The person who took me around River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls was very knowledgeable. My husband has Parkinson's and Lewy Body and she was very knowledgeable about what residents with those kinds of problems need. When she was describing the programs that they offer there, I was really impressed with them. She was really engaged and very knowledgeable. She cared very much about the residents and explained all the different kinds of activities they have and why they were important. She just knew a lot medically and about how to provide a decent life to people with these kinds of illnesses. I really liked the space, the layout, and the terrace they have for people to be able to hangout outside. This facility was much nicer than the other place I went to. I wasn't that impressed with their main area though. There was TV blasting, but the memory care space was the nicest.

I went to River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls. I really loved this building. I loved the setup. We saw multiple different rooms. I thought the administrator was very friendly, very informative, very helpful, and kind of guiding us, even if we weren't going to look there, like what we should think about. I actually loved all the people there, that all the staff actually connected, made eye contact with us, and smiled. To me, that was a big deal. We really loved the place. It was just a little farther away from my parents' family, people who will want to keep in touch with them. Otherwise, I thought the facilities were excellent. They were well cared for. When people leave, they paint and change the rugs out and make sure everything's up to snuff, which I thought was excellent, and makes it look less older. They seemed to have good menus. The dining room was nice, airy, and open, but I didn't get to try their food.

I went to River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls. The assisted living was a brand-new building, they gave us a tour, and they didn't have any COVID infections there. It was a very, very nice place. I talked to the woman in charge of the memory care, and she was very outgoing and explained the details of what that memory care involves. I saw the patients having lunch there. The woman who was conducting the tour was very professional, and she gave a lot of her time to me to explain, listen to me, and understand my situation to see if she could do anything. The staff seemed like they were chosen for their character, their traits, and their personalities, which were very, very calm. They showed us the different areas. I've never experienced dementia before, and my father had it too. They had a barber shop there and other things that people need. They had nursing staff there, and a doctor comes in once a week, I think, to go over their situation. So it seemed like their assisted living would be a good place because everything's provided for you. If you could go outside, they let you go outside by yourself, and they don't keep you there. So they had a lot of character in the place, and I liked it. I saw one floor, which had an entrance and a lobby with a woman at the desk, and when you looked to the left there was this stone fireplace going up through the roof and nice chairs for reading or relaxing. My first impression was it is sort of like a ski lodge. That woman made the tour what it was; she was very caring and knowledgeable. Everything is brand new there.

River Mills Assisted Living was very beautiful and brand new. They've got beautiful rooms and friendly staff. The food smelled good, and they had tons of activities. They were planting in flower pots. They've got a beautiful patio and beautiful grounds to walk on. They also had a memory section, and they had a lot of people helping.
