My husband is at Brookdale Saginaw. He is in memory care right now. It's a very caring place. It's very, very clean. There's always somebody in attendance. They have exercise classes, trivia games, card games, and music. It's very entertaining. The food is excellent. They have a bookcase with books but they do not have a chapel. It's nice that they almost don't allow them to stay in their rooms for meals. They come and get them and make sure they eat in the dining room so they can talk to somebody. In other words, they don't leave them alone.

At Brookdale Saginaw, I liked the way that they treated the people and the way they treated me. The staff was very welcoming and very nice. They offered all the amenities. Their pricing was all-inclusive, and that was an interesting thing. They had a salon, a workout area for rehabilitation, and a pharmacy. They offered on-site care to come in and look at my mother-in-law. They had a courtyard and a dining area. It was located a little farther from the hospital but near restaurants.

I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Saginaw. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the facility. As of right now, this is one of my top choices. They even invited me to speak to some of the residents as well, so that was very nice. I got to meet with the chef, and she was open and honest about everything. They showed me every nook and cranny of the building, so that was wonderful. They have a nice little apartment room, like a studio apartment. It has a nice little kitchenette in it where they provide a microwave, a refrigerator, a little sink, and little cabinets to keep dishes and whatnot. It has a personal bathroom with a shower. The staff was wonderful. The chef made a fresh loaf of banana bread and sent me home with a piece, which was very nice. There were no odors or anything in there. It was absolutely clean and beautiful.

Our mother was a resident for a few months before she went on hospice care. The staff was incredibly caring and responsive to mom’s and other residents’ needs, the food was thoughtfully and delicious, rooms were clean and spacious. Mom had gone to a skilled-nursing facility when she was discharged from the hospital and we we’re appalled by the lack of attention she was receiving there and we were very glad to have had her at Brookdale.

My mother has moved into Brookdale Saginaw. The layout and the appearance are both excellent. Her apartment is very nice. Excellent service and staff. Everything is wonderful including the dining area and the food. She enjoys cards and bingo, and they have outings, a TV room and a family area. It's homey.

Our experience having Dad at Brookdale Saginaw has been really good. Everything seems good and his room is very nice. You can put your loved one in there and feel safe about it. I don't have to worry about anything. The community feels friendly and very clean.

We visited Brookdale Saginaw. The rooms were adequate. The big drawback was that they did not have the around the neck pendant call button. You can only use the pull chain on the wall. There wasn't a whole lot of amenities there. The dining area was nice, but seemed to be OK for the size of the facility. I never interacted with the staff other than the person that gave us the tour. It was very much like a home. It's small, but clean.

My tour with Brookdale was nice, but it was a little more expensive than what we could afford. It has a nice setup, is a lot smaller, and has nice rooms. They had basic furniture, but you could put in more to accessorize.

We chose Brookdale Saginaw for my mom because her brothers and sisters live in that area. They only have 18 to 20 residents, so the care and attention would be better. It’s a very pleasing and homey environment. The staff had a major turnover, and that is one of the reasons I am transferring her to a facility near my area. Also, the personal care has gone downhill because of that. During the summertime, their activities were very good. They have exercise classes in the morning. The food at this facility is alright but not really excellent. The primary reason for moving her out was the turnover in staff and the lack of follow-up with her health care. I do not get updated when they change her medications.

Just wanted to tell everyone what a wonderful experience we had with the way that Brookdale took care of my mother for the past 11 years. The staff was always respectful, caring and kind to her and as a family we never had to worry about the quality of care she was receiving. As her needs increased they worked with us to meet her new requirements. We were impressed that they exchanged staff between the assisted living and the Sterling House so that my mother knew some of the staff when she was moved, it made the transition much easier. My mother passed away this last week & it is comforting to know she was well taken care of. Thank you for everything. Julie Gavit, daughter of Joyce Boling

The staff and everything else at Sterling House of Saginaw was fine. It was just a smaller community, and it wasn't what we were looking for. The people from the staff that we talked to seemed fine.

Sterling House didn't look as clean as the other facility I visited. It was also very quiet. No residents were outside their rooms. We also didn't see any staff. We walked in, looked around and never saw any staff person.

When mom was in Sterling House, I thought the care was pretty good, but she was not doing very well. She got pneumonia a couple of times while she was there. They didn't have quite as many activities, but they had a dance and picnics.

I cant say one bad thing about this facility. It was clean and that staff there, in my opinion was very friendly and kind to the residents there. There was all kinds of activities happening and I do not believe anyone felt "out of place."
