My mom has moved into American House Farmington Hills. It has been very good. The physical appearance is very good. The staff are very friendly and very caring. They have a restaurant, a living area for meetings, a secondary meeting area, a hair salon, and physical therapy staff if needed, and they're always bringing in different types of entertainment for the residents. They have daily morning exercise classes. They rotate activities. Sometimes it's craft activities and sometimes they'll bring in a band. They have like a Vegas day where they bring in things you would normally think with gambling, but they give out prizes. They're not gambling; it's just an entertainment thing. The dining area is quite nice. I like its close proximity to my house, so I can get there quickly if my mom needs me. The staff seems to be watching the residents, to make sure they're okay. I had them call me when I had my mom out for a doctor's appointment, and they didn't know that she had checked out, so they called me just to make sure everything was OK. They're on top of making sure everybody stays safe. Cleanliness is quite good. It seems to be an older building, so there are things that go wrong just like any building that gets of age. There's probably not a lot they can do other than keep repairing as they go, and that's what they do. I don't get to see the activities firsthand, but from what my mom says she enjoys the bands that come in. She is limited in what she can do just because she has low vision. Compared to the other places we visited I would say the value of the monthly outlay is very good.

I saw American House Farmington Hills. It was very clean, and it seemed pretty well organized. The lady that I talked to was nice, and she took me on a tour, and that was good. The rooms inside were very, very good, but it was a little bit smaller than the other place. The lady didn't ask me for $500 to go on a waitlist, and she was right to the point. "We thought we had a room for you." I guess somebody within their facility wanted to upgrade to the two bedroom, and I'm trying to get a two bedroom. I didn't get to see the whole facility. It looked very, very small to me, but I did not see anything in the back where they had a lot of things going on. From what I could tell, it looked very well kept up.

I visited American House Farmington Hills. I didn't really dislike anything about it, I just felt more comfortable with the other place because I was familiar with the staff and I've been there. During the tour, they were very helpful and gave me a lot of information. They showed me around the building, the building was nice, and I don't have any problem with them at all. The staff was really nice when I was there. The rooms were a little larger and it was very neat and clean, but the other place was a little nicer. They have someone to come in and do hair, they have a podiatrist come in and trim toenails. They also have physical therapy, activities, outings, and someone would come in to play music sometimes, and they'd have a little sing-along.

My friends will be moving into American House Farmington Hills. They have independent living as well as assisted living. They have memory care. The ones that are in independent living can purchase meals. But the people who are in assisted living have their meals come with it. The fact that my friends can live in a two-bedroom, and that's what they wanted. They can live independently, but it's right there on the campus. They can have help if they need it. It is a single dwelling. The staff members were very friendly. They were having bingo going on while we were there.

I was very much impressed with American House Farmington Hills. It was very clean, the staff was very nice. The food smelled very good, and the rooms were very, very clean. I was very impressed by the rooms. The residents seemed to be very, very pleasant and in a really good mood. They were eating. I wouldn't mind sitting down and having a meal, but everybody seemed to be very pleasant.

It was great. They're pricey, but still okay because they had 24-hour care. It's assisted living, so there's a little level of independence they expect for you to have. I really appreciated the place.

It was nice and clean. The people were really nice and helpful. The rooms were nice, clean, decorated nicely, carpeted, had a kitchen counter, and a full bathroom with handicap accessibility.

It is great, and the people there are really good. They know us, and we know them. They do activities all the time -- like every Thursday, somebody comes in with music.

Everything fit in with what we needed. We were very pleased with everybody who helped us. We have no complaints at all. My husband's sister-in-law seems to be pleased, and that's the only thing we can go by.

My visit was very pleasant and very nice. The staff was nice. I was invited to lunch there, and they showed me around the independent living unit. I was able to see a room that somebody lived in, and it was very nice. I liked the area; it’s very pleasing.

My mother is in here now. It is really nice, neat and she is satisfied with it. We, as a family, is satisfied with it. I think it is a good place. The monitoring is good for her. The assistance with deficiency is taking care of. The meals are great. The varieties of activities, the socialization and improving her quality of life are taken care of and it is really good. I think the staff is really well trained. They are passionate and very responsive.

I didn’t like the apartments. They were all on one floor except there was a ramp going up to another level but there were no stairs.

It was all on one level. I went there for a program. They had people sitting on the porch and playing cards in the dining room. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. I had a call back for any question I had, and they would be willing to answer. It looked nice and was laid out pretty well. I've been living in a 1600 square foot house, and one of my problems is going down to a 600 square foot room, but I have to get used to that downsizing effect. However, it was a nice apartment, and it was enough to do some things. The bedroom seemed a little small for a queen sized bed though, which I'm used to. It would be great for a double bed or a twin bed. They had nameplates at the dining tables, which was interesting so you know where to go to sit. There were a couple of tables in the dining room that they were using to play cards. I liked that I could afford the cost, and it's not too far away from where my son lives. Also, I have some friends that live in Farmington Hills.

It was very lovely. However, with my mother-in-law's Parkinson's, we needed a place that would cater a little more to some of the lifestyle changes we are expecting in the future. The apartments were very nice. Everyone was very understanding. They answered all our questions, and they seemed to be very concerned with the residents and their comfort.

I did make arrangements for a relative of mine. It was a really good facility. I already made a deposit and on their waiting list at the moment. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. They have either two rooms or one room with a kitchenette type of place. They do have activities like they have weekly dances, music shows, card plays, walks in the park, and trips to the shopping mall; they really have a lot of recreational activities.

We just visited last year. It was really nice. We were thinking of getting one of the little houses they have. The food we had there was nice, as well as the living conditions. Everybody was very nice too. They have exercise, and they watch the TVs, like a video home. I like the fact that they have little individual houses and everything was just one level.

I have been here for about two months now, and everything is fine. It is a nice environment; it is just excellent. There is a variety of food, and it is very tasty. My room is quite spacious and the lighting is excellent. The staff is very accommodating and very spontaneous in responding to whatever you need. The place is clean, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. It is very pleasing to be here.

It was a nice, small community. The lady that showed us around and the director were both very accommodating and gave us a lot of information. But it was definitely out of our price range.

Mom had stayed and we chose that because of the price and the proximity to my sister. However, I did not like the facility. I thought the food was mediocre. It was not great nor bad. The caregiving part was good. They had activities and they had newsletters that told about the activities. But the building was old and poorly designed. Her whole apartment got flooded and that's why it smelled funny. They had a ramp. Mom had to go up and down and fell on the ramp. That's why she had to go to the hospital and we had to move her out.

It is very nice too except that it's on a busy road. When we went there, there was nobody there to show us around. The couple of the workers told me they can show me around and so they were really nice about it.

The accommodations and the dining area were inviting. I was impressed with the place. There were a few activities at that time. They were having people go out on a bus to eat at a restaurant of their choice and I thought that was awesome. They had a lot of outings and also activities inside the building. The rooms were pretty just like an apartment and the kitchen was nice with nice cabinets. The staff answered all our questions and gave me a big brochure.

It is a nice facility. It is also conveniently located because it is closer to my brother's residence. My mom decided that's where she wants to move. It is a nice-sized place. She can progressively go into assisted living, then nursing, and then hospice when the need arise. Right now, she is in their independent living facility. She cooks her own meal. She likes it there. Her apartment is nice. It is a two-bedroom-one-bathroom apartment. I would recommend it to others.

I saw it in the magazine and I visited it. They seemed to have a lot of activities. The staff looked attentive. The rooms were just the right size but there was no kitchen.

The facilities at this location are actually very nice. There are rocking chairs outside of the main doors where you can see some of the residents during the summer. The lobby is well appointed and warmly lit. It has a very open and calm atmosphere. Once, they had a middle school orchestra come and perform for the residents. My thoughts about the staff are slightly mixed, but positive overall. There have been a couple instances where the staff came off as rude when entering the room, but that was few and far between. The most notable experience I remember is that my Great Grandmother (the resident) accidentally pulled on the emergency cord, and two nursing assistants came sprinting down to her room, reason being that the last time the cord was pulled, she had actually fallen. It's reassuring to know that they're keeping an eye on her, instead of being negligent like some other places. I know that she's in good hands. Overall everything is clean and well appointed.
