Not very honest and upfront about the care of my relative Did not provide care for his wounds. Because if this poor care my relative ended up in hospital with additional wounds and UTI's. When called i was told all is well and that there was a complaint if pain so pain medication was administered. This relative ended up throwing up and constantly complaining of pain. Staff person fold patient that he was making it up.

The staff is lazy and rude . You report issues to the DON and she does nothing ! I can’t not believe this places is still open ! I will be filing a complaint with DPH and moving my family member to a new home ASAP ! Shame a place like this is still open and the state hasn’t done anything . but even more a shame on the staff for not giving care when need and leaving residents dirty and naked ! 3 days with no water in the bathroom and not one CNA had a clue ? Who was giving care ???? Oh wait they weren’t ! It’s a shame really and truly is ! Every last person in the place should lose there license to work as a health care worker . No one should have to be treated in such ways .

Golden Living Center was nice, and even though it's kind of old, it was decorated in a friendly way with pictures kids drew. The standard shared rooms weren't anything fancy. They had a cafeteria, rehab room, and a community room.

If you visit Grandpa in the evenings, he frequently had food on his clothing from lunch time. His nails and hair were also unkempt. I liked the people he ate dinner with, seeing them every night brought routine to Grandpa. His favorite nurse cared so much that he actually came to the funeral. It seemed like the afternoons were spent, as a group, in front of the television. I find that is better than being cooped up in his room, but not necessarily as interactive as it could have been. I really liked that they decorated for the seasons. Many of the patients didn't have visitors, so it was really nice for them to see seasonal change. There are a lot of windows, and the staff let us put a bird feeder in front of the window for Grandpa's room. They also let us put a small Christmas tree in his room, which Grandpa loved. The location was convenient for where I live, and they specialized in Alzheimer's care, that's the main reason we moved Grandpa there.

The Alzheimer's unit at this facility is designed very thoughtfully to create an environment to help ease the anxiety of the residents. The exits are disguised to relieve the feeling of being trapped and the decor is warm and "homey" rather than stark and depressing like a hospital. The unit includes several different rooms that allow for different activities and comfortable environments to sit and visit with residents. There are also private rooms that were available for special occasions or sensitive situations. I specifically enjoyed the outdoor courtyard that was completely enclosed within the unit so residents to could enjoy the fresh air whenever they choose. The staff members are warm, compassionate, patient, and gentle people. I believe they genuinely cared for my grandmother and did everything they could to make her comfortable and relaxed. My family and I were so grateful for all they did during a very difficult and emotional time.
