I live in a place called Gateway Village in Capitol Heights. I like where it's situated and the upkeep of the place is decent. The people are okay, and the place is kept neat and clean. They have a new resident manager and a coordinator. They also have a maintenance person who has been here for a long time. The other two are fairly new. We don't get food here because it's just like a regular apartment building. They keep it clean and the structure is good. We just had it remodeled about 10 years ago. The only issues are we were supposed to have CCTV, but that didn't happen. We were supposed to have higher toilet seats which didn't happen as well. I would say that things have changed. People are a little bit more petty but you don't feel threatened or anything like that. You feel fairly safe here. The sizes of the rooms could be larger. When they remodeled, they took part of the bedrooms. They used to be larger but they took part of that and put it in the front room. It should have been the opposite because most seniors are in their bedrooms more than they are in their front room. One good thing about it is it's only 3 blocks from Capitol Heights Metro. The bus is right in front of the building across the street so you have your transportation right there.
