Mom is in the memory care unit. It is fantastic. The staff gives each person individual care and attention that they need. There are constant activities to keep them occupied. She was at a different facility and kept asking me to take her home. It broke my heart. Here at Pomeroy sterling hts she no longer asks to go home. They are so compassionate and management is always available to address any concerns I may have. I highly recommend it! I give food a 4 star only because mom is on a strict diet. The other food looks delicious.

We have chosen Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted Living & Memory Care. They have a studio apartment, and it's really nice. Most of the places that we toured were just one room, and this actually has a bedroom, a front room, and a kitchenette. And that's the only place I found where they had a little kitchenette with a refrigerator. It's like a living unit instead of just one room. Plus, there's a TV, and that's what we like. The staff member who gave the tour was very nice and very accommodating. They have like a combination of memory care and assisted living. We saw people sitting and eating, and it looked pretty nice. They have a room where they have machines and stuff for rehab. The staff member answered all our questions. The studio apartment and the bathrooms were very clean. The whole area was clean.

I had an in-person tour of Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted Living and Memory Care. The lady who gave me the tour was amazing. She gave me so much information about everything. The facility was clean, beautiful, and decorated nicely. Most of the rooms had a little kitchenette and a bathroom. It was like a little apartment, which I liked. They had a workout room, a physical therapy room, a dining room, a library, and a TV room. It was very clean. The staff was very knowledgeable, really cared about the residents, enthusiastic, and very personable. They have a beauty salon, which is open two days a week.

Oakmont Sterling Assisted was nice, clean, and nicely furnished. The people seemed to be enjoying the food and there were lots of activities. They have a calendar of events, a game room, and movies. The grounds were nice. It was in a good location. It's close to grocery shopping, the drugstore, and the bank.

Wonderful, caring staff. Always clean. Good consummation. And recommend without reservations. Very good verity of programs with musicians, bingo, exercise etc. A good nursing staff to provide medications and monitor medical conditions.

My mom has been living here for 18 months. Since arriving she has met many residents. She has even met some old school mates... from the 1940's ! The facility is well kept..and seems to give residents a feeling of belonging.

Oakmont Sterling didn't have a lot of activities for seniors. The apartment was very small and wasn't adequate for two people. I wasn't very impressed, and I don't think I would have wanted to place my parents there.

Oakmont Sterling Assisted is the best place in the area that offers assisted living and memory care. The building is extremely clean and well decorated. They have a wonderful activity team that keep the residents engaged. The nurse manager is caring, patient, and goes the extra mile to ensure needs are met. The care staff overall is good. The care staff could be a little more attentive at times instead of being on their cell phones.

The facility is nice looking with well appointed rooms including: large walk-in shower, vanity, wardrobe, two windows, kitchenette with mini fridge. The day-to-day care: medication passing, housekeeping, maintenance, meals, activities is good enough. Not so good is the doctor care. A resident has to request a visit with the doctor and if they are lucky to meet with the doctor they might get the help they need. There is not a sense of urgency with medical care in general. Overall my parent doesn't feel the doctor is very responsive or takes her complaints seriously. The company is very difficult to work with if their doctor is not used. They will not assist with contacting a PCP nor assist with securing prescriptions or addressing medication issues with a PCP even if the resident has a current need. I have witnessed, several times, family members at the nurses station inquiring about whether a prescription was received from a PCP and being told "I haven't seen it come through." Residents cannot receive OTC meds without doctor order and there is no sense of urgency about this issue if the facility's doctor is not involved. This lack of urgency is reflected in medication passing too. I have witnessed, more than once, a family member appealing to medication passing staff to administer a PRN medication and be met with silence or lack of urgency regarding the matter. Residents need family members to advocate for them to ensure medical follow up and intervention, not what I thought Assisted Living would require. There is a nursing director and she can be snippy, grumpy and defensive. My parent complains about the food's texture not being appetizing and that the same food is served repeatedly. There appears to be frequent turn over in the nursing staff. Nurses who worked there a couple of months ago are no longer there. The facility is not staffed with an RN 24 hours a day. Like any place, there are staff who are wonderful and some of whom are obvious about how it's just a job. Not as warm and friendly as it initially appeared. Not as individualized as I had hoped. My parent's medical care/needs are a worry to me, instead of relief at being in a place providing 24hour care, because she cannot adequately advocate for herself; I cannot be there all the time to make sure her needs are met; and if their doctor is not used the resident doesn't get assistance for non-life threatening matters. Mostly disappointed with medical care. My parent will probably move elsewhere when her level of care needs increase.

I was very impressed by Oakmont Assisted in Sterling Heights. It is much brighter and attractive than any facility I've visited, which makes visiting much easier than other 'drab' facilities. The activities look very impressive; they even offer a cooking group. My mom is a fabulous cook, so she was very excited to see this. I really like the lay-out of the rooms, too. It feels like a true living space - I toured a few others that had a real 'nursing home' feel. I came away really liking everything about Oakmont Sterling

The facility is very nice, clean, some rooms are carpeted, some are hardwood floors, the resident has their pick of which they prefer. They bring the people from upstairs to participate in activities down stairs. I felt very welcomed when I first moved in and the staff was very friendly and made sure i was settling in nicely and needed anything. The managent on the other hand seem to be grumpy and not really care for their job or want to be bothered with us. The nurses are very friendly as are all the CENAS, they all care very deeply for all of us, they watch over us and meet all of our needs. They need to get rid of their management team, none of them are team player's and they all seem to work against the staff on the floor....I think they all were trained by grumpy mean old men. It makes me incredibly sad to see our cenas treated the way they are by the management "team".

For one thing, turnover is very high. And not just the nursing care staff. Since my relative has been there, the administration has changed at least 4 times in less than 2 years. My relative had her medication discontinued, not because of a doctor's order, but because my relative refused it. She's getting up there in years and pretty grouchy. I just can't believe they would take the word of a resident with cognitive issues over the orders of a physician. When we found out about the discontinued medicine, my sibling and I were outraged and demanded that it be reinstated. To the best of our knowledge it has been. But the biggest problem is THEFT. We had a birthday gathering for my relative and she received 3 very nice outfits as presents. The staff member was very willing (maybe too much so) to take the gifts so her room number could be affixed to them. Well, that's the last time any of us saw these articles of clothing. A police report has been filed with the Sterling Heights Police Department. In a nutshell, I wouldn't send a dog I disliked to Oakmont Sterling Assisted. As soon as we can find another place, my relative is OUT OF THERE! Please be smart and don't even consider this place for YOUR loved one.

Oakmont Sterling Assisted is very clean, nice, and has only been open for a few years, so it is a nice place, visually. I don't think the staff is that great because my mother is not happy with them, and I think they have a big turnover. Mom doesn't like the food, either; she said they serve the same thing over and over. They always have daily activities going on. There's nothing outside that they can walk around on, but it is located in a very nice neighborhood. The one reason why I gave them such a low rating is because I have already informed the management that Mom does not want to participate in any parties and events, but they keep on including her, and it is causing her so much stress.

Oakmont is close to us -- right down the street from where we live -- but I didn’t like it. It wasn’t homey and didn’t feel friendly when I walked in. I felt like the residents were inmates, and I felt like crying when I left. I can’t say that I didn’t feel welcome there; it’s just that I felt sorry for the people. They look like they were all on their deathbeds. The facility is new; I watched it being built. There wasn't carpeting in the rooms. Even though they said they bring people downstairs, I don’t think they do. It smells when you go in, which I don’t know if it was from the cooking or if they don’t keep it clean.
