I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am a former Army medic - I have seen good caregivers and these guys are SUPER great. I worked at an Army hospital and I know when people do not like caring for people. These people are very nice and they make my mom very comfortable - and me and my Aunt and Uncle and sister as well. It live in a big city where bad stuff happens - I thank God she’s there and not a big city place where people can be quite mean sometimes. They are all Very patient with my mom and sincere. VERY thankful she is there.

Chestnut Fields is really beautiful and it's nice in there. The rooms are really big. My sister stayed there. They have spacious rooms and they have snacks out in the open for the people. I thought it was a great place. They also had activities. The ambiance was very nice. They had a piano, and some of the guests played the piano. They had activities. That would be probably the best place that I saw. They provided nutritious food, and everything was very balanced. It's not like restaurant food; this is all homemade food. As for activities, it looked like for every season they were doing stuff where they would cut out stuff. I would say the place was probably a little patchy. I think it was probably the top-of-the-line. I don't think most people can afford it; I think it's private pay. The security was very good.

Great place for your loved one to be. They are doing everything they can to keep the staff and residents safe during this time. The staff genuinely care for the residents. I would highly recommend Chestnut Fields.

I am a past client of this provider

This is a beautiful facility centrally located which is why we placed my mother there five years ago and tried so hard to work with the staff to keep her there. In the five years she lived there they have had at least 6 administrators. The last one and the current one have been the worst. They tell you everything you want to hear and follow up on nothing. Communication with direct care workers is nonexistent. My mother was often left sitting in urine soaked briefs for hours, isolated in her room alone, given another individuals medication or not given her medication at all. My list goes on but my advice is only consider it if your loved one is completely clear minded so they can tell you if they are unhappy with the care they are receiving.

When my loved one first started with this facility 5 yrs ago it was wonderful, since that time they have totally changed. They have been thru multiple administrators and staff. They make numerous promises, care plans, and never seem to follow thru with any of them. Complaining doesn't seem to help and explanations as to why things are done are never given. They have given my loved one someone else's medications, missed medication doses, given my loved one the wrong meal more than once. A soft diet was required due to choking concerns however the food served was nothing that met those guidelines. My loved one was basically forced into incontinence and left in urine soaked diapers for hours before being changed! Something needs to change here before I would recommend this facility to anyone. We have since moved our loved one to another facility and the difference is astounding! Very pleased we made the move as we didn't realize such loving, caring assisted living still existed out there!

I am a friend or relative of resident

Very poor care given to my mom, so bad that it was reported to state.. In the 5 years it was open this was the third complaint with the state, and violations were found. I didn't know when I moved my mom in that it was a adult foster care home and they have different rules to abide by. So even with violations theres no punishment except posted on the Michigan state web site. I would recommend a true assisted living where your loved one is in a place that is more regulated. She was given other peoples meds, food was always cold. Owner was not concerned that there was a accusation that she was slapped, nor did he attempt to even ask her. do your research when picking a home. He has had 5 administrators in place in the 7 years its been open.

I could not ask for a better place. The facility was brand-new when my grandmother moved in and very nice. She received three wonderful meals a day and the staff were always able to make special meal accommodations if necessary. The staff were very helpful and well trained. They were always able to meet all of her needs and answer any questions that her family may have had. She had access to many activities including trips out to places such as the farmer's market which she very much enjoyed. Also, she was able to get basic beauty needs such as her hair and nails done without even having to leave. The staff are friendly and greet me amicably every time I visit. I have no doubt that my grandmother is very well looked after there which eases my anxiety about her care. I would recommend this facility to anybody looking for assisted living in the area.
