My mom has moved into Heritage Woods. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. From the executive director to the nursing staff to the aides, they have all helped my mom and made her feel welcome there. They showed her around, and they've helped her get involved in activities. It has been a good experience so far. It's very nice, it's very clean and it has an open design. They have a wraparound front porch that's screened in with furniture out there. No one is using it this time of year, but it's there. They have a beautiful seating area out front where the lobby is with a working fireplace, and they have a library right there so you can sit and read books. They have an exercise room and exercise classes. They have large windows in all of the rooms so that they let a lot of light in. Maintenance and cleanliness are very good. There are all kinds of different activities for them to choose from. They keep their mind and their body busy.

My mother has moved into Heritage Woods. I've talked to the marketing director, and it was comforting that she was there for 19 years, and in some of the other facilities we spoke with, the people were there for less than a year. So that was important. Right now, I would rate them a 4 only because my mother said the food isn't as good as it was at her last location, which was independent living. But it was dining room-style food. The staff has been very helpful. They did a great job. Their food is not as good as her last location. She has only been there about five days now. The facility is clean, updated, and I see people working there. It is easy to access. There is plenty of parking for visits.

We have chosen The Birches (Heritage Woods) memory care in the Heritage Woods building for Mom. It came highly recommended and we in turn greatly recommend this facility. They have a dining area (large room) for families to gather or just come and have a pizza party with the resident. They invited us to dine with Mom before we signed the paperwork, and the food was delicious. They have two selections of food for each meal. They go to the residents' rooms and ask which selection the resident prefers for their meal. They have numerous activities such as the typical bingo, puzzles, arts and crafts, exercises, scavenger hunts, name that state, move to the music, photography fun, baking cookies, movie night and so many more interactive activities. Mom loves the brightness of the Birches! The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful, and the rooms are beautiful and roomy. Mom loves the enclosed (securely fenced) gardens, she enjoys sitting under the canopy, visiting with other residents or family. The staff brings out lemonade or iced tea and various treats to the residents when outdoors. The flowers and shrubs planted in the gardens have been carefully selected to attract birds and butterflies. Truly beautiful. And added to this beauty is the fact that residents can go out any time they like, even unattended, because the staff can monitor the residents through the large windows from within and be within seconds of help if necessary. Did I mention how much my husband and I love the Birches for Mom? It is the most wonderful and perfect fit for Mom and it is assuring that she is in a very pleasant and safe environment.

My mom is in Heritage Woods now. They are very nice and attentive. She likes the food and the dining setup. Her apartment is big enough for her. She is comfortable there.

We know most of the people that work at Heritage Woods. The facility is very well laid out. There are activities all the time; there is a guy who plays piano once in a while, sing alongs, and trips. Mom took her dog, and she is having a very good time there. The room is an L-shape, 2-rooms, kitchenette, bathroom, and a bedroom with a walk-in shower with a holding bar. Mother has no complaints, and they required you to do home laundry.

The time when we researched about a facility, we talked to a lot of different people and they said it was the best one. I like that the people are very nice. I would absolutely recommend this facility to others. Recent they were taking in a lot of Alzheimer's patients and it was really upsetting for most of the people because these Alzheimer's patients are lost all the time. They can't find their rooms.

Because Heritage Woods is cost effective for us, we decided on this community for my father. They seem effective for the cost that they were charging as opposed to some of the other possibilities. I didn't think any of the other facilities would have anything more to offer to warrant what they were charging. First off, I like best the fact that they gave us pretty much an open platform. They told us, 'Whatever you need, let me know and we'll make it happen,' and they have followed up with it. The staff there has been very, very gracious. I have not seen one person with a bad attitude yet. Right now my dad is in a shared room. There isn't another person in his room at the moment, but they may eventually be. However, not only does he have his own space for his bedroom and what-not, he's also got a little kitchenette. It is a shared kitchen area. He also has very spacious bedroom and bathroom. He can wheel his wheelchair directly into the bathroom and shower. My dad is also very pleased with the food. They also have some very fun activities like football for the guys, etc. Just recently, they had a concert there. My dad called me the other night and said, 'You know what? It doesn't get any better than this.' He is extremely happy with where he is right now.
