller facility, which he's OK with that. With the elderly waiver requirement, we don't have a lot of options.

I toured Select Senior Living. They were very welcoming. They were very, very helpful. They took us to several different apartments for assisted living before going to the apartment in memory care, and there are good choices there. Theirs would be a little more than what the other one was for monthly, but then all their meals are included. They have a lot of other things going on. They have day trips that they take these people on and help them do grocery shopping or shopping of any kind. They would take them on a small amount at a time on a bus that they have, and they would take them places like that. So for my uncle, I thought that one would probably be one of the better ones. They were just so willing to help us. They wanted us to stay and have a meal with them, but I had another appointment so I couldn't. They're very good about that. I was very impressed with them. The facility's physical appearance is beautiful.

I went to Select Senior Living. I felt it was too large, and they did not have a room available. It was pretty busy and more like apartment living, so it would involve elevators and stairways. My mother wouldnt like that. There were people sitting outside on benches where people could enjoy the landscaping, as it was nicely landscaped. when I approached the building, no one was smiling, and when I greeted them, no one greeted me back and smiled, and that ticked me off. The staff member was impersonal, didn't offer any information, and did not give me a tour, but gave me a brochure. She was not welcoming.

My father was at Select Senior, and we had considered putting my mother in there had they had an opening. The staff was really good, and I really liked them a lot. The facility was a little bit newer, so it was really clean, well kept, and up-to-date. The rooms were very spacious and very nice. The food was really good. The nursing staff there was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable when it came to questions and concerns that you had; they address them right away. For example, in terms of the health issues that my father had when he was there, they were very willing to work with me and work with him to make sure that he got the best of care. I really liked that place a lot.
