I'm a resident of North Port Village. The apartments are lovely and very roomy, and we have a balcony that goes from the living room all the way down through the bedroom. However, the staff is overworked and they need more of them. We have ten floors here and I'm on the 10th floor. They have one female for housekeeping and if somebody moves out, she has to go in there and clean the apartment, and then still maintain this building. Besides that, we have townhouses. So the place is not well-maintained. We have a very small kitchen and they only serve food for potlucks and on special occasions. They do not serve food daily. They have bingo and card games, but nothing that interests me. The staff works their hearts out. I have a very nice apartment. I'm fine once I get in the door of my apartment, but the lobby itself is a pigsty. The furniture is so dirty. The hallways have dark colors on the wall and they have soiled carpeting. It's awful, but for what I pay, I couldn't live anywhere else.

My mother is in North Port. It is a 15-story building in an old complex. All of the units are old and pretty small at about 600 square feet. There are lots of activities posted around the complex. They seem to have satisfactory services and facilities. They don't have regular meals, but each unit has its own little kitchen. They have social events where they show movies, play games, have a billiards table, and do potlucks for holidays.

I visited this facility on two occasions to help a friend of my grandparents move out. This friend, named Dorthy, expressed that she was moving away because she was not happy with the way the facility was run. I also did not notice any employees working within the facility with the exception of the women working in the front office. I did not see anyone cleaning, assisting the elderly etc. This leads me to wonder if the facility is short staffed.
