Some of the staff at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center were fantastic and good at their jobs, right down to the housekeeper. The housekeeper did her job every day with no complaints. Let's face it, who wants to clean that many toilets in a day? And yet she was always very helpful. She got me some ice water one time because everybody was busy. That kind of spirit was present there. The food was OK, but I thought the portions were too small. It was a nice place. It had a nice gym. It was very clean. When I first got there, the transport person brought me to the room, like they do, and I just sat there. Nobody came from the place to say hi or whatever. Then after a little while, two ladies came in and one had a thousand forms for me to sign, all this paperwork and stuff. The other one just took my vitals and then I didn't see anyone hiding their hair. When it was time for supper. They brought me something that I couldn't eat and I think I displeased somebody somewhere along the line with that because the next comes a plate with a piece of fish on it. No vegetables. Nothing. So, I looked at the lady that brought me this and I said, "No vegetables?" And she said, "Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute." and she left. When she comes back, she's got a plate full of potato salad and bean salad. It's a plateful of vegetables that she brought me. It was fine. It was good, but I just thought the whole thing was kind of strange. How come they weren't prepared for this new person to come in? And say, "Hi, I'm the welcoming committee." or something. I didn't even know where the call button was or how to summon anybody. So, that gave me a little bit of a bad taste straight away. I got over it though. The people were very nice. The place is very clean.

It seems like they are short staffed. My mother was basically going nuts in there and she was miserable there. I would of liked her day filled up a little more like it has been in previous places. She always was happy in other places. I walked in one day and her phone was on the floor. Her TV remote volume did not work. Her Social worker never called me or talked to me. I really feel bad for people who go in these places and have no one. So sad.

Facility was really beautiful, my mother was there for rehab. Staff was kind and always took care of her needs whenever she needed anything. We would absolutely have her return if she ever needed rehab again.

My mother was admitted there last week for rehab after a fall and the response has been TERRIBLE! No phones get answered. NO calls get returned. They haven't figured out how to handle COVID visits. We will be moving her out ASAP.

My mother was a resident there for three years on the dementia unit. The only reason I kept her there so long is because I couldn't find a better dementia nursing home in the area. Whenever I would go to visit her the majority of staff would look away and not make eye contact or say hello. To get her toileted so she could go out I was treated like I was asking for the moon. It got so bad I had to call the administrator. He didn't call me back until I went above him to the corporate office. In fact that was the pattern. If i called the administrator I wouldn't be called back until I escalated it further up the chain of command. With that attitude no wonder the majority of the staff are so unfriendly. The only staff that was consistently nice and interacted with us was Dorothy who was a CNA on the old dementia unit.
