My mother is in North Ottawa Care Center at Heartwood Lodge. She went there for rehab and services. It was my first choice because I had experience with them, and I knew they took really good care of her when she was there. It ended up they accepted her back in as a patient for long-term care. It's a very nice place. Her room is clean and there's lots of room, and they were working with my mom really well and trying to do some rehab stuff. The staff was very friendly and very helpful any time that I was in there. I was just really impressed. They were very caring and they worked well as far as payment plan and things like that when we had to pay on stuff. They have activities lined out. I know she was playing bingo and that kind of thing. She didn't always participate in them, but she seemed to enjoy it. They would have special things like Cinco de Mayo. They did a Mexican thing or they have Detroit Tiger Day where you wear your jerseys. I think they did a good job with that. She was able to sit and work on puzzles. They have an aviary in there, and she would sit and watch the birds for a long time, and that occupied her a lot during the day.

This is an excellent facility that we have visited a friend for the last year and a half. It is always clean an never an offensive odor. They gave exceptional care especially Stephanie. We were so pleased that our friend was at Heartwood.

My uncle moved into North Ottawa Care Center. It had full-service care. They can care for him if he's not able to ambulate on his own. They have very good food. My uncle has a private room with his own bathroom. They have a lot of activities, but my uncle doesn't participate much in them. His room looks out to the center court, where they have flowers and a lot of paths to walk on. There were animals out there like birds and a little pond. It has a hospice in a separate part of the building, so it's available if my uncle should ever need it. The facility is very clean and up to date. It's a beautiful facility.

My mother will move into North Ottawa Care Center. I toured it two years ago and it was very clean, it looked like the residents were very well taken care of, they were clean, they were walking around or in wheelchairs, and the patients looked happy. The staff member was very knowledgeable, very nice, and answered all of our questions. The facility was very clean and it felt homey.
