Mom is at Brightview Rolling Hills and they are just fabulous. It was the first place we looked at. They are exceptional in friendliness and creativity. Even the housekeepers are just wonderful at trying to take care of the people there. They have at least two entrees every night to choose from, and then they have a standard menu that would change every night. You can go to one of the other parts of the menu where you can get a hot dog or a hamburger or something like that. The entrees are pretty good. There are levels of exercise that you can do depending on your physical ability. That happens two, three, or four times a week, depending on who they can get in. They have movies almost every night. They have a lot of musical groups that will come in. They might have the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts come in and do some things with the folks, too. They go on trips, like lunch out. There's a pizza place close to them so if you want pizza from the pizza place, you can order that. They're pretty creative with all the things that they can do. They'll take them to church or the grocery stores if they're close by. It's a small community, but they're pretty active. They have a pool room, a game room, a library, and a theater. They also have a TV room and several computers set up in the library as well as a table to do puzzles on.

Brightview Rolling Hills is very nice. The grounds are very nice. The room is nice. It has walk-in closets and a den. Marty took me on a tour throughout the building, and he was very knowledgeable and very succinct about how we had to pay the cost. You had to pay $6,000 to hold the room and things like that. He was very good. As far as I could see, the dining area was very nice. It accommodated you as far as your nationality. Like some people are Jewish, and it means that they need kosher. They had a list of activities. It was about nine different things each day. They had bingo, poker, and mahjong. There were just a few of the things that they had put on the letter.

Brightview Rolling Hills is a beautifully decorated facility. The apartments are nice, food and activities reasonably good. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of letting the beauty of the facility influence me into placing my loved one. Management and marketing did a good job of selling themselves as well, so I wasn’t prepared for the problems that arose almost immediately. Staffing levels are the minimum allowable by state regulations, and insufficient when residents with more significant needs are admitted. Safety was an ongoing issue for my parent and many others-frequent trips to the ER, hospitalizations for injuries of questionable etiology, lack of training for caregivers, etc. The Executive Director and Delegating Nurse talked a good story, but follow through and follow up were severely lacking. There is too much effort on covering their own behinds rather than putting resident safety first. Assisted living at Brightview is a gamble if your loved one has physical limitations, and even more so if they are unable to communicate effectively.

I fell in love with Brightview Rolling Hills. I've been dealing with them for a while. My long-term care has already checked them out, and they said it's an okay community. That's where I wanted to go. I love the place, they're excellent in terms of the residents, and they're nice. The apartments are nice too and a lot of them have little balconies. The dining area was excellent, with nice chairs, and their food was very good.
