Dorvin is a decent nursing home facility in general but there are some problems. My grandmother is a very nice and gentle woman but she is not the type to speak up when she has a problem. My grandmother has a very weak ankle and uses a wheel chair to get around because she can not support herself. While she was at Dorvin Nursing Facility she needed to go through physical therapy and would routinely go to physical therapy at the facility, while she was involved with physical therapy, on more than one occasion, pieces of her wheel chair and her leg braces were misplaced. She went for almost two full weeks without one of her leg braces even though it was brought to the attention of the nurses in her unit on several occasions. The wheel chair legs were replaced within a week of them being lost. Our family is not sure how it is possible for her to lose these items while she is in therapy but that is what we have been told by the nurses and by the other staff members that we have spoken to. Though we may have a problem with that side of the nursing facility we are happy with the services they offer, my grandmother is well taken care of and typically if there is ever a need that we have we can find someone to attend to it. The facility has several activities programs that they will get my grandmother involved in if she wants to be a part of them but if she just wants to sit in her room and watch TV for the day they will not force her to go either.

I think Dorvan Nursing Center is an excellent choice for placement for someone who is looking for placement for a friend or family member while there; I noticed that their management and staff was very nice and very professional in their job duties and performances'. Their facility did not smell and the common areas were very homey and their residents' rooms were nice and clean with matching décor. The food looked great and the residents there seem to enjoy the food they were eating. The management and staff their treat their residents like family. The common grounds of the facility were in a beautiful suburban neighborhood in Michigan and the surrounding neighborhoods were also well landscaped, maintain and structured. The residents there like it there and I know that anyone 50 and over would like it there too. The residents there receive excellent care there and they also offer their residents a variety of services, activities, and recreations. I know that their residents are comfortable there because they conveyed to me that they like it there. Their residents also socialize with one another congruently. It is such a homey environment and atmosphere there too. I enjoyed t it there too while visiting there at Dorvan Nursing Center. In general, I would rank Dorvan Nursing Center on a five stars rating for their excellence and expertise.

This facility is very well taken care of on the outside and the lobby is a very clean area. You are always greeted by a wonderful secretary. I found this facility does not have many private rooms which I feel is important when trying to rehab. There is a large mix of people in this facility. From young to old which I was surprised by. The staff is very slow to respond to the call buttons when pressed by the patients. Sometimes they are not even answered. I found that when many patients were transfered their medications were not ordered and waiting for them when they arrived. There were not any Medicaid beds available. I was told this facility was wonderful for rehab but I found the rehab facility to be really outdated.
