Both my parents were in Edgewood and my father's passed on now, but my mother is still there. She's in assisted living now. I like the quality of care, the consistency and the continuity of the caregivers, some of the dining options, and what was of interest to her was a swimming pool. The food was very good. There are a lot of independent living facilities there, apartments and maybe townhomes that some people are having gardens. There is a lot of walking available, some trails, in the neighborhood, in the wooded area, and around. They show some movies, they have a little library, a computer room and there are teaching available company videos. There's a lot to stimulate the mind. They have some speakers that come in. She's only been in assisted living for the last four months. I have visited with her briefly just by phone and then Facetime. They interact well with the residents as I would observe. They're very caring. They maintain them well and they have a dedicated maintenance staff and they are responsive to the residents' request for services and deal with issues pretty promptly. I haven't participated in there but a few when I visited, so it's limited but it was very positive when I did. For an institution, they had a variety in food and the quality of what they served was good and there was consistency.

We liked the facility, staff and residents. They include partial life care insurance to defray costs if needed. All Massachusetts CCRs must file the legal Resident Contract you'd sign with the State of MA. (They also file monthly financial fees.) At Edgewood, you pay for partial life care insurance in your monthly fee to partially lower the cost of services if you move out of independent living. Edgewood's contract states this insurance CAN'T be used for the first 5 YEARS if you enter with a pre-existing condition. Edgewood said they discuss and determine pre-existing conditions after we commit to Edgewood, select an apartment and sign the resident contract. Our disease was not on the normal list so we insisted to know beforehand. They agreed reluctantly and the disease was determined pre-existing. We had already decided to move elsewhere because paying 5 years for unusable insurance was not acceptable to us.

Edgewood was the nicest of the places I visited. The facility was larger and had quite extensive grounds. They had a pretty large number of acres for the whole facility, and it was broken up into several levels of care. They also had a farm for the residents who like to garden to have their own plot. It felt expensive from the moment I drove in. For older people, it would be a good choice. They had a little bus that would take people to the grocery store.

Edgewood is a very professional and efficient operation for seniors. They have varied activities and they have a swimming pool, physical therapy room, and a library. They have a country setting with a professional staff.

Edgewood Retirement Community is considered the Taj Mahal of senior living. It had an indoor swimming pool, painting classes, and a dining area that was like a restaurant. It is incredibly gorgeous, but expensive. This is where I want to live.

Edgewood was much smaller, the amenities were not as nice, and I didn’t think that it would be a good match for us. The area outside was very nice, but the buildings were old. They’re wooden buildings and also spread out, so there’s a lot of walking, and I didn’t like that. The apartment was very nice, but its location is way out of the way, which is the biggest drawback, and the medical facilities were not what I would want. If you needed to be taken to a hospital, it’s the only place they would take you, and it’s not a peculiarly prosperous community, so I did not care for that. It’s away from our family.

The staff at Edgewood Retirement Community was fine and able to tour me around the place. It had a pool, and the dining area was adequate.

Edgewood is “top of the line” and the Gold standard for a quality CCRC setting. It is a little more expensive than I would like to pay at this point in my life. It’s a wonderful place and first rate in every respect. The apartments are high quality, spacious and “up to date.” I had a meal - and believe that the food service program is wonderful and in keeping with all other aspects of the quality at Edgewood. They provide the full spectrum of services from independent - and if needed quality assisted living and skilled nursing programs. It is definitely a CCRC that one should consider in your decision making.

I visited Edgewood this year. They have very nice people. The rooms are very nice. It is not as nice as the other facility but still very nice. They have a lot of activities like swimming, and they take people out to go to shows. The dining area is very nicely setup. I liked the food, but not as well as the other facility. The security is fine. There's nothing special; it is just a nice place.

We are fairly new to the Edgewood and had concerns of coming to a CCRC. We are very very pleased with our decvision. They take care of everything. They focus on the details. Staff and every one connected to the Edgewood is very friendly and sincerely nice. Location and facilities are excellent. Well kept. We are very proud to have visitors come to see us. They are very impressed upon their visit. Food is four star. Care is outstanding. The transition from our house to here was excellent. They made you fell right at home. I can not think of any negatives. The positive stories we hear from others who live here amaze us.
