So far, everything at Gracewood has been good. I feel the staff should really identify themselves each time they come in to my husband just because when you are a new resident, it is hard to remember names, and I think that is very important. Name tags are very difficult to read, so even though the names are there, I think it would be more appropriate that when they come into the room they would interact a little with him. Everybody is very kind and very helpful. I don’t think they go on rounds as much as what we were told they would. Doug does need checking on more frequently. When I am there, I rarely see any staff come in. When he is alone, his call light is so short and far away from him. There were some mixed messages when we talked to them like “Yes, you can bring medication in. No, you can’t bring medication in, and then, OK, now you can bring medication in and we will use them until they are gone.” First we were going to see our own doctor then now he is going to see the house doctor. Doug has suffered depression, and I am really concerned with the house doctor not knowing him, He is right now very sad. This is a big transition for him, and I would like for the staff to spend a little more time with him. It is not that they don’t care; they are busy. But it would be nice to pass a few minutes to talk to him. He needs a hug, and he needs somebody to know they care -- just those little things.
