Herrick House had a real nice setup. It's a 100-year-old building and the only problem I found out was the apartments they showed me were too small. They had a bigger apartment but they didn't have one to show me when I went there. I liked the people who worked there though, and I liked the place. The grounds were nice and there's a nice courtyard at the back too. It was nice for elderly people. The people that ran it were very nice. It's just that most of the residents I saw were on walkers or wheelchairs. I can still do anything, so that was the downside. I think the average age there was maybe 88. Most don't have mobility at that age. Although I'm 88 myself, I am mobile.

I would say the Herrick House an ok facility. I think the staff is good. The place just doesn't have too many facilities. My mother is there now and we're gonna keep her there. It's fine for what we're doing now.

This facility was one of the better ones in the area. I will say the food was ok. The dining room was very pretty. They also had a pub, which I thought was nice. My main problem with this place was that their medication records were incorrect. My mother was hospitalized for pneumonia, and they sent over wrong dosages for some of her medications. She had a brain tumor, so the correct antiseizure dosage was critical. Also, I felt that the aides did WAY more work than a lot of the nurses, and were not recognized for that.

Herrick house assisted living facility is located in Beverly, MA in the same compound with Beverly Hospital and Ledgewood nursing home. I visit this facility regularly as a homecare nurse to check the progress of an alzheimers patient. I am not employed by Herrick house. I work with a homecare agency that sends homecare nurses to perform nursing care to patients living in assisted living in various facilities in the Boston area. The security of Herrick house is great. I am usually required to sign in and out. There is a grand staircase at the main entrance of the facility and it makes this facility look beautiful. The dining room does appear to be a bit congested especially when residents are having meals. However, the private rooms of my patients are spacious and well maintained. The alzheimers unit is usually locked i usually have to enter a secret access code to be allowed into the floor. 24 hour nursing care is provided and there is usually staff to assist residents with personal care and other ADL's.The meals are healthy and well balanced. Staff usually help residents walk to the dining area for their meals. Meals are also provided in the room for residents who are unable to go to the dining room. Staff also engages residents in recreational activities throughout the day. My patients seems comfortable living in this facility so i would highly reccomend it.

I used to visit Herrick house every weekend to visit my mother who lived in the alzheimers floor. I like the country style design of the assisted living. The security of the building was good was excellent. I had to go through a thorough security check at the front desk. I was required to sign in my name and the time of visit. I had to also buzz the doorbell to be allowed into the alzheimers unit. My mother's room was always clean. She seemed to enjoy staying there.
