Its hard to capture our experience with Olney in just a few words. On the plus side, the process of placement went very well; interesting activities were offered seven days a week. The facility has a variety of spaces and a large outdoor area for residents use although I did not see any residents outside during my visits. On the negative side, the care given during my husbands 2 week respite was not not what I expected. His personal items including his CPap machine were not kept clean. His clothing including a coat was lost. There was a mix up in his medication. Finally, even though I indicated he needed to be directed to restrooms he was left to wander; as result of accidents he was treated as if he were incontinent. In fact, he left the facility with a mess in his pants. The staff certainly appeared to be hardworking but I think they did not receive good guidance on his care.

OAL has been taking great care of my mom for over a year - It is a great relief to know she is being well taken care of. The staff is caring and helpful; they communicate when there are issues. They make sure the residents are clean, wearing clean clothes, their rooms are clean, they are eating, etc. I am pleased to see how much my mom enjoys the activities - I wasn't sure she would, but she does and she enjoys them.

My mom joined OAL at the end of January 2022 so this will be her first full year at the facility. She has adjusted well to OAL and considers this her home now. In a memory care facility, it is critical that the care providers/partners and management treat their residents with respect, care and kindness as they are living in their own very real world to them. This I value the most in OAL. No matter now busy they are, I have not seen a care partner raise their voice or ignore a resident. I have peace of mind knowing that my mom is in good and competent hands.

My father is in the memory care wing of Olney Assisted Living. There are a lot of places to eat in that area. When we take him out, there are options on places we can go, and that's nice. It's a relatively new facility, the staff has been friendly, responsive, and they have a podiatrist and doctor that comes to visit. They have nurses on staff, and we've had a pretty good experience with them. The food is very good too (according to my sister). They do what they can to engage people, they have exercises, and musicians come in to perform. They have an outdoor area, and a little secured outdoor space.

Olney Assisted Living is a very nice place. It looked like the staff are very respectful to everybody. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about dementia. They were polite and took the time to tour us around the place. I saw some activities and I saw their activity calendar. Their dining area was nice. It was small and very personal. It felt homey.

My mother is in Olney Assisted living, and I like it. They have a great staff there. It’s a memory care place, and it’s nice, small, and very clean. They have a lot of activities for memory care and have a very active staff that engages the residents for a good part of the day. They have a doctor on staff and a nurse there all of the time. It’s a new facility that only opened a year or so ago. They have an outside patio with a barbecue and putting green.
