My Mom has been at Kensington Park Senior Living Center for almost two years. She is battling dementia, and the director of memory care has been so accommodating and supportive, helping us understand the disease and coaching us through it. Everyone from the managing director to the nurses, the caregivers, the activity coordinators, and the concierges truly treat my mom like their mom. My Mom had to go to the hospital recently, and the nurses at the hospital asked us what assisted living center she was in. When we told them she was at KP, they were shocked at how clean she was. My mom's concierge doctor said to us, “KP is one of the best assisted living centers that he deals with.” We are truly blessed to have my mom at KP. It has been an excellent move for me and my seven siblings, and we would highly recommend them. Paul King Rockville MD

I toured Kensington Park Senior Living. It was kind of over-furnished. It was almost Victorian or Edwardian kind of feel to it. I felt like it was my great-grandmother's house. The place was clean. The people we met there were nice. They had good facilities. It's considerably larger than the other place, which is also part of why I didn't like it as well. And they had a higher deposit. Also, they said it might be as much as a year before they would have anything available. We saw one room. Somebody was living in it and was nice enough to let us see it. This room was packed with big, bulky furniture so that it was difficult to move around in the room. It almost gave me claustrophobia. It was very well kept, but it was crowded. The whole place had that feel to me. They had a little salon. They had a huge range of activities. Their dining area looked very nice, but it had an old-fashioned farmhouse kind of look from the outside. It's definitely in the country kind of feel, and I'm not a country girl. It was done in a style that I don't like. It didn't fit me. The staff members were mostly pleasant. The woman who very nicely let us see her apartment was very nice. They have a setup there that I applaud them for doing. They try to find a sponsor or mentor for the new people coming in to help them learn about the community. So when you go in, you have somebody there with you to hold your hand through all the things, which is very good. I looked at the menu, and it was OK. For the facilities, they had an exercise room, a viewing room, and common areas. They have a lot of land associated with the area, and they have a lot of walking paths that are outside.

I was able to visit Kensington Park Senior Living, which is a great place. I like the location and it has all the amenities. My overall experience there was very good, and the staff members were excellent. We went there on a Saturday so it's not as busy, and you don't see as many people because they don't do activities on Saturdays. The staff took me to several of the independent living places and I'm interested in the 1-bedroom, they're either set up with a bath and a half, or a den. They have three meals a day, they also do trips to places like the grocery store and other places they visit. I liked that the atmosphere was great, they were very friendly, and I felt very comfortable there. Overall, it was very good and I liked the grounds. It's a nice location, it feels like a residential area, Kensington Park is right there and you can also see a part of Rock Creek. They have three completely separate buildings, one for independent, one for assisted, and one for memory care.

My parents have been living at Kensington Park for a year now. It's very beautiful and has three buildings of independent living, assisted, and memory care, which are all within walking distance of each other. It's a small, pretty community. They always have fresh flowers, and it's very well-maintained and clean. The staff is excellent and try very hard to be accommodating. Anytime we ask for a meeting, they try to set it up right away. When my father has had concerns, they've been addressed very quickly and promptly. The caregivers are really very caring and it seems there's very little turnover of staff. The food is great and there are always a couple of hot entrees and a lot of variety. There are lots to choose from and the desserts are delicious. There's always an opportunity to choose to have a sandwich or pasta. There are other options to choose from besides just the hot entrees that are listed, which is nice so people always have a fair amount of choice. In independent living, they have a library. They share some space with a middle school, so there's a shared track if the seniors want to get some exercise or fresh air. They have a fitness room, movies shown periodically, a rehabilitation center right there on the premises, and hair salons. My parents are in memory care. My mom has music therapy a couple of times a week and my father likes to go to a special group for men. My mom also has brain therapy which has helped her in speech and memory a little bit. My dad does bingo and trivia. They have a pretty good ratio of caregivers. They can focus more on exercise since it's really important for dementia. I would recommend this place to anybody.

I visited Kensington Park and I thought that was the place of all for memory care, the reason being they had three separate buildings, one was independent living, one was assisted living and one whole building was just for Alzheimers/dementia resindents. Because they had the whole three floors for memory care so they split the first 2 floors with people with say moderate dementia or Alzheimers and the third floor was for the more advanced Alzehimers. That meant that the first 2 floors and the activity were less depressing because it didn't have the very advanced cases mixed in with the others. Also, the attention to the medical needs of the dementia patients seem the highest of all the places because they had actual medical doctors come in once a week. The quality of care seemed the highest for people with memory impairment. They had beautiful dining areas and apartments. Even though the building's not new, but different-shaped apartments, very comfortable facilities set in a residential area of Kensington Maryland next to homes and trees.

We visited Kensington Park for my friends. It was absolutely beautiful and wonderful with great food and wonderful people. It was a fabulous facility but a little too pricey. The dining area was very nice too. The rooms, food, and staff were very nice. We loved it all. They had a lot of activities, like going to the theater, or to movies.

What we like about Kensington Park is the variety of services of the facility. It was all self-contained, so there wasn’t much need for them to go off site. They have visiting doctors so they wouldn’t even have to travel for doctor's appointments. They have a lot of activities on site as well. This facility worked for my parents. My interaction with the staff has been generally good. They seemed to be caring and attentive to the resident's needs.

My mother has been in Kensington Park for eight months now. It is a very nice facility. The place is incredibly clean. The food and care are wonderful. They are all really amazing. The staff is very caring and very professional. She has a studio and it is spacious enough for her. They have a whole range of very nice and very good activities. My mother participates in them daily. They have exercise classes in the morning, current events and for a number of months, they have some people who come in to do art therapy with the residents. I think their best features are their staff, programming, the level of professionalism and cleanliness. It’s an amazing place just the way it is and I would recommend them to others.

I just got my mom settled and so far so good. She is in Kensington Park. It’s a continuing care retirement community; they have assisted, independent and memory care. My mom actually chose it. Actually I identified three or four communities then took my mom around to see which one she felt comfortable with and just her reaction to it. It’s relatively a small community which is what she was looking for and it just had the atmosphere and environment that she felt she would be comfortable with. They’ve been extremely helpful and welcoming. I can’t think of anything they haven’t done so far to help me and my mom get situated. It’s a big adjustment; they’ve just been available whenever I needed them and they check on her all the time. I’m sure it’s a pretty standard protocol for new people moving in the community but they’ve really been wonderful. She has an apartment and it’s beautiful. The dining room is beautiful too and so far the food has been wonderful. It’s very high quality and good assortment. She’s been very happy with that as well. They have a wide variety of activities. They have yoga, pilates, paintings, lectures, music, bridge and guest come in to do various kinds of activities.

My mother has been at Kensington Park a couple of weeks. I'm speaking specifically about the part of Kensington Park called the Grove, and that's the memory care. The reason I chose it is because there's a staffing ratio with 5 residents per staff member. Because they specialize in dementia care, the staff is all trained to provide that kind of care. They understand people's dementia and the kind of care they need. They were wonderful. Lots of activities to keep people engaged. I talked to family members before I chose this place, and they were all very, very positive about Kensington Park. My mother has her own room, which may be smaller than other rooms, and she has a bathroom. That's what was available. She's using their bed, but we moved in some of her own furniture, which was good. The rest of the facility is just beautiful. It has this Victorian look from the outside of it. It has a homey feel to it. The grounds are just lovely. They have plenty of areas for people to walk around. Someone will go with you outside if you want to go outside. I've been there a few times to have lunch with my mother and I think the food is really good. I like that the portions actually are not too big, which is important. A lot of seniors don't have huge appetites.

I'm definitely considering Kensington Park. They have activities all day long. I didn't see all the rooms. It depends upon the rooms, of course; the more money you spend, the bigger the room. The two rooms that we saw were way too small. The place is lovely to look at. It has nice grounds and everything. They seem to have a lot of activities and a lot of people there. But I was not thrilled with some of the rooms that I saw. Some that I liked were just priced way too high.

Kensington Park was what I had in mind for my husband and I had visited it several times. It was a beautiful environment. It was very comfortable, very sociable and well-staffed for Alzheimer's disease. The rooms were small but it was only necessary for them to sleep there other than that they were busy the whole day. The dining area was very nice. It was like a hotel. They had activities like word games. They had visitors coming in and they had programs. However, I had not experienced them and I could not give you a detailed list. The people that we know who were there which my husband would be involved with were all very busy and happy.

My sister chose Kensington Park for my mom. The staff there seemed okay and they provide a housekeeper. What she likes about in the facility is that they do movie nights, Wii bowling, and Tai-chi. She likes that because it gives her a chance to be out amongst people that she knows. She also like the food and she has been gaining weight.

I just felt that Kensington Park has everything I need. I was happy with everything it was set up. It's only a couple of blocks from where my other daughter lives. My apartment has a bedroom, a nice kitchen, and has lots of windows. The people seem to be nice. I feel like I'd be in a good place. I'm a vegetarian and they've assured me I can eat vegetarian and I will have access to doctors and nurses all the time. I'm not sick and I will have different places to go. I'm looking forward to moving there. It's fairly close to Washington and they have a lot of activities that I think I'd be interested in.

When my father decided to move into kensington park i was very relieved that he went voluntarily and i can honestly say it was one of the best decisions he ever made. Every time i have visited him the residents seemed to be out and about which made the place seem very lively and thr residents seemed happy. I know the staff offers several activities for the residents which my father takes advantage of very often such as bingo and the book club. Finally i loved the location. The community is near many shops and stores so my father can have a sense of freedom despite the caring nature of the community.
