I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I wrote a review the other day and things got worse. Today Jan 29, 2022. Mind you my brother is terminal. The only positive thing I have to say is they did transfer him to the room with his wife. My sisters and I visited my brother as we do everyday. Got there around three n left at 6pm. First his oxygen tank was empty. Called Charge Nurse and she stated this was the wrong tank, he should be hooked up the the other one in the room. My question is how long has he been without oxygen. I left a detailed note with the administrator who was not in the building. The CNA who came to take his blood pressure knew nothing about taking his o2 sat level, we had to remind her that this needed to be done since he’s on oxygen. plus she had no name tag on. My brother has been there 6 days and now has a bed sore. Spoke with Charge Nurse and she needed to change the dressing but had to go downstairs to get the bandage she needed. Spoke to her about using a donut or something to keep his coccyx off the mattress. She says there’s no order n they don’t use donuts. Suggested maybe using a sheep skin under hum, Also she had no name tag on. My brother (r) leg is very swollen. I took pictures of the oxygen tanks n his sore on his coccyx. If there was anyway possible I would use the rate of zero for the staff.

I wish I could post a video! Just a nasty place and uncaring people! (Maybe 2 out of the entire place cared somewhat) They didn’t give my dad husband meds last fri, I found them on his wheelchair sat morning! This place is awful in every way! They leave residents in the hallway by the elevator, this place is HORRIBLE!!! I wouldn’t keep my pet RAT there

1. Staff down to person who collects meal trays all smile and address you by name, even when passing you in the hallway. 2. Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy staff from five different countries are excellent - the highlight of my stay. 3. Need single rooms - very difficult to be with an Alzheimer's patient who calls out all night, or with a roommate who never turns off their TV or lights. 4. Dietician very understanding - but food could be much better (see Mercy Hospital). 5. Large screen in tv room. Bingo for those who like it. Bus trips for those who can move.

Thanks for the feedback, Citroen. If you'd like to discuss your concerns, please contact our Care Line.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My review concerns the utter lack of professionalism with the overnight staff - especially Bridgette who is the ring leader of the drama. When I needed to be changed with my diaper Bridgette refused to help me and sitting in a diaper with a bowel movement for four hours is not acceptable. Bridgette gives false information to patients as a reason to bully the patients and her staff bully the patients along with her. The fact that Bridgette is the supervisor and is bullying patients and allowing employees to be insubordinate like Alice and others that work overnight is a sign that management needs to fire Bridgette. When it comes to PRN's she is just as bad as she was about changing the diaper. She refuses to give them to the patient and the dr knows and so does every one else that if you ask for it they are obligated to give it to you regardless of whether or not it is a PRN. Bridgette also leaves duties for the day staff that could be handled by the overnight staff. Bridgette isn't there just to sit on her chair all night and get out of doing as much work as possi ble. I called at 12pm for my medication tonight and BRidgete never brought me the medication. When two came around I went up to the front desk in my wheel chair and they gave me a hard time for being at the front desk when all other nurses give me my medication out front if I come up front. It takes a total of two minutes to get my medication and give it to me and Bridget would be a much more competent supervisor. SHe thinks that because she is the supervisor that we as patients have to "suck up" to her and she lets you/patient know it and it is tantamount to nursing home abuse. Bridgette should be fired and get a new overnight supervor who is more effective.

Patients are warehouses with little medical or social attention. Patients have a call bell but it may take up to 4 hours for a response. Linens are changed every 4 days. The food is terrifle. Plates arrive semi-warm without condiments. The food itself is tasteless, cheap presentation below school lunch level. Nursing staff is arrogant and refuses to engage in conversations about patient care. The is facility is a profit center with no respect for patients needs or well being.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father is a relatively new resident at Manor Care Roland Park. The facility is very nice and clean. The rooms provide plenty of space with complementary furnishings. The staff are pleasant and attentive. There appears to be quite a bit of planned activities to keep the residents active and engaged. Thus far, my dad and I give the facility thumbs up! Kudos to Ms. Norton, Admission Director, for her professionalism and hospitality during our introductory meeting and guided tour. The decision to place my dad at this facility was because of her!

My grandfather was at ManorCare Health Services – Roland Park for about three months. The facility is good. They have huge rooms, but my only complaint was that my wallet was stolen as well as my daughter-in-law's wallet. My grandfather's personal items were also stolen.

Manor Care was very nice. The only problem was the discharge process. The staff handling the discharge process was not organized, but the actual facility is very nice. They had a semi private room; it had a bed, a nightstand, and a very small television. They had quite a few activities. They had karaoke, and people came in to sing. I was impressed because the staff was really there. When you needed someone they were available. But they had to improve the discharge process; as far as making sure whoever is discharged is informed of all the options that they have or don’t have and make sure they have all the medical supplies that they need back home.
