All the rooms I have been in have one to two residents. In most cases, the rooms tend to be darker due to patients resting. All the interactions I have had with the staff have been helpful and attentive. Many of the nurses caring for my mother will often use their personal phone to facetime with me at their expense. I have not had a bad interaction with the nursing or the administrative staff. COVID restrictions hamper interactions, but prior to this, when I visited, I would see a host of residents in the common area or in the recreation room. My mother does a lot of art that she sends me. I have given an average rating because I have no other examples to compare costs and services against other nursing homes. I will say that 90% of the time, I receive a call from nursing home staff when there is an incident. The other 10%, I cannot be sure my mom is providing me with accurate information to determine whether there was something I should have been called for.

I have had a relative at this facility. First, I would like to know why the "responses" are all basically the same - "We are sorry, blah, blah blah.." But what is REALLY being done to fix the situations? NOTHING. Visited daily. Food left untouched. Didn't even try to feed my relative. Like they wanted to starve him/her out of their bed. Did the "house doctor" ever EVER even SEE my family member? VERY DOUBTFUL. It was requested, but "the doctor doesn't write his reports until evening." Um...WHAT EVENING would that be? The Speech Therapist is the ONLY PERSON that we liked and that did her job. Called nursing station - I let phone ring OVER 60 TIMES...STILL NO ANSWER. It's like nobody there give a damn! Guess what? We are ALL GOING TO GET OLD, people!! Karma, baby, karma. So sad that almost 99.99999% of any staff there (which isn't many) seems so freaking unhappy at their jobs. I am disgusted and PISSED OFF!

My Aunt depended and trusted Heartland of Allen Park to safely support my Uncle's recovery of broken ribs and surgical removal of his gallbladder, he also suffered from Dementia. He was admitted into their Alzheimer's Unit. He was not supervised and assisted with eating and drinking. He lost weight, failed to thrive, grew weaker and weaker in less than 2 weeks. My Aunt was afraid to leave him alone dependent on those that seemingly did not care. Ultimately my Aunt had to demand he be taken to the hospital with increased confusion and fever. He was diagnosed with Sepsis from a UTI likely due to dehydration and lack of bathing and personal care. He was admitted to the ICU and ultimately died within a couple of weeks. Heartland allowed my Uncle to deteriorate without aggressive intervention and early transfer to a hospital. I would not recommend this facility to support your loved one to recovery.

My mom was a new amputee and other medical issues in this facility for rehabilitation. There were several times my mother had to call me at home to get assistance within the facility even though she buzzed for help. I would have to call the facility and they didn't answer the phone. One morning she called me cause she could not breathe, I tried calling them, no answer for 30-45 minutes. I had to call Allen Park Police for assistance. I was told by the nurse they only had 2 nurses for 87 (pretty sure that's the number she stated, i may be off by a few) patients. They allowed my mom to fall out of the bed re injure her amputation because they do not monitor the patients! which put her in the hospital on 6 weeks of antibiotics that eventually killed her. In addition, when any questions were asked, the common response was "I'm only so an so" and nothing but a bunch of deflection and no clear response. Also, my mom acquired a bedsore in this facility! How could that happen? I had to keep on them to monitor it! It happened because they weren't taking proper care of her. My mom was in severe pain until the day she died from the bedsore. I implore you, please go to another facility and I pray you have to not go to a facility at all!

I am a caregiver for a patient. A week ago Wednesday, I left a message for the social worker... no response yet. I have been there waiting for clothes, necessities to be delivered to the patient, today's wait was 2 hrs. 15 min., always at least an hour. Patient has waited 8, 9 hours for a shower. No amenities introduced to patient. They didn't know you have to ask for a menu, medication, showers and neither did family members. Would never recommend this facility. Staff has no respect or consideration for patients or their families. Never saw anything like it!!!!!

Place was very dirty. Very understaffed. My dad was left in a wet bed and was wet up to his back. Did not receive a shower for over two weeks. And I would not eat the food he was served. We had to bring him one or two meals a day so he would eat. His clothes were lost and when I went down to talk to the housekeeping manager she didn't even care.

Worst place I have ever seen!! Left my mom in pee soaked bedding and blankets, 2 baths in 5 weeks and only because I asked. Left her sitting on the side of the bed, she fell and had to go to ER for 6 stitches. Wouldn't remove them after 1 week, finally got a Dr. to tell them and only took out 3, I had to ask again for the other 3 to be removed. Put to bed by 2pm, in clothes covered in spaghetti from lunch. She needed physical therapy for walking, they work on her arms so she can dress herself at 85 years old!! Make appt for 3:30 for discharge, she is still in bed in her nightgown, I call for her nurse who I finally found at 4:30 so during my hour wait, I get her dressed, pack her belongings, get everything taken to the car and still have to find the nurse. They gave me NO HELP getting her to the car and she fell. I asked for help and they say NO, SHE WAS DISCHARGED AND WE CAN'T HELP YOU!!! I WOULDN'T TAKE MY DOG TO THIS PLACE.

STOP BACK UP DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVE ONE HERE, I wish I would have read first. It is true the food is not good, building is not clean, TV's are on arms that don't move far with a 4 inch screen with snow running through the TV. When I asked the nurse said they had 4 more modern TV. My dad would call me and ask me to call the nurses station and tell them he was hungry or had a headache because they didn't come when he called. Administration wise, the Social Worker does absolutely nothing, I heard from her one time where she made me take off worker to talk to me 20 mins top. No resources, assistance for care afterward give at all. I think the best part of my dad stay was he got a good shave. This place is real terrible. Heartland is a good facility (I heard). This facility in Allen Park, MI has been neglected tremendously. When you walk in a building that is on street level and you have to push 1 not B to go down something is wrong.

I wish I could give this location no stars. I am amazed that this place is still offering "care." Certain members of the PT and OT staff are outstanding. Other than that, this place leaves a lot to be desired. The hospital liaison, told us everything we wanted to hear when we asked specific questions about the ability of the "care" center to meet the needs of the patient. Once there, we found out it takes anywhere from 40-50 minutes for a nurse or aide to respond to a call unless the patient is in the bathroom when it takes them less than two minutes to respond. The beds are old. The televisions are old. The staff tells you they will take care of "it" right away and then goes back to doing exactly what they were doing before... resulting in an ignored request. I asked a nurse to get help for the patient and she told me she would tell the resident's nurse. As I stood there and watched her, she turned away and made no effort to say anything to the patient's nurse even though the nurse she needed to address was standing five feet from her. This place is poorly run. Their motto must be... "Smile and tell the patients 'yes' to their requests and then go back to what you were doing. Wear them down with unresponsiveness and they'll stop asking."
No thanks

I wish I could give negative stars. I am astonished that this place remains open. Poor care, uncaring staff, just a really pathetic excuse for a care facility. This is the kind of place tht makes people hate nursing homes. THERE ARE GREAT ONES OUT THERE! This is not one.

the facillity is short handed with help as far as nurses and aides. need to be more one on one with patient who can't help themselves. i was disappointed when i visited the last time. i spoke with resident and he said they don't spend time with patients who need help to eat.

Heartland was very clean and seemed to be ok. They have a daily activity time for the folks that live there, they do their wash, help clean them, feed them, etc. This is the only one I have ever visited so it seemed ok, not too much to complain about.
